"Do you understand how serious this is? This is Top Model - elevated," Tyra Banks emphasized to the finalists on Wednesday's show, referring to cycle 15's superior prizes, including a spread in Italian Vogue, and the presence of big-name designers like Robert Cavalli. Despite its heavily promoted "elevated" status, the Top Model finale competition pretty much remained the same. Finalists Ann (whose super-slim, 6-ft., 2-in.-tall frame was the subject of controversy) and Chelsey (the blonde, gap-toothed beauty with modeling experience) had to do a print-ad photo shoot for Cover Girl, film a commercial for the cosmetics giant and walk...

America’s Next Top Model has been putting a lot of weight on the impending winner of Cycle 15 because, this time, she’s not just a winner of a reality modeling show... she's the future of the modeling world. So says Tyra anyway.
But it's true that the prizes at stake are much more serious this season, and perhaps the winner will actually find the sort of success previous champions have not.
With that in mind, the finale seemed more harried and perfunctory than in previous seasons; I thought it had too many components and it was just a giant race to the finish. Let’s break it down, shall we?
The Photoshoot
Finally, Chelsey and Ann shoot their future cover for Vogue Italia, and who should greet them but Valentina Serra, who by the way, sounds like she’s mimicking an Italian accent. It sounds so strangely exaggerated.

At The CW's viewing party for the "America's Next Top Model" finale, Zap2it had the rare opportunity of watching alongside the two finalists. Afterward, we spoke to Dallas native and Cycle 15's high fashion winner, Ann Ward, about what it was like to relive the experience.
"I was really nervous about it," Ann, 19, told us. "But it was really, really fun, because Chelsey was there with me and we got to laugh at all the goofy things that we were doing. Yeah, it was really exciting."
Watching the finale, the girls made it really hard to pick a clear-cut winner. Even Ann thought Chelsey would run away with the title.
"During the filming of it," she says. "I actually wasn't expecting to win at all. I thought it was really close, but I thought Chelsey might have had the upper hand just because her walk was better than mine...

Since she was a little girl, it's been Chelsey Hersley's dream to become a supermodel. Though we watched the America's Next Top Model finale last night as the 22-year-old from Boise, Idaho lost the grand prize to Ann Ward, in many ways Hersley still got to live out that dream by working with some of the world's top photographers and designers, including her self-professed "idol," Patrick Demarchelier.
She may not have landed that final Vogue Italia spread, but Chelsey's not giving up on her modeling dream, and it sounds like her experience on Top Model has prepared her well for the work ahead. Here's what Chelsey had to say about the race to the finish, and what's ahead:...

Imagine watching the finale of "America's Next Top Model" Cycle 15 with the two finalists in the same room? Zap2it did just that at The CW's finale viewing party. There were a lot of giggles from the two contestants during the screening and then some tears when we watched the winner get announced. Afterward, we spoke to runner-up, Chelsey Hersley, about what it was like to watch Ann Ward take the prize again.
"It was kind of hard reliving the moment again," Chelsey, 22, told us. "I was surprisingly more calm than I thought I would be watching it. It was a lot harder the first time."
The entire finale seemed like a close race. So when Ann was named the winner, Chelsey looked pretty blindsided. Since the finale's taping, she says she has been able to work through her disappointment.

Tears. Pounding hearts. Even laughter. These were just some of America's Next Top Model finalists Ann and Chelsey's reactions when they watched the cycle 15 finale for the first time tonight. Even though both girls knew the results, it was an emotional hour—which we shared with them in a screening room at the CW headquarters here in L.A. Read on to hear what the girls told us afterward about their experience on the show, from joy to dreckitude... Of course, both girls knew the outcome of the show, but runner-up Chelsey said, "My heart started pounding again and it was like reliving it." Newly crowned America's Next Top Model Ann said they've known the...

Vogue Italia has found its latest high-fashion face. The strengths of America's Next Top Model finalists Chelsey Hersley and Ann Ward were glaringly evident: Anne took ridiculously fabulous photos week after week, but Chelsey knew how to walk and show off her personality at the same time. So who got to be on top? Lucky for Ann, her pictures did all the talking for her. The 6-foot-2, wee-waisted brunette overcame her shyness, insecurities and lurching walk to be named America's Next Top Model on Wednesday's finale. In addition to kicking off the series' 15th cycle with a record five straight top photos, winning Andre Leon Talley's adoration from the get-go probably...

