Madison Square Garden and Carnegie Hall, two of New York’s most iconic venues, announced their reopening plans today as the city continues its climb out of the pandemic shutdown era. Leading the charge will be band Foo Fighters, with a June 20 concert that marks Msg’s return as a full-capacity arena rock venue.
The Foo Fighters news comes a day after Bruce Springsteen announced his June 26 return to Broadway in a revival of Springsteen on Broadway and Mayor Bill de Blasio broke news that a massive concert in Central Park, with Clive Davis recruiting talent, will take place in August.
Carnegie Hall, meanwhile, said today that it will reopen in October, with its 2021-2022 season to include more than 100 performances presented on the Hall’s three stages and across New York City. The nominations for the 2020 Grammy Awards are in, with Lizzo (eight nominations), Billie Eilish (six), and Lil Nas X (six) leading the pack.
Bebe Rexha, Alicia Keys, Gayle King, Recording Academy President and CEO Deborah Dugan, and Chair of the Board of Trustees Harvey Mason Jr. all pitched in to read off the names Wednesday morning via a live stream and on “CBS This Morning.”
Keys will return to host next year’s Grammys, her second turn as emcee of “Music’s Biggest Night.”

The 60th annual Grammys are this Sunday (Jan. 28) on CBS. in The “Late Late Show” star James Corden will host this telecast that airs live nationwide from Madison Square Garden in New York City beginning at 5 p.m. Pt/8 p.m. Et. While winners of the marquee categories like Album and Record of the Year will be revealed during this three-hour ceremony, the vast majority of the 84 Grammy Awards will be handed out during an afternoon event that the recording academy has dubbed the Premiere Ceremony.
This three-hour awardsfest kicks off at noon Pt/3 p.m. Et and will be hosted by Paul Shaffer in The Theater at Madison Square Garden. That 4,000 seat venue is part of the same complex as the main arena making it easy for nominees to attend both ceremonies. This earlier event, in which winners of 70 categories will be revealed, will stream on both Grammy.com and CBS.
