Exclusive: All Def Digital and Sky-backed producer Jupiter Entertainment have struck a deal to adapt the hip hop and comedy platform’s digital media series for television.
The two companies have struck a partnership to adapt All Def Digital’s library of content, including music formats The Crate and Bar Exam.
All Def, which was founded by Russell Simmons, was acquired by Culture Genesis, the La-based digital studio whose investors include rapper T.I, Grand Hustle Records’ founder Jason Geter, NBA star Baron Davis and venture-capital firms Betaworks and Mucker Capital, last year.
Culture Genesis co-founders Shaun Newsum and Cedric J. Reardon, in particular, has experience in this space, working on projects such as Time: The Kalief Browder Story and #FreeMeek during his time as head of television and film for Roc Nation.

Heir, a public relations firm that works with brands such as Sweet Chick and Kappa Sport, is merging with the Lede Company. Christine Su, the founder of Heir, will become a co-ceo and partner in the Lede Company.
No money is changing hands, the two agencies are just joining forces. The Lede Company was founded in June by former 42West publicists Amanda Silverman, Meredith O’Sullivan Wasson, and Sarah Levinson Rothman. Its clients include Rihanna, Will Smith, Reese Witherspoon, and Lady Gaga. It also does a great deal of corporate work, with a roster that includes Illumination and Anonymous Content.
The addition of Heir enables the Lede Company to move more fully into branding, augmenting its current corporate and talent work. Su has worked with Complex Media, Adidas Group, Havaianas, and most recently Converse, where she led its global communications strategy for more than four years.

Quite how it is possible to make a heist thriller this sluggish and leaden, when it has such an appealing cast of actors and a strong visual style, is a genuinely tantalising question. John Luessenhop, who makes his first major cinematic contribution with Takers, evidently has aspirations to be the next Michael Mann, but when he borrows so greedily from the crime thriller shopping list, he hasn’t got a chance. Not even a good effort from Matt Dillon – who seems to play the hard-done-by cop/security guard for the umpteenth time here – can provide this stodgy outing with the caffeine kick it is sorely in need of.
Takers was released this week on Blu-ray, here’s our review.
The premise is evidently very simple; a group of bank robbers take something of a perverse enjoyment in staging elaborate, ridiculous bank robberies, and when a recently paroled former team-mate returns to offer them one final,...

The Film:
Everyone dreams of the riches. In a capitalist world, it’s all about the money. First you get the money, then you get the power, as was best said in Scarface, I think, but for every come-up, we get the slew of petty would-be’s that won’t understand the game and end up letting it corrupt them. Interestingly, Takers is a heist film in the Age of the Great Recession, even though it isn’t talked about, the feeling of the film and the actions and subtle bits of dialogue, are products of this new age of the American economy. It was bound to happen, this pop piece of the fallout of our country’s brokenness. It’s all for a silly second-rate heist film, but that doesn’t stop Takers from being the new go-getter on the block, that for a few seconds turns a head or two.
