Discovery Channel is entering the dating game with series orders for three shows that blend romance with nature, entertainment and adventure, including “Naked and Afraid of Love,” “Mating Season” and “Mountain Love,” TheWrap has learned exclusively.
The trio of series will be available across Discovery, Inc. platforms later this year.
Here’s the official description for “Naked and Afraid of Love”:
Today, dating has become filtered – through the clothes we wear, jobs we have, and lives we share on social media. But what if it was all stripped away — the filters, dating apps and curated personas — leaving room for only our most primal wants and needs, and exposing who we really are in the process? Would we forge stronger connections? Discovery seeks to answer these questions and more in “Naked and Afraid of Love,” a groundbreaking take on modern dating that is the ultimate blend of survival and romance unlike anything viewers have seen.

Even beyond the continental United States, 2020 has been the pits. Discovery Channel’s “Alaska the Last Frontier” returns for its 10th season on Sunday, Oct. 25, and if it’s not one thing up in Homer, it’s another.
Beyond Covid, this year, the Kilcher family must contend with wildfires, dead animals, a local bear, sleep deprivation, some gnarly injuries — yeah, it’s a whole thing.
In addition to the premiere date-knowledge we just dropped, TheWrap also has your first look at all the insanity. Watch the Season 10 “super tease” via the video above.
The Kilchers have lived on their homestead for 80 years and they ain’t going nowhere — even when others definitely have to. This season, when film crews had to be evacuated just nine days into production due to the growing global pandemic, The Kilcher clan elected to film themselves for the next 10 weeks.

Gone is the intensely personal documentary about Kathy Gilleran, a retired New York policewoman whose adult son Aeryn suddenly disappeared in Vienna, Austria, in 2007. Gretchen: We first read about Aeryn's disappearance and his mother's efforts to find him in a local newspaper in Syracuse, NY. John: Kathy's struggle to find her son, combined with her experience as a veteran police officer, makes her a fascinating and powerful protagonist to follow. Tribeca: Let's talk logistics.
