Conor McGregor and Floyd Mayweather Jr.‘s first joint promotional appearance was meant to drum up excitement for their Aug. 26 fight. But an offensive taunt at the trash-talking event has many accusing the Irish Ufc star of racist behavior — again.
As Mayweather Jr. showed off his shadowboxing moves at Los Angeles’ Staples Center on Tuesday, McGregor was heard yelling, “Dance for me, boy!” before quickly changing his statement to “Dance for me, sir!”
The verbal jab quickly caught the attention of the Twittersphere, with social media users comparing the taunt to insults used during the slave and Jim Crow eras to belittle African-American men.

Don’t think the world of Mma has a lot in common with professional wrestling? Think again! There is a definite element of entertainment in Mma, an element of theatricality, that will always tie the two together.
That’s what gets the casual fans in the doors and puts butts in seats. While the so-called “hardcore” Mma fans will enjoy a technical submission grappling duel with slick transitions and numerous escapes, your average Joe is still the “just bleed” variety of fan, who wants to see action – and personality. A bitter rivalry, if possible, and the right person (or persons) to sell it.
That’s why Ronda Rousey is able to sell nearly a million Pay-per-Views against a relatively unknown fighter like Bethe Correia, like she did just over a month ago at Ufc 190. It’s why Conor McGregor vs. Jose Aldo – a fantastic showman vs. a dominant...

Ufc superstar Conor McGregor dropped a ton of knowledge on us -- about his upcoming fight, his super ballin' watch, and even crowned Ireland's true king of badassery. Where to start? First off ... you've gotta see the timepiece the reigning featherweight champ is rocking in this clip -- Conor says it's the Only one in North America ... which explains the $200k price tag! Then Conor talked some smack about rival Jose Aldo and their Dec.

In the world of sports entertainment, WWE and Ufc are both trying to sell fights. The big difference is one is ‘fake’ and the other is real sport, but the art of story telling and dressing up an event is very much the same.
Look no further than ‘The Notorious’ Conor McGregor versus Jose Aldo. McGregor has been compared to Ric Flair, and his fight narrative with Aldo has resembled a soap opera at times. Some Mma fans hate that pro wrestling aspect, whereas others love it.
What those Mma fans can’t argue with is that Dana White’s way of promoting is leading to big successes. McGregor versus Aldo is expected to pop a million pay per view buys on July 11th.
Ironically, it is now the WWE who could learn from the Ufc’s way of doing things. A million buy pay...

Two Classic moments at the Ufc 189 media event in Ireland moments ago -- when two fans hijacked the mic and started talking Smack right to Jose Aldo ... and It's Hilarious!!! Fyi -- Dana White opened up the event for questions from the media (and only the media) about the fight between Ireland's own Conor McGregor and Aldo set for July. That's when some drunk dude took the mic and started spouting off at the mouth ... asking Aldo,...

Just days before Conor McGregor enters the cage against Dennis Siver in a fight that could very well be his ticket to a title shot against Jose Aldo (possibly in an Irish stadium), an Irish Senator has stated that she requested a ban on any future fights in Ireland – although she was quickly forced to rethink her position after her popularity nose-dived in the wake of her comments.
Catherine Noone, the senator in question, told Rte that;
I have written to the Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport seeking his views on allowing this vile so-called sport to be given a platform and an audience here and fully believe that this event should not be licensed
Them’s fighting words. McGregor is extremely popular in Ireland, and his first headlining fight there was a huge success on a national and international level. In speaking about banning the fight,...

Next Sunday night (yes, Sunday, head-to-head with NFL football), the Mma world will learn the future of the Ufc’s featherweight division. With a win, Ireland’s Conor “The Notorious” McGregor will cash his ticket to a fight with champion Jose Aldo for what could be the best-selling featherweight Mma bout of all time.
It’s a remarkable turnaround for a division that has struggled at the box office over the years.
In an era where it’s claimed that the lower weight classes don’t sell, McGregor is either seen as a trash-talking anomaly, or the sign of things to come as the division matures and draws more focus to itself, just as the lightweight division did before it.
Now featuring the likes of Aldo, McGregor, Chad Mendes, Frankie Edgar, Dennis Bermudez, and others, the featherweight division is extremely competitive, and that’s not going to change any time soon.

Huge news struck earlier this month when it was confirmed that a group of former fighters would be suing the Ufc for alleged anti-trust violations, with the fighters claiming that the world’s largest Mma promotion was in fact a monopoly that bought up and killed off all serious competition, and acted illegally to keep fighter pay down, and limit other potential sources of revenue for fighters.
It was the opening salvo in a war that has been brewing for some time, as many fighters – including highly ranked Tim Kennedy and featherweight champion Jose Aldo – have complained about poor pay and treatment from the promotion. While Kennedy and Aldo are some of the larger names, there were many, many smaller ones, a large number of whom wished to remain anonymous, who had similar grievances.
Add to that the complaints of former fighters like Ken Shamrock, Tito Ortiz, and Rampage Jackson...

