Academy Awards officials released a short list of contenders for Best Original Song on Monday. It was the first time ever that the composers branch has whittled a massive number of entries down to just 15 tunes and announced those names to the public. Top stars are among the songwriters eligible to win an Oscar, including Lady Gaga, Dolly Parton, Troye Sivan, Kendrick Lamar and more.

Keep in mind that only the writers would actually be nominated on January 22 for Academy Awards, but you might see some of the performers on stage for the ceremony. The SAG Foundation hosted “The Night Before” event at 54 Below in New York City on Sunday night. The event, affectionately called a “friendraiser” instead of a fundraiser, celebrated the debut of the first annual New York Golf Classic. The Golf Classic has been a successful event in Los Angeles for four years, and Sunday night’s event kicked off the event for the east coast. Actor and SAG Foundation President JoBeth Williams welcomed the intimate crowd to the event, and thanked everyone for lending their time and resources to supporting the SAG Foundation. Jim Casey, president and CEO of Integrated Wealth management, one of the event’s sponsors, welcomed guests after a few hours of networking and cocktails. “I am the entertainment!” Casey joked, calling attention to the fact that a stage and a live band could be addictive for anyone. The other event sponsors were Harold Matzner and One America.

Chris Isaacson Presents and Upright Cabaret just presented the West Coast debut of up-and-coming Broadway songwriting duo of Kait Kerrigan and Brian Lowdermilk featuring performances by Sarah Hyland 'Modern Family', Melissa Benoist 'Glee', Barrett Foa 'NCIS-La', Max Ehrich 'Young and The Restless,' Broadway Newsies, Dezmond Meeks 'America's Got Talent', Meghann Fahy 'One Life To Live,' Broadway Next To Normal, Matt Sax 'Clay', Morgan Karr Spring Awakening, Arielle Jacobs In The Heights, Colleen Ballinger 'Miranda Sings', Laura Dickinson 'Disney's Phineas amp Ferb' and more.

Sunday July 15th is the last day of Comic-Con 2012, and most of us will be completely worn out looking like Spider-Man in the image above. Chances are he's asleep under that mask. Sunday has always been a cool down day for us, we kind of just try to relax a little bit more and enjoy it. That doesn't mean their isn't anything to see or do though!
