Principal photography has started in Montreal, Canada, on female detective series “Wong & Winchester.” The show is backed by Citytv and Pixcom in association with 3 Arts and Lionsgate Television and will premiere mid-season on Citytv and Citytv+.
Starring Grace Lynn Kung and Sofia Banzhaf the show is set up as a police procedural built around a bitter ex-cop turned private investigator and a naïve but ambitious newcomer.
The series, with showrunner by Chris Pozzebon creator and co-showrunner Hollis Ludlow-Carroll, is produced by Nathalie Cécyre and directed by Stephan Beaudoin. Executive producers are Nicola Merola, Charles Lafortune and Sylvie Desrochers from Pixcom and Trevor Rotenberg and Luke Maxwell from 3 Arts.
The show marks the first collaboration of 3 Arts’ new office in Canada under the Lionsgate-3 Arts partnership. Lionsgate will handle all rights sales outside Canada.

Exclusive: Management-production company 3 Arts Entertainment is expanding its footprint with the launch of an office north of the border, focusing on Canadian talent, development and production.
Headed by manager Trevor Rotenberg, the Toronto-based office plans to take advantage of the appetite for content in Canada.
This marks the second international expansion for 3 Arts in the past couple of months. Lionsgate recently acquired a minority stake in London- and Los Angeles-based management and production company 42. Academy’s Science and Technology Council Adds New Members
The Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences have appointed David Pierce, Andy Serkis and Jeffrey White to it’s Science and Technology Council 2021-2022 membership, bringing its roster to 25 individuals.
Pierce’s previous roles include working as an assistant chief and chief operations officer at the National Audio-Visual Conservation Center at the Library of Congress — where he was responsible for the acquisition, conservation, documentation and digitization of the public archives of motion pictures, TV and radio sound. Pierce has been an Academy Member-at-Large since 2019.
Serkis is an award-winning actor with performances including “The Lord of the Rings” trilogy, “King Kong,” “The Planet of the Apes” trilogy, “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” and will next appear in “The Batman.” He has been a member of the Academy’s Actors Branch since 2012.

Tom Allen & Jt Parr, the pair behind viral comedy Chad Goes Deep, have teamed up with The Mick creators John & Dave Chernin to develop an animated comedy for Hulu.
The streamer has handed the Untitled Parr & Allen Animated Project a script and visual development commitment. 20th Century Fox Television, which produces animated series Solar Opposites for Hulu, is the studio.
The show follows two perpetually stoked surfer bros born ahead of their time try to navigate teenage life in Ancient Greece while showing their Greek God dads that there is more than one way to be a legend.
Allen and Parr, who went viral last week with their YouTube video of handing out masks in Huntingdon Beach, are writing and exec producing. The Chernin brothers, who got their start on It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia, are showrunners and exec producers.
