Christmas Eve is a workday for Carlos Alcaraz who shared photos of his training session before the grand battle against rival Novak Djokovic in an exibition.
Alcaraz and Djokovic accepted an undisclosed offer - although the paycheck is projected to be in seven figures - to play one match in Saudi Arabia on December 27 as part of the Riyadh Season - an annual government-sponsored entertainment and sports festival.
A Wta match featuring Ons Jabeur against Aryna Sabalenka will take place on Boxing Day. Alcaraz's season ended on November 18 at the hands of Djokovic in the semifinal of the Atp Finals in Turin.

Yibing Wu has named former Atp No. 6 Wayne Ferreira his new coach, but the retired South African star will not work alone.
The idea of working with two coaches has become a norm on the Atp Tour, with several established stars having at least two tennis coaches within their camps, outside of their hitting partners and physiotherapists.
Some Atp players in a dual partnership include Jannik Sinner, who works with Simone Vagnozzi and Darren Cahill. The pair won the men's tour's 2023 Coach of the Year award.
Greece's Stefanos Tsitsipas simultaneously worked with his father, Apostolos, and former Wimbledon finalist Mark Philippoussis, but that alliance was short-lived. World No. 2 Carlos Alcaraz works with Juan Carlos Ferrero and Samuel Lopez.

Carlos Alcaraz's achievements have been honored at the academy of the man who has contributed so much to his development.
Juan Carlos Ferrero has been Alcaraz's coach since he first came onto the Atp Tour. However, his influence on the two-time Grand Slam champion's career goes back even further than that.
Alcaraz began playing at the academy, where his father was the director. But in 2018, he started to train at Ferrero's academy, and their partnership has continued ever since.
Ferrero was present at the unveiling of the court naming. He said a few words in honor of Alcaraz's achievements, and the 20-year-old responded with some complimentary remarks about the impact Ferrero has had.
The unveiling was also notable for one other reason. One of Alcaraz's biggest rivals was also present to witness this proud moment in the Wimbledon champion's life.

Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner enjoyed fun-filled practice sessions together under the watchful eyes of their respective coaches ahead of the new season.

Paul Annacone, Roger Federer's former coach, believes that Carlos Alcaraz is the most complete young player we've ever seen on the Atp Tour.
It's not a grandiose statement by any means because it's been said so many times already. Alcaraz is certainly one of the most complete young stars to emerge in recent memory. Some of the things he did were quite special, including becoming the youngest world number one ever.
That doesn't just happen by chance and it came after a sudden and dramatic rise as a teenager. His Wimbledon triumph over Djokovic further cemented his status as a special player and now it's about finding out how his career shapes out.
He's good enough to win 10+ Grand Slams, which is something that Federer's former coach, Paul Annacone, who spoke on the Rock n Roll Tennis Podcast, certainly sees in his future.

Less than a month before the start of a brand new tennis season, the countdown for the next year's first Grand Slam tournament has begun.
The 2024 Australian Open is set to kick in on a rather unusual day. For the first time in the tournament's history, it will be staged beginning on Sunday, January 14.
For the world's top tennis players, it is imperative to get a few matches under their belts to avoid being caught cold in a Grand Slam tournament. As is the norm, they engage in at least one or even two warm-up events to acclimatize to the playing conditions and refine their game.
But that is not necessarily the case for at least four players ranked in the world's Top 50 who will head to next year's Australian Open without signing up for a tune-up Atp tournament. So, who are these players?

Carlos Alcaraz's coach, Juan Carlos Ferrero, won't be traveling with his protege to the year's first major in Australia.
The 2024 Australian Open is just around the corner and is set for a historic Sunday start next year, on January 14, 2024, where 128 men will vie for the right to become Grand Slam champions. Alcaraz, who is among the favorites, will play at the event for the first time in two years.
Last year, the 20-year-old missed Melbourne's biggest party of the summer due to a leg injury and only began his 2023 campaign in mid-February in South America. Ahead of the new season, Alcaraz has no reported health concerns and will be on the flight to Australia.
The Spaniard will launch a fresh assault on the World No. 1 ranking that he lost to Novak Djokovic at the end of last season. However, Alcaraz must challenge the Serbian ace without a vital voice in his coaching team.