Conor McGregor was the second most searched sporting personality in Ireland (based on Google search queries), second only to Michael Schumacher, and the highest ranked Irish athlete in 2014. Huge stateside as well, he’s the biggest in-house star the Ufc has developed in years (as opposed to Brock Lesnar coming from the WWE or Ronda Rousey from Strikeforce). Despite his popularity and success in the octagon, however, he failed to receive a nomination at national broadcaster Rte’s year end awards.
Regardless of the lack of a nomination, many expected him to still turn up at the awards show, especially since he has a deal with Rte for a six-part mini-series chronicling his rise to the top of the sport. However, McGregor opted to skip the event, and released a typically ‘Notorious’ statement explaining why:
I appreciate the curiosity about my absence from these ‘Sport Awards’.

Conor McGregor, Ireland’s rising Ufc superstar, is a controversial figure in the Mma world, mainly due to criticism from the likes of Jose Aldo (who referred to him as a court Jester) and Matt Brown that suggested he talked his way into being a possible title contender. Not to mention fans who feel he’s just an Irish version of Chael Sonnen without the drug scandals.
It should come as little surprise, then, that McGregor isn’t overly critical of the Ufc signing former WWE champ Cm Punk, because he knows the value having a larger-than-life personality brings – but he does have a rather unique take on Punk’s words and actions when the signing was announced.
According to McGregor, speaking to Severe Mma,
Listening to him speak, when I heard the broadcast announcement I saw a man afraid. Like he signed up for something he didn’t want to be.

Over the past couple of years, the Ufc has probably had more disgruntled fighters than ever before. Rampage Jackson. Tito Ortiz. Nate Quarry. Tim Kennedy. Nick and Nate Diaz. These are just a handful of names past and present that are recognizable – there are a lot, lot more. Even current featherweight champion Jose Aldo has complained about his compensation from the company.
With the Ufc recently closing an official uniform deal with Reebok that eliminates all outside sponsorships for Ufc fighters at official events and fight weeks (fighters can still get sponsors, they just can’t have them on display during the periods mentioned), fighters are more agitated than ever before.
Well, it seems some may be pushing back.

Cm Punk’s first Ufc fight could be taking place in Dublin, Ireland.
Mma welterweight Cathal Pendred has claimed to be the man who will be fighting Punk, tweeting “Croke Park, 2015, Main Event: Aldo vs McGregor, Co-Main: Pendred vs Cm Punk, Ufc attendance record smashed. Ufc PPV sales record obliterated.”
He’d earlier tweeted “This punk is going to be ‘one & done’ in the Ufc. It looks like I will be that one. #JustWonTheLottery.”
If this information is true, then Punk will be fighting in front of 82,000 fans, which will be Ufc’s biggest crowd ever. It would make sense that Ufc would use a star of Punk’s calibre if they are planning on running a show this big.
The guy responsible for shifting those tickets is featherweight sensation Conor McGregor. This Irish fighter has had a phenomenal 2014 and looks an absolute killer in the cage. He...

WWE superstar Sheamus and Ufc fighter Conor McGregor have exchanged an intense war of words on Twitter. The two Irishmen are major stars in their respective brands. Recently, Conor was asked during an ‘Si Now’ appearance who would win in a fight if the two Irishmen ever met in a cage.
“I would whoop his ass. It would be no contest.” McGregor replied.
He’s right. Even with Sheamus’ height and weight advantage, McGregor would be able to utilise his elite Mma skills to win any scrap. However, the WWE superstar couldn’t resist differing in opinion.
“ok @SInowLIVE @ufc @TheNotoriousMMA, Conor wins. I don’t hit featherweights or shoeshine boys. Mouth off to @BrockLesnar fella, I’m injured.”
That was of course a dig at McGregor’s small stature. He’s a featherweight fighter, but one of the toughest men in all of Mma.

Lost in the busy schedule in the Mma world last weekend was the fact that there was a pretty huge non-title fight on the horizon. Well, the dust has settled, and it’s time to take a look at Ufc Fight Night 57, otherwise known as Ufc Fight Night: Edgar vs. Swanson.
Frankie Edgar is probably one of the best pound-for-pound fighters currently in the Ufc who doesn’t hold a championship of his own. The former lightweight champion had his title stolen by the judges almost as much as Benson Henderson back in 2012, and after dropping a rematch and moving to featherweight, he lost another close decision to Jose Aldo. Since then, however, he’s on a two-fight win streak, and could easily derail the Cub Swanson express.
Swanson, meanwhile, has won six straight at featherweight, and has been told by Dana White he’ll get the next crack...
