So many idols, so little time. We should have known tonight's Survivor finale would be good and game changery, but we couldn't have imagined how fun it would actually be to watch Sarah Lacina take home the million dollar prize. After being threatened all day by Culpepper (who had immunity) to hand over one of his idols, Tai refused, and decided to just play both of his idols. He used one for himself and one for Aubry, who was supposed to be the night's target. Then, Sarah used her legacy advantage, meaning she was safe, and Troyzan...

On Wednesday (May 6) at the end of the latest episode of the less-than-lackluster "Survivor: Worlds Apart," CBS formally announced what had long been rumored across the Interwebs. There are 32 candidates up for the "Second Chance" season. As the word "second" implies, this season will only be open to one-time former players who didn't win, so all of your Hantzes and Ruperts are out. Thank God. Instead, this group of 32 includes contestants going back to original "Survivor: Borneo" runner-up Kelly Wigglesworth. And then there are five candidates from the current season, including two who haven't been eliminated yet, which is either an annoying spoiler or not, but I'm...

It was a debacle. The battle of the sexes twist didn’t work. The cast was unlikable, including one dude who called himself Troyzan and another dude who called himself Tarzan. It was ridiculous. So when Survivor: One World signed off in the spring of 2012, many wondered openly about the health of the franchise that gave birth to network reality TV way back in the summer of 2000. Maybe it was finally time to snuff Survivor’s torch.
Except that’s not what happened. Ever since then, Survivor has been so hot that Michael Skupin may burn his hands on it...

Survivor: Philippines Review, Season 25, Episode 13
“Gouge My Eyes Out”
Airs Wednesdays at 8pm (Et) on CBS
Several weeks ago, a four-person deal was struck on Survivor that wasn’t in any participant’s best interests. It seemed unlikely that either Malcolm and Denise or Skupin and Lisa planned to honor the deal. Apparently, this oath was stronger than considerations of what constitutes the best gameplay. Each pair would have benefited from betraying the alliance this week. Abi-Maria’s vote is up for grabs, and she is willing to do anything to stick around. Why wouldn’t someone grab her and try to control the game? She may be irritating at camp, but there are only three days left! Picking up Abi means a nearly certain final three spot because of the numbers. The editing promises that Lisa and Skupin are planning to take out Denise, but they again pull back and take the easy road.

“I’m Not the Only Actor on This Island”
Airs Wednesdays at 8pm (Et) on CBS
Now that’s more like it! The three-tribe structure was put in place this season to avoid the predictable exits of Survivor’s recent installments. By splitting the players into smaller groups, the producers hoped to stop the trend of early five-person alliances dominating the game. The success of their plan wouldn’t be clear until the merge, which happens this week. Boats arrive at each island and give the tribes 10 minutes to grab their things before they head to a new beach. It’s clear there are intriguing possibilities for where the game will go. Will Rc and Skupin flip to Kalabaw and change the game? Is Jeff Kent finally ready to turn on Penner? Could the immunity idol come into play? All of these questions are answered...

Survivor: One World Review, Season 24, Episode 15, Reunion
Airs Wednesdays at 8pm (Et) on CBS
Although they tend to focus on a few contestants, Survivor reunions always include standout moments that make them worth the extra hour. This year’s has more than its share of highlights, with many coming from Jeff Probst himself. He asks questions to the wrong people, interviews random audience members, and seems more flustered than usual. That said, he’s also having a great time and keeps the mood light. The kinder tone of the final Tribal Council sticks around for the reunion, with even Colton and Alicia not coming off terribly. She gives a heartfelt apology that feels genuine and shows that at least she realizes her conduct was troublesome. The one exception to the love fest is Troyzan, who compares himself to Richard Hatch and still won’t admit he got played. Sporting ridiculous dyed black hair,...

on Sunday, concluding with the rightful victory of bridal-shop owner Kim Spradlin. After running multiple alliances and winning four immunity challenges (among other accomplishments), Kim's status as one of the all-time greatest "Survivor" winners can't be denied. But even though the best player won the game, does that mean "One World" was one of the better seasons in "Survivor" history? Not necessarily — certainly not if you're asking season villain Colton Cumbie, who declared during the live "Survivor" reunion that "One World" got boring once he was medically evacuated from the game.
Did Kim deserve to win? Should she play again? Was Colton's assessment of a lackluster "Survivor" season on point? We tackled all of...

“Perception is Not Always Reality”
Airs Wednesdays at 8pm (Et) on CBS
There have been only a few cases where the Survivor winner has been telegraphed so far in advance. A recent example was Boston Rob’s roll through the Redemption Island season, but his edge as a four-time returning player made it easier. Kim has played front and center since the merge and put a huge target on her back. She’s walked the line between staying loyal to her alliance and removing major challengers. During the two-hour finale, she has several opportunities to take out players who could steal the prize. The surprising part is that she resists that temptation and sticks with Sabrina and Chelsea to face the music. Her confidence in the Final Tribal Council is clear, and the only remaining obstacle is bitterness from the jury.

New York — Thirty-nine days, 18 people, one Survivor ... and it's exactly who it should have been all along.
Surprising nobody but relieving everybody, 29-year-old bridal shop owner Kim Spradlin won the million-dollar prize on "Survivor: One World" on Sunday, and she deserves every penny. Blue-eyed Kim wasn't just the best-liked person out on the beach, she was the strategic mastermind who engineered the complete collapse of the game's men, a physical powerhouse with four immunity victories to her name, and a savvy enough player to sniff out a hidden immunity idol she never even had to use.
Watching the season, it didn't take an eagle-eyed "Survivor" fan to know that Kim had all the makings of a fantastic winner.

Eighteen players vied for the million dollars on Survivor: One World this season, but in truth, 17 of them never really stood a chance. 29-year-old bridal shop owner Kim Spradlin turned Samoa into her own personal domination station, and in the end, the jury said “I do” when voting to give her the victory. (Only bitter Troy and confused Leif opted to vote for runner-up Sabrina instead.) Now $1,100,000 richer after winning both the game and the fan favorite vote, Kim took a few minutes out from her sleepless morning to dissect her own game and reveal whether she would consider doing it all over again.

Kim Spradlin isn't the only "Survivor: One World" winner. Ok, technically she is — that cool $1 million is firmly in her bank account — but the season's four finalists can also take comfort in knowing that they made "Survivor" history together: For the first time in 24 seasons, there was not a single man left standing among the final five contestants.
The feat is all the more impressive considering where the women began. At the outset of "One World," the two tribes were separated on gender lines, with the men of Manono showcasing their clear physical advantage with two early immunity wins. It certainly didn't help that the women of Salani were turning on each other, with in-fighting dominating much of their air time in the season's earliest episodes.

"Survivor" does not always have a happy ending. All too often, the player who fought the hardest and played the best game winds up in the second- or third-place seat because of a bitter jury unable to look past their own fate on the road to the million bucks.
Of all the "Survivor: One World" contestants, only one played a near-perfect game: Kim Spradlin, the 29-year-old bridal shop owner who won the Sole Survivor title on last night's season finale. Throughout the Survivor finale, the women kept saying to each other “may the best woman win." Thankfully, she did.
Kim put a bow on the neat little package that was her game this season. She dominated from start to finish and even if you do not believe she has earned her place among the Survivor greats, the way she played this season certainly does. Her win ranks alongside Boston Rob (Survivor: Redemption Island), Brian Heidik (Survivor: Thailand) and Tom Westman (Survivor: Palau).
Consider that throughout the entire game, she was never seriously targeted to be voted out. None of the other people playing with her recognized how much of a threat she was to not only keep advancing, but win the game. She played both sides of two different alliances at two different points in the game and came out of both not only on the winning side, but without a scratch on her.

The "Survivor: One World" reunion special is largely Colton-focused, which is annoying.
The first part of the reunion show is pretty firework-free. Even Leif and Troyzan are not seeming mad that Kim won (they were the two votes for Sabrina). Everyone seems to agree that Kim is a deserving winner. Which is true.
Colton's Shot at Redemption
But then. Colton time. He owns what he said and he says it made him uncomfortable. And he says he saw himself being a very, very mean person. Jeff presses him whether he's the racist bigot we saw on the show. His defense is that he would make out with Shemar Moore faster than any woman. Um, that doesn't make you not a racist dude. Notice how Bill was not laughing at that? Saying any kind of "I have a black friend" type thing does not make you not a racist.

On "Survivor: One World," we're down to an all-female Final 5 for the first time in the show's history. Well done, ladies. Hat tip to you all for playing a pretty gosh darn good game.
But just for the record - Kim deserves to win this in a unanimous vote, so hopefully that's how it goes down.

It's rather hilarious how Alicia/Christina and Chelsea/Sabrina still think they are good to go with Kim for a Top 3. They just have no idea and nobody has realized that Kim is a huge threat to win the money. We aren't rooting for anyone to take her out, but it is kind of mystifying that nobody talks about it.

Greg "Tarzan" Smith is the latest castaway voted off "Survivor: One World." He tells Zap2it in his exit interview that the girls were smarter post-merge.
Are you glad you did "Survivor"? Was it everything you hoped/expected it to be?

I love the interplay socially. It was like playing a chess game. I loved that. The problem was it was an 18-tier chess game with 18 brains and that made it incomparably fun for me. I had a great time. And I lost the weight that i needed to lose."
In hindsight, do you still think it was a good strategy to turn on the men?

Give him credit where it's due. If nothing else, the ludicrously entertaining Greg "Tarzan" Smith exited "Survivor: One World" exactly as you'd want him to: wearing an extra-tight bloodstained tank top and dirty panties on his head.
After almost 40 days and innumerable twist and turns along the way, Tarzan's shot at the million-dollar prize ended Wednesday night just short of the elite final five. Since he was the last man standing, Tarzan's exit marks the end of the season's battle of the sexes — a battle the women won decisively, despite a very rocky start. Now, only five players remain going into Sunday night's season finale: loudmouth Alicia, timid Christina, measured Sabrina, cowgirl Chelsea and Kim, long considered the front-runner to win the game.

Playing Survivor is an anxiety generating proposition. Every action you make, every person you talk to is noticed and scrutinized. Being on your game at all times is essential. The ability to trust someone else is necessary, but must be evaluated constantly.
With so much uncertainty in Survivor, determining who you can rely on and who you can trust is a very difficult situation. However, sometimes the players help you out. Not by making it obvious you can trust them, but making it obvious that you can’t trust them. This exact scenario led to Tarzan’s demise this week.
Tarzan’s strategy playing Survivor has certainly been unique if not downright confusing. He informed the viewers this week that he set up his game in stages and has continuously accomplished those stages. Okay, not bad. Be careful what you wish for. That was the lesson Survivor: One World contestant Kat Edorsson learned when she was blindsided this week. In anticipation of blindsiding tribemate Sabrina Thompson, Edorsson, 22, told host Jeff Probst she found blindsides "exciting" and "funny," but she was not laughing when she was the one sent to the jury instead. Speaking to People Thursday about her "million dollar mistake" during the reward challenge, the timeshare rep from Orlando, Fla., touched upon why she wishes Troy had encouraged another player instead of her, and how she doesn't mind being "the clown." You were very emotional during your exit interview.

After being voted out on Wednesday (May 2) night's "Survivor: One World," Kat Edorsson said that she hoped she might get to return to the CBS series someday to prove that she's not the most naive player in the game's history. The 22-year-old wasn't referring to not knowing what her appendix was or for occasionally misusing the world "touche." For the most part, she was talking about the string of bad decisions that led from her ignoring Troyzan's advice to take control of her own strategic destiny to a big mistakes in picking players to join her on the...