Novak Djokovic's coach, Goran Ivanisevic, did not win the Atp's 2023 Coach of the Year award, and many were upset about it, including the Serbian himself.
The 24-time Grand Slam champion had one of the best seasons in his career, with his coach Ivanisevic guiding him along the way. However, it was Darren Cahill and Simone Vagnozzi who won the Coach of the Year award, as they led Jannik Sinner during the 2023 season.
Immediately after the award was announced, many fans were enraged by the fact that it wasn't Djokovic's coach who got the award. Their rage was later supported by Djokovic as he also hit out at the Atp in a social media post.
But was Ivanisevic really snubbed when it comes to the Coach of the Year award, or was it given in-line with the past seasons and former winners? Well, let's look at the history.

One of the most underrated things about Carlos Alcaraz's career is the stability he has with coach Juan Carlos Ferrero.
If you've ever stumbled upon some tennis-talking heads talking about tennis, you might have heard them talk about stability. Let's take the example of Emma Raducanu, whose coaching carousel garnered plenty of attention.
Quite a few tennis pundits have pleaded with Raducanu to settle on a coach and just stick with it, but it didn't happen. Yet. To be fair, playing tennis would be a great start for her, as the Brit is struggling with injuries.
On the opposite side of that spectrum is Carlos Alcaraz. He's been coached by the same coach for years now, and it's none other than former number-one Juan Carlos Ferrero.

Carlos Alcaraz recently broke the Top 20 list in career prize money, eclipsing former World No. 5 Jo-Wilfried Tsonga to reach that mark.
This season, Alcaraz became the first player born in the 2000s to cross the $20 million in career earnings and has added to his bank account during his stay on indoor hard courts in autumn, taking his total prize money to $22,583,074.
Alcaraz sits precisely in the 20th spot on the list which is quite an impressive rise considering he made his full Atp debut in 2020 at the Rio Open as a 16-year-old. He has developed into an elite athlete under the guidance of former World No. 1 Juan Carlos Ferrero.

Carlos Alcaraz was visibly frustrated during his match against Novak Djokovic at the 2023 Atp Finals, throwing his racquet at one point.
Despite playing tennis with a lot of passion, Alcaraz is not known for explosive racquet throwing or similar things. It did happen in his most recent match against Djokovic when he threw his racquet toward his bench after getting broken for a 5-2 score in the second set.
It was a bad match from the Spaniard, which was very frustrating because he actually opened it well. He seemed to be focused and played the rallies pretty well, but throughout the match, Djokovic established control.
The racquet throw was a combination of frustration and desperation because the Spaniard couldn't find a breakthrough no matter what he tried. He was asked about it by the media after the match and made some comments.

Juan Carlos Ferrero has detailed the key areas in which Carlos Alcaraz can improve in his game to develop into an elite athlete.
At just 20, Alcaraz has already accomplished what over half the tour can call a dream career. He has won two Grand Slams, ascended to No. 1, and recently finished as the second-highest-paid active tennis player in the past year, according to Forbes.
But he is far from a finished article, at least according to the eyes of a man who has played an integral role in shaping Alcaraz into the modern-day tennis phenomenon that he is. Ferrero believes Alcaraz needs to "be more consistent" in his matches.
That doesn't imply Alcaraz isn't winning tennis matches. In fact, he has won a ton this season, the second-most on tour. But rather, the fact that he is "opening doors" for his opponents during matches.

The former coach of Roger Federer, Paul Annacone, believes that Carlos Alcaraz's journey will have to go through Novak Djokovic.
The 36-year-old Serbian is still one of the best players in the world, which he proved this year multiple times. He's likely going to finish as number one in front of Alcaraz in 2023, and that shows that if the Spaniard wants to be at the top, he'll have to go through Djokovic.
It's just how it happens in tennis because Djokovic himself had to go through Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal to find himself at the top. Alcaraz now needs to prove that he can because the last time he took the top spot, Djokovic couldn't play.
Annacone talked to the Tennis Channel's Inside-In Podcast on which he discussed the young Spaniard's career, as well as his coach Juan Carlos Ferrero.

Carlos Alcaraz penned a touching tribute to Jose Manuel Madrona, who works at the Ferrero Tennis Academy, after he suffered a near-fateful motorcycle accident.
The 20-year-old defeated France's Gregoire Barrere 6-2, 7-5 to advance into the round of 32 in Shanghai. After the match, Alcaraz dedicated his win by signing off on the camera lens, 'Madrona, this victory is for you,' as the direct translation in English.
Madrona has been an academy coach at the Jc Ferrero Tennis Academy and has known Alcaraz personally, with the World No. 2 frequenting the premises when he returns to Spain. Alcaraz is also a product of the academy, having been trained and nurtured by his longtime coach Juan Carlos Ferrero, since the age of 15.

Alcaraz is now an established and experienced name in the sport, but he hasn't forgotten his roots or the people who have played an integral role in honing his skills from a young age.

Carlos Alcaraz is reportedly planning to set up a tennis academy in his home city of Murcia and that which will bear his name.
The 20-year-old's father, Carlos Alcaraz Gonzalez, has deep tennis roots and is the man who envisioned this project. Spanish outlet Okdiario reports that it could take years before young Alcaraz fulfills this dream, but he's got the brains, the star power, and an increasing net worth that makes this a viable venture.
Since his Atp debut at the age of 16 in 2020, Alcaraz has made an explosive climb in the tennis ranks. Now 20, Alcaraz has won two Grand Slams and four Masters 1000 titles. He is the only man born after 1990 to win multiple Slams. In 2022, he became the youngest year-end No. 1 in Atp history.

Juan Carlos Ferrero rarely misses Carlos Alcaraz 's matches, but he does at times, which doesn't phase Alcaraz much, as per his admission.
Ferrero and Alcaraz have been working for a while now, with the former player being d escribed as a second father by Alcaraz . A brilliant player in his own regard, Ferrero was uniquely qualified to guide Alcaraz through his rapid rise in tennis.
He's been described as the crucial part of Alcaraz's team and deserves a ton of credit for guiding Alcaraz through what was an incredible breakout year on the Atp Tour. As a coach, Ferrero rarely misses his matches, but as a family man, he does sometimes.
It's not something that phases Alcaraz so much as his US Open run proved last year. Ferrero was absent for a good chunk of that but rushed in time to make the final and see the result of their hard work.

Boris Becker shared his thoughts on the 2023 Cincinnati Masters final between Carlos Alcaraz and Novak Djokovic, admitting he was impressed with Juan Carlos Ferrero's coaching.
The German obviously has a deep adoration for Djokovic, whom he used to coach, but also tremendous respect for Carlos Alcaraz and what he's been able to do. Another thing that's been impressive to see is Juan Carlos Ferrero and his coaching.
The former world number one knows tennis as well as anybody, and he's been doing a tremendous job with Alcaraz. They have been working for a long time, and Ferrero is like a second father to Alcaraz . It's a very strong bond between them, and Becker was impressed as he revealed on Eurosport Germany's Das Gelbe vom Ball podcast .

Watching Juan Carlos Ferrero in the perimeters of the player box evokes a keenness to the highest order and measured calmness that few tennis coaches can match.
But on Sunday, even the man nicknamed 'Mosquito' during his playing days was perhaps the noisiest person inside centre court. Ferrero was emotionally invested in the nail-biting and nerve-shredding drama that saw his charge come extremely close to beating Novak Djokovic for a second time this season .
Carlos Alcaraz has previously stated the unshakable bond that the pair of them enjoy, and he's called him a father figure in his development to become the player he is . Ferrero most certainly played an integral role to keep Alcaraz's interest in the match, spilling instructions just when it looked like Alcaraz began to tighten up in his service games.

Carlos Alcaraz 's Cincinnati Masters campaign got off to a great start, but the Spaniard was pushed to his limits by the indefatigable Jordan Thompson .
World No. 1 Alcaraz came from a break down the first set and needed the full three sets to beat Thompson 7-5, 4-6, 6-3 in a match that lasted 12 minutes shy of three hours. Alcaraz's momentum in the match was stalled multiple times by rain showers in unusually chilly conditions in Ohio.
Playing at the Western & Southern Open for just the third time in his career, Alcaraz is fully aware that anything less than a runner-up finish in Cincinnati could keep Novak Djokovic interested in the race to become the Atp 's No. 1 for the 2023 US Open.

Carlos Alcaraz is already enjoying his fourth stint as the highest-ranked player on the Atp Tour, but how does he compare to the tennis greats?
When the young Spaniard won the 2022 US Open, he became the youngest man ever to become the world number one . Since then, he has lost the spot because of injuries, but also because of Novak Djokovic's dominance early in the season.
After the two players traded the top spot multiple times, Alcaraz started his reign again on June 26th, 2023 , and he has kept the spot since then. Djokovic had a chance to retake it during the 2023 Wimbledon final , but since he lost, it's the 20-year-old who sits atop also now.
That means that Alcaraz spent already 30 weeks as the highest-ranked player on the Atp Tour, and the number is excepted to increase even further, but where does he rank right now among all men that reached the world no.

Winning Wimbledon in the way Alcaraz did it will take a while for him to digest properly, but he's in no rush to do that. Life is treating him well right now as the number one player in the world and the reigning Wimbledon champion.
Even so, there is very little time to think about what has happened. The season is still going on, there are big events coming up, events Alcaraz wants to win . Beating Djokovic on grass is tremendous, but even more so when put into perspective with Alcaraz's track record on the surface.

Carlos Alcaraz 's long-term coach and former Atp player Juan Carlos Ferrero believes the 20-year-old's Wimbledon win is emotional and difficult to articulate.

The result was made even more impressive following Alcaraz's difficulty on grass last season when he was eliminated in the fourth round by Jannik Sinner. However, Ferrero, who has coached Alcaraz since he was 15, explained to Spanish radio station Cope , that the 20-year-old's Wimbledon victory was emotional because of the huge behind-the-scenes effort.

London, July 17 (Ians) Spain’s Carlos Alcaraz retained the world No.1 position in the latest Atp rankings released on Monday after beating Novak Djokovic to win his first Wimbledon and second Grand Slam singles title.

London, July 17 (Ians) Carlos Alcaraz’s coach Juan Carlos Ferrero has revealed the key to his protege’s quick adaptation to playing on grass and said he and Alcaraz took elements from the playing styles of Novak Djokovic, Andy Murray and Roger Federer heading into the tournament.

Carlos Alcaraz is going to contest his first-ever Wimbledon final and it will be against possibly the most difficult opponent of them all.
Only one man won the Wimbledon title more times than Novak Djokovic, and his name is Roger Federer. However, since the Swiss Maestro is currently retired, the Serb is the most dominant active Atp player at Wimbledon, and his dominance is confirmed by the fact that he won the last four editions of the event.
Moreover, Djokovic is yet to lose on the Centre Court since 2013 , and he's a big favourite going into the final match, unlike at the Roland Garros . But the 36-year-old defeated his opponent on the Parisian clay, and he will be hoping for the same result also in London.
Even Alcaraz said that his opponent will be the favourite , but his coach, Juan Carlos Ferrero, doesn't want to 'make the giant even bigger'.

