Molly Moon has attracted nearly two million followers on TikTok by taking inspiration from horror video games. She is now getting a chance to put her spin on that genre thanks to Excuse Me, Sir, a new game co-led by Moon and four indie developers.
Moon’s TikToks resemble the point-and-click adventure games that thrived during the 90s. (The 1993 title Myst was once the best-selling PC game of all time.) By combining garbled vocals, creepy images, and the foreboding aesthetic employed by internet fads like The Backrooms and Slender Man, Moon has become one of TikTok’s favorite horror impresarios. Now she’s inviting her fans to play their way through her haunting world.
For Moon, the transition from TikToker to game designer hinged on a pivotal tweet. Last year, developer Airdorf reached out to Moon and told her that a group of devs wanted to work with her to...

Airdorf, the developer behind Faith: The Unholy Trinity, is turning to point-and-click Fmv-style adventure gameplay for their next title with Excuse Me Sir. And to add to the horror, Airdorf is enlisting the help of Dread X Collection contributor TorpleDook, YouTuber Jesse Cox, Siren Head creator Trevor Henderson, and TikTok star Molly Moon.
Currently available on itch.io as a demo with three possible endings, Excuse Me Sir started out as a “shot-in-the-dark tweet” by Airdorf. That turned into the present proof-of-concept centring on Moon as she aims to solve the mystery of her missing brother. That’s of course contingent on you making your way through and surviving Moon’s world, which is presented in “crispy chrunchety fmv-style graphics and audio”.
Gameplay of Excuse Me Sir consists of you navigating the world using a basic onscreen interface that echoes old-school adventure games. You’ll be talking with Moon, answering...

Jeremy Strong, who plays high-strung son Kendall Roy in Succession, took the Emmy tonight for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series – his first Emmy nomination and first win.
Strong seemed shocked, almost speechless. “Brian Cox, I share this with you,” he said in his acceptance speech. “I read a poem by Steven Dunn. ‘All I ever wanted was a book so good I’d be finishing it for the rest of my life.’ This job was that for me,” he said. “Oh man, thank you so much,”
His performance was much lauded — angst-ridden, drug addled, power hungry yet vulnerable. But the win was a bit of a surprise. Most pundits had expected Cox, who plays his vicious screen dad and the imposing family patriarch Logan Roy, or well as Jason Bateman’s suburban mob money launderer, Marty Byrde in Ozard, to take the prize. That said, Strong has taken...

CAA has added to its digital gaming talent coffers with the signings of Jesse Cox (pictured above) and Bruce Greene, both of whom have racked up sizable presences on YouTube and Twitch -- respectively.
Cox, for his part, created a YouTube Premium series titled Good Game in 2017, which The Hollywood Reporter notes followed an emerging esports team. He also produced the 2018 visual novel game Monster Prom. Cox, who counts 975,000 YouTube subscribers, also hosts the CoxCon convention in the U.K. -- an Irl meetup where YouTube creators can convene with fans.
Greene, on the other hand, is a co-founder of the Rooster Teeth-owned YouTube gaming channel Funhaus -- though he recently departed that venture to pursue a full-time Twitch-streaming career, per the Reporter, where he counts 117,000 followers. His streams feature playthroughs of Doom Eternal, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, and Monster Hunter World. Greene also previously worked on the Inside...

Filmmakers, performers, musicians, journalists, writers and other creatives who have stories to tell are being encouraged to apply for the inaugural $20,000 Jesse Cox Audio Fellowship.
The fellowship honours the memory of Cox, a Walkley Award-winning radio producer with a passion for storytelling, who died in December 2017, aged 31, from a rare soft tissue cancer.
He left behind his partner Que Minh Luu, now an executive producer at ABC TV, and their young son Alfie.
Amazon’s Audible.com.au, where Cox was head of original content, has donated $20,000 which will fund the first year of the fellowship, helping a mid-career Australian storyteller to create an innovative audio work.
The recipient will get mentoring and guidance from Audible’s marketing and content teams while the ABC will provide production training, creative development mentoring and editorial support plus access to specialised equipment and services.

Since its launch in 2012, the Geek & Sundry network has gathered 1.3 million subscribers, scored 200 million views, and emerged as a gathering places for geeks of all shapes and sizes. Now, Felicia Day’s nerd-culture nexus is moving in new directions, while still keeping itself centered around its primary focus. It has announced a rebrand that includes at least two new shows and a brand new logo.
The two shows included in Geek & Sundry’s rebranding effort are Super Fun Awesome Party Game (premiering March 3rd), and Signal Boost (premiering March 15th). The former series will star Jesse Cox and Jessica Marzipan, who will reimagine children’s games with new twists. Twister, for example, will receive an update revolving around chocolate syrup. Cox, given his history with games, will probably be bad at that one, too.

Maker Studios will soon have new content available for smartphone users. The Disney-owned multi-channel network has inked a deal with Verizon’s newly-launched go90 mobile video service to produce at least eight original series for the platform, including Marvel and Star Wars-themed shows and coverage of live events.
Under the content pact, Maker will create original programming for go90 across genres like dance, comedy, and gaming. The Maker series Geekenders, featuring YouTube gamers Jesse Cox and Brooke Lawson (aka PressHeartToContinue) as they travel the U.S. to find geeky tourist spots, is already available on go90. Maker will also launch Marvel’s Off the Rack, where traditional and digital celebrities will explore the world of Marvel Comics through what a release calls “discussions and re-enactments with special cameos from Marvel creators.” Go90 will also be home to Maker’s In a Galaxy, a collaboration series from Lucasfilm and Morgan Spurlock...

Geek and Sundry's latest web series is taking video games out of the living room. It's called Unplugged, and its main mission is to recreate in real life a series of popular video games. Unplugged is hosted by Ashly Burch, known for her surreal, humorous YouTube series Hey Ash, Whatcha Playin'? In each episode, Burch brings in two special guests, who compete against each other in a specific video game. Once the game is complete, Burch pits the two competitors against each other in the "main event": A real life version of that episode's game. The first episode features League of Legends, with guests Jesse Cox and Naomi Kyle battling it out with their champions of choice. They then enter into a LARPing arena, where they throw enough sword swipes and magic spells at each other to make even this guy happy. Unplugged's brand partner is Microsoft, and the...