Tyra Banks revealed the winner of "America's Next Top Model" Cycle 15 on Wednesday night -- was it blonde bombshell Chelsey or brunette beauty Ann? Read on for a spoiler-filled recap! Although Chelsey impressed the judges with her commercial good looks, they found Ann's look to be more editorial, and ultimately gave the title to 6'2" Dallas student Ann. A tearful Ann said she felt "honored" by the win and couldn't even believe it, cherishing her win after suffering "comments about being too tall or being just not normal." Chelsey, for her part, had no great love for the victor, saying bitterly, "I feel cheated, I feel I have the whole package… and I don't think Ann does." Earlier in the episode, the ladies battled it out in a photoshoot in the Italian countryside, as well as a Cover Girl commercial and beauty shoot. Before they took the stage for...

This Wednesday is the America's Next Top Model cycle 15 finale, in which we will finally see Tyra's final two, Ann and Chelsey, go head to pretty head in a final Covergirl photo shoot and Roberto Cavalli runway show.
Last week, after Kayla and Jane got the boot, I posed the season's final question to you all: Who should win, Ann or Chelsey? You all replied with compelling reasons for both girls to take home the victory, but the overall consensus, in the comments and the poll, was clear: This season's first-photo champion, Ann, is your overall favorite to win.
But who Will win? Well, if you don't already/want to know, here's my advice: Do not look through this photo album from the finale, which many observant readers have discovered reveals Wednesday's winner.
After the following clip from the episode, I discuss the unintentional spoiler. In other words: Spoiler Alert.

It's that time of the year when a cycle of America's Next Top Model winds down and we all go back to figuring out what to do with our lives. As for the young women vying for the coveted top spot, well ... one of them wins. Some of the others go on to have flourishing modeling careers despite the loss, and some find another calling. Meanwhile, host/executive producer Tyra Banks maintains her youth for another year by feasting on the contestants' tears and broken dreams like a smizing Elizabeth Bathory.
Cycle 15 brought us not only a more serious tone with its "high fashion" — mindedness, but also Kayla Ferrel, a 19-year-old lesbian ex-Hooters waitress from Rockford, Illinois. During the course of the show, she revealed what can only be described in understated terms as a rough upbringing — poverty, abuse, and being bullied about her sexuality to the point where she...

After 11 weeks (that's almost Three Months, you guys) of watching America's Next Top Model cycle 15, we've finally reached the finale! Well, almost.
Next week, the CW powers that be will air the non-anticipated Top Model clip show, probably because they know we will all be too busy flying in airplanes or sewing elastic into our pants on Thanksgiving Eve to watch or care. But that's Ok. You know why? Because it gives us a whole entire Week to discuss which of the two finalists should win. And if I know you guys, I know that you Love a good, heated, overly emotional, bias-filled comment section debate about the relative beauty and walking skills of two teenagers whom you've never personally met, and you want that debate to drag out as long as humanly possible.
So: Your wish has been granted. And that's what this thread is for. Pretend you are...

Four contestants, one beautiful location and one first-time director. Let's break down this installment of America's Next Top Model, shall we?
The Lesson
The girls meet an acting coach where they work on projecting their voices and emoting. They wail and flail to try to bring out their emotions. It’s pretty entertaining to watch, especially since it seems exceedingly unconvincing.
I actually did think Ann’s version of being scared was incredibly believable, and the highlight of the whole episode was when the acting coach referred to Ann as "Frankenstein." Apologies for ripping on Ann once again, but the poor girl continues to warble every week!
The Challenge
The remaining four girls are directed to present themselves to Franca Sozzani, the editor in chief of Vogue Italia. Franca, who is just as bony and intimidating as her American counterpart, scrutinizes each woman. It’s extremely awkward that Andre Leon Talley...

Ann and Chelsey have booked a place in the 15th cycle finale of America's Next Top Model. The pair secured their chance to fight for the grand prize on Wednesday night's episode of The CW competition when Jane and Kayla were sent home in a double elimination following a "motion editorial" photoshoot directed by Tyra. Tyra said that Kayla was different, interesting and top photographers would create beautiful imagery with her but that she hadn't mastered her body or the angles of her face, while Jane had lacked personality until this week's motion editorial where she shone. This week's episode was all about personality and started with a visit from Andre who warned that personality was the key to being cast and that if they wanted to be successful models they had to learn to express the emotion that a designer wanted. Jane was determined to (more)...