Both of them were scheduled to appear at the Hurlingham exhibition and while Djokovic did play Alcaraz pulled out of both matches . Fans were worried whether some pain he felt in the Queen's final was the reason but he reassured everybody that he was healthy enough.

It was a good start for him as he was able to survive a really tricky situation. Hours before the match his opponent changed due to a late withdrawal of Arthur Fils from the 2023 Cinch Championships . And Arthur Rinderknech is not the kind of lucky loser you'll be happy to see, especially not on a grass court.

Carlos Alcaraz will make his debut at the 2023 Cinch Championships at the Queen's Club, but not against the opponent he expected.
When the draw came out for the 2023 Cinch Championships , the 20-year-old Spaniard knew that he had to wait before he gets to know his first-round opponent. That was because it was supposed to be one of the qualifiers, and the qualifying was still underway.
Once the qualifying concluded and after the qualifiers were drawn, the World No. 2 on the Atp Tour found out that a talented 19-year-old Frenchman, Arthur Fils, will be his first-round opponent, after he defeated Hugo Grenier and Alexei Popyrin in the qualifying.
However, only a couple of hours before the match between the two talented players was set to start, the Frenchman announced that he won't be competing at the Queen's Club main draw, as he was forced to withdraw from the event.

Carlos Alcaraz arrived in London on Saturday but he didn't arrive with his longtime coach Juan Carlos Ferrero with him.
Carlos Alcaraz generally travels with Juan Carlos Ferrero though that hasn't been always the case. The Spaniard notably was at the US Open without his coach in the early stages though Ferrero naturally arrived for the conclusion of the event.
Generally, Ferrero is with him around the Atp Tour, but he's a family man so at times he skips some events in order to stay back with his family. That's the case this week as Alcaraz gets ready to play at the 2023 Cinch Championships in the week of June 19th.
Despite not being with Ferrero, Alcaraz will have a coach this week as he will be helped out by the very experienced Samuel Lopez who is the current coach of Pablo Carreno Busta. Alcaraz and Carreno Busta are close, having...

Roger Federer is one of the greatest tennis players of all time, probably the most iconic player in the history of the game.
Federer's impact on tennis is incredible. From the legendary career that he crafted to the global impact, he had as the 'perfect' ambassador to the sport. His career inspired many of the players we have today with the vast majority considering him as their idol. It's why some consider him the greatest of all time even though stats might say it's somebody else.
Federer's arrival in tennis catapulted the sport to new heights becoming a global phenomenon. No player was ever as popular as Federer is and that wide support is not wavering even now a year after his retirement. It's been a year but a busy year for Federer who still has all eyeballs on himself wherever he goes.

Novak Djokovic 's 2023 Roland Garros experience finished with a trophy and it's the most desired outcome from him.
Yes, it's been a great two weeks for Djokovic in Paris as he's leaving the French capital with a trophy following an impressive performance in the final. The first man in history to win 23 grand slams revealed something interesting in his post-match press conference something that's not really common among tennis players, at least most of them.
Unlike Ruud who did practice ahead of the match day, Djokovic opted to skip practice and it wasn't the first time he did that at this year's Roland Garros. He did it at the Australian Open as well though he was injured back then. This year it's nothing related to an injury but mostly to recover better after some tough battles.
Well, I skipped practice yesterday. It's kind of a story of the Grand Slams this year for me.

There are very few people who are not impressed with the way Carlos Alcaraz is playing right now or how his career unfolded.
Becoming the youngest world number one on the Atp Tour in a sport where we had legends like Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic and many more before him means something, and doing so by winning his maiden grand slam only made it more stylish.
Since then Alcaraz has largely backed up his achievement winning 10 trophies so far in his career and a pretty good chance of making another grand slam final at this year's Roland Garros . To get there he needs to only beat Novak Djokovic but he's done it before.
His coach Juan Carlos Ferrero had a very interesting response when asked about Alcaraz's level against Tsitsipas. It was sensational but for Ferrero, it's the level he's come to expect of Alcaraz knowing what he can do.

