Without a doubt, Kevin Atwater is the purest, most universally adored, and best character in the series.
And it's always a delight when he gets some focus, which is precisely what Chicago Pd Season 11 Episode 11 set out to do as it touched on some of Atwater's finest attributes: his dedication, compassion, sympathy, and nobility.
But with all great attributes, there is a drawback, as everything is a double-edged sword.
The hour was a follow-up on Chicago Pd Season 11 Episode 5.
Overall, it was an average installment.
Kevin is such a beloved character, and he's often suffered almost as much as Trudy when he gets shoved into the background.
As a result, any time we spend with him at the forefront is a real treat. In that sense, you cling to his installments with a death grip because he finally gets focused, but Laroyce Hawkins is also incredible.

The Chicago P.D. hiatus ended with a new episode on Wednesday night.
When we last saw the show, Dante Torres was finishing up an undercover case to bring down a drug boss, Rafel Perez (Julio Cedillo).
During that case, Torres became romantically involved with the wife of Rafel Perez, Gloria Perez (Yara Martinez).
In a dramatic conclusion, Gloria killed Rafel. Rather than run, she told Torres she was remaining in Chicago. It could mean the story circles back later.
Also, earlier this season, the Chicago P.D. cast added actress Bojana Novakovic as Detective Josephine Petrovic. The quirky detective helped Intelligence on several cases, but Upton (Tracy Spiridakos) became suspicious of her and discovered a drinking problem.
A serial killer also remained on the loose, but this new episode was focused on a separate case.

As such, her fellow Chicago P.D. cast members are trying to enjoy their final moments on set with her.
Tracy has played Detective Hailey Upton on the hit NBC show for many years, but her run ends this spring.

It’s already been a pretty bleak start to Chicago P.D. Season 11 for Intelligence—and there’s more to come—so what these police officers really need is a chance to celebrate and have fun. The upcoming Burgess (Marina Squerciati) and Ruzek (Patrick John Flueger) wedding could be just that. And now, when that time comes, whenever it is, we really hope to see what Laroyce Hawkins (who plays Atwater) pitched to us when we suggested he has to be Ruzek’s best man. “I wouldn’t be surprised if Atwater marries them,” he tells TV Insider. “Every now and then, they take pages out of our personal playbooks for these characters. And Laroyce Hawkins is an ordained minister. I have been for about three years. I have married a couple before. So it would be dope to see them implement that and just to get everybody involved. Kevin Atwater is the very definition of a person who walks around with the world's weight on his shoulders.
He typically carries it well enough, leading with a big heart, a soft voice, a gentle demeanor, and a smile.
While we typically recognize the positive attributes of what could be perceived as a hero and a martyr complex, Chicago Pd Season 11 Episode 5 explored the underbelly of that and highlighted its adverse effects.
Our boy, Kevin Atwater, took the robbery case personally, internalized every faction, and spent the entire hour beating himself up.
It's a good sign that Atwater could spend this entire case trying to ensure he made the right calls and was tormented over losing Corey.
If you aren't deeply affected by losses, replaying how you could've done things better and holding yourself to a high standard, you shouldn't be in the job.

[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for Chicago P.D. Season 11 Episode 5 “Split Second.”] The members of Intelligence have had some tough cases over the years on Chicago P.D., and for Officer Kevin Atwater (Laroyce Hawkins), the latest is one of those that’s going to stick with him. The One Chicago shows took off Valentine’s Day, but new content is coming.
Chicago P.D. Season 11 has debuted four new episodes this winter. Each of them is available for streaming on Peacock.
The show also returns from its brief hiatus with a new episode on February 21.
The countdown is also on until the final episode for Tracy Spiridakos. She plays Detective Haily Upton, but it was announced that she is leaving the show.
It’s tough for Chicago P.D. fans to lose Upton too soon after Detective Jay Halstead left Intelligence.
Casting changes opens the door for new faces, but the team has felt pretty incomplete this season. Maybe that is intentional?

Hiatuses suck.
But you know what makes them worthwhile? Teases about what's to come!
They're a perfect way of holding us over until the newest installment.
And there's much to look forward to with Chicago Pd Season 11 Episode 5.
While the character-centric formulas continue to irk our spirits on occasion, it goes without a shadow of a doubt that the series never misses with Kevin Atwater episodes.
And thankfully, we're gearing up for his first character-centric installment of the season.
The Laroyce Hawkins fans like myself can rejoice over an hour that centers on his character, as it has been a while since we've gotten to check in with him on a more personal front.
And there's so much left to explore with his character, especially during this season, which takes a personal approach in style, peeling back layers to the characters and introducing us to different aspects of their lives...

The biggest challenge for Officer Kevin Atwater (Laroyce Hawkins) in the next Chicago P.D. episode highlighting his character is himself. In the February 21 “Split Second,” a string of jewelry store robberies shakes his confidence. “I think he’s most challenged just by really trying to get out of his own way. Atwater has a tendency to want to take full accountability for everything. Whether it’s his private endeavors with his building, his family, his team, he has a knack for just wanting to take it all,” Hawkins tells TV Insider. “And I think this episode, he struggles with that. So the challenge would be Atwater getting out of his own way and allowing himself the grace to be able to grow and let go.” The good news: He has Intelligence to back him up. “He is going to be leaning on everybody, and you’ll see pops where...

Being at the bottom of the Hollywood ladder, production assistants are often overlooked and particularly vulnerable — especially in hard times like the current Writers Guild and SAG-AFTRA strikes. Several cast and production members at Chicago P.D. are stepping in to help the 13 set and office PAs on the popular NBC series, pitching in to give each of them $1,500. NBC’s Chicago P.D. Season 11 is hopefully coming soon, though the season’s experiencing severe delays due to the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes. Season 11 premiere? Here’s what we suspect.
When will ‘Chicago P.D.’ Season 11 premiere with the actors and writers strike?

Unfortunately, the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes impact the Chicago Fire Season 12 release date. Here’s what to know.
When will ‘Chicago Fire’ Season 12 premiere with the actors and writers strike?
Chicago Fire Season 12 won’t premiere in September 2023 as NBC originally intended. Unfortunately, the current WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes mean Chicago Fire will experience a significant delay in its return. As of July 2023, writers and actors are on strike for better conditions and fair pay.
So, what does this mean for NBC? The network will air reality TV shows in the fall. They also plan to air TV shows they acquired before the strikes began. With that said, One Chicago fans can still get their fix,...