Tyra Banks is adding to her business empire - she has stepped behind the camera to create a mini-movie. The former supermodel has branched out into business, creating a TV empire with her worldwide hit reality show "America's Next Top Model" and her own talk show, as well as being an accomplished photographer.
And she can now add director to her resume - on an upcoming episode of her model hunt, Banks will make and edit an "over-the-top Italian drama" to showcase the remaining beauties in the current season of the competition. Banks admits learning about moviemaking was a challenge.
She tells People.com, "A lot of designers and people in the fashion industry are feeling like the future of fashion is not just still photos, but they've been doing mini-movies where the models are acting things out."

Tyra Banks is the world's premiere renaissance woman. (If you don't believe me, just ask her.) Her resume is so long that she prints it on sky banners and reading it constitutes a full cardio workout.
The Wednesday on the second-to-last episode of America's Next Top Model, Tyra will add another item to her expanding resume: Motion editorial director.
What is a "motion editorial"? Watch the videos below to see Tyra explain the concept to her final four contestants, Kayla, Ann, Jane and Chelsey. The two girls who don't move well enough for their Tyra-nnical director will get the boot for the season finale--which, by the way, airs December 1. Next week is the cycle 15 blooper reel show.

In the penultimate episode of the season, the girls were treated to the obligatory go-see challenge, which always leads to late contestants and angry agencies. You’d think after 14 cycles, the ladies would know not to be on time, but that certainly wasn’t the case this time around.
Since America's Next Top Model is more “serious” in Cycle 15, Tyra’s also been a lot more involved with the girls and the photoshoots. And I’m happy to see that she’s toned down the theatrics and general obnoxiousness. Tyra actually dispensed genuine, helpful advice this week, a refreshing change from her typical campiness.
The Challenge:
The go-see challenge is one of the most drama filled of the season, with girls trying to see as many designers as possible, but getting lost (and late) in the process. Although Cycle 15 has been less melodramatic (it’s because it’s serious, y’all!

This week's marked the show's third trip to Italy (Cycle 2 went to Milan; Cycle 10 went to Rome), as the remaining six girls went to Venice, leaving behind their house in Venice Beach, California (wonder if that was on purpose?).

As the weeks go by on "America's Next Top Model," the contestants' faults are smizing harder than they are. On Wednesday's (Nov. 3) episode, Liz and her constant whining were the first to be sent home from Italy.
We're pretty sure that not only was the panel turned off by her hoochie stance on that gondola in the photo shoot, but also when she cut them off to tell them it was hard to balance standing there. It's your job to make it look effortless, Andre Leon Talley's "oh, no she didn't" look seemed to say.
Liz wasn't alone with her issues. All the other girls are carrying their own, as well.
Sure, they're human and everyone has problems, but not everyone is on national TV trying to be a top model. And these are things that could potentially send them home.

"America's Next Top Model" tested the model hopefuls for personality on Wednesday night's episode and Tyra Banks declared that Esther was found wanting. She said that Esther was a beautiful, curvy model, but she wasn't right for commercials. Now "The Insider" talks to the 18-year-old from Boston, Ma, who was also criticized for having large breasts, and she revealed what a professional model said to her about having a reduction. "The Insider": How hard was it to get this far and then to be sent home because Tyra said the judges felt you didn't show your personality enough? Esther: It is hard, but it is hard for every girl who goes home. I went in thinking I would be one of the first two to go. I went in thinking, "It is really cool that I made it this far. Yes, we said it: Alabama's Kendal Brown got shafted in the last photo challenge of "America's Next Top Model." While all the other girls had designers with distinct character traits, Kendal got stuck with nice, classy, but dare we say, boring Vera Wang.
Not only that, but in the earlier Grammy challenge, Mr. Jay Manuel accused her of sabotaging her teammate, Chris, with what he thought was a dress more appropriate for the streets than the Grammys. Um, Mr. Jay, you have met Chris, right?
We gave Kendal 6 chances to clear her name:
