Surrealistic horror
8 September 2005
Maestro Fulci creates the stylish, unique surrealistic atmosphere of horror in this great movie. Combination of beautiful cinematography, music and visual effects draws an audience into the ominous world of terror and pathology. It really scares me, especially scenes with Dr. Freudstein. There is something strange in this character I can't explain. It is not only the repulsive appearance. There is some perversion that is really horrifying. By the way, the bat scene is also convincing.Yes, there are some holes in the plot. May be it is slow-paced. The actors sometimes behave irrational. But it's OK. All in all it adds an enigma and mystery that make the movie so surrealistic. Genuine masterpiece. 10/10!