Carlos Alcaraz had a very interesting routine at the 2023 Roland Garros and his coach Juan Carlos Ferrero explained why.
Alcaraz has been playing really well since he broke out basically. Slowly but surely Alcaraz worked his way to a great level and eventually he even became world number one. It's the same rank he occupies right now as the Roland Garros is going on.
Alcaraz's tennis is a very aggressive one as he plays with a lot of power and hits the ball really hard. It's something that hasn't been the case always in tennis but the newer generations generally play very aggressive tennis. Alcaraz is among them but that playstyle can also have drawbacks.
Many don't consider a style that you can sustain for a long period of time, like a decade, without risking injury. Alcaraz's himself already had a few injuries which some attributed to the way he plays tennis.

Carlos Alcaraz was superb in his first match at the 2023 Roland Garros, defeating Flavio Cobolli in straight sets.
The young Spaniard entered the second Grand Slam of the season as the biggest favourite and he also entered it as the top-seeded player and the world no. 1. Prior to the tournament, Alcaraz's coach Juan Carlos Ferrero calmed expectations of the fans, saying that everyone can lose in the first round.
But the 20-year-old wanted to avoid that, but so did his first-round opponent 21-year-old Flavio Cobolli from Italy. The two never met before on the Atp Tour, with their first match being played on Court Suzanne-Lenglen.
While according to Marion Bartoli, the Spaniard isn't an overwhelming favourite, others had different opinions. Mats Wilander said that Alcaraz is the most exciting player that has ever walked on a tennis court and in the first round of the Roland Garros, Alcaraz confirmed the...

Juan Carlos Ferrero won his only grand slam trophy at Roland Garros in Paris 20 years ago and he had a press conference to mark it however the dominant topic quickly became Carlos Alcaraz.
Juan Carlos Ferrero was a very good tennis player, one that reached number one in the rankings lifting one grand slam trophy as well. That trophy was a Roland Garros one as he triumphed in the City of Lights in 2003.
His press conference about that however quickly switched topics to Carlos Alcaraz and the ultimate professional Ferrero obliged. He first talked about Alcaraz and the difference between this year's version of him and last year's.
As a person, I would say he's more mature. As a player, I think he grows up like super fast on the court. He can let's say, read the matches a little bit better. Even before the match, like talking about the match,...

Paris, May 28 (Ians) Novak Djokovic, who is chasing the historic and record 23rd Grand Slam trophy at the French Open, has said it’s very flattering and motivating for him.
If the Serbian triumphs in Paris, he will clinch a record 23rd Grand Slam trophy, moving one clear of Spaniard Rafael Nadal. He is relishing the opportunity to set another record when he takes to court at the clay-court major.
“It’s no secret that one of the main reasons I play today and compete in professional tennis is to try to break more records and make more history in tennis,” Djokovic said in his pre-tournament press conference.
“That’s extremely motivating and inspiring for me… History being on the line is something that is very flattering and is very motivating, no doubt about it,” he added.
The third seed Djokovic arrives in Pairs holding a 5-3 record on clay this season.

Carlos Alcaraz has a very clear dream when it comes to his tennis career and that's to become one of the best players in history.
Whenever you opt to dream about becoming one of the best in history at something you clearly signal ambition. When you embrace it publicly you kind of ensure that you're going to get an odd look or two but in the case of Carlos Alcaraz, it's not unfathomable.
Mostly because his career so far has been following the trajectory of a player that might end up being one of the best in history. He's played 12 finals so far winning 9 of them. He is 3/3 in the Atp 1000 Masters final and 1/1 in the Grand Slam finals and all of that came before he turned 20.
