There is no doubt Jonathan Majors’ star is shining brighter this year thanks to his villainous turns in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania and Creed III. On top of that, he’s gaining incredible buzz for his performance in the upcoming bodybuilding drama Magazine Dreams. Now, the former Lovecraft Country star is set to produce and star in a film titled Da Understudy. It is also reported that the project may even see a reunion with Majors and his Da 5 Bloods director, Spike Lee.
According to Deadline, “Da Understudy tells the story of life imitating art when the understudy of a Broadway production finds a role he’s willing to kill for.” The film will be made under Westbrook Studios and Amazon Studios. Majors is also set to produce the film under his production company, Tall Street Productions. Amazon Studios landed the script on spec in competition with other studios.

With yet another box office success under his belt via Creed III, Jonathan Majors is lining up more future projects. He's now aboard to star in and produce new drama Da Understudy, which could see him reuniting with his Da 5 Bloods director Spike Lee.
Da Understudy, written by Tom Hanada, Zach Strauss and Tyler Cole based on an original story by Cole, tells the story of life imitating art when the understudy of a Broadway production finds a role he’s willing to kill for.
According to Deadline, Lee is considering directing this one, which is being produced by Amazon Studios. We'll see if that works out, but a re-teaming of Majors and Lee is certainly something to look forward to.
With Ant-Man And The Wasp: Quantumania already open, Majors will next be seen in acclaimed indie drama Magazine Dreams, though it has yet to lock down a UK distributor.

With it being three years since 2020’s Da 5 Bloods, we’ve been awaiting word on when his next film would be confirmed and now it looks like a contender has emerged with Da Understudy.

Since she began releasing self-produced bedroom pop in the mid-2010s, Willow Smith has been guided by her own muse, smashing genres into one another while telling her story in painstaking detail. All the while, she’s been dragging pop into weirder, darker spaces. The wobbly 2015 bedroom-funk cut “Wait a Minute!” has had streaming-service staying power unmatched by most radio hits of its era, while the 2020 track “Meet Me at Our Spot,” credited to her project with partner Tyler Cole known as the Anxiety, is animated by a furtive yet...
