I don't know about you, but I'm a huge fan of Christopher Guest and the film's he has made! This is the man behind such film classics as Spinal Tap, Best in Show, A Mighty Wind and Waiting for Guffman, all of which are absolutely hilarious! If you haven't seen these films yet you've got to watch them now! This guy is the master of comedic mockumentaries, and I couldn't be more excited about the premise of his next movie.
According to The Women of the Web, Guest and collaborators Harry Shearer and Michael McKean are going to make a film "about the world of of retro collectors; people who ferret out such things as old comic books, Barbie dolls, vintage magazine ads, vinyl 45-rpm singles, or even – ick! – Charles Manson song lyrics written on Kleenex. There’s a massive underground of collectors who would do the Borgia’s proud...

For all you mockumentary fans out there, the creative minds behind Waiting For Guffman and Best in Show are lining up a new film. That's right, director Christopher Guest, Harry Shearer and Michael McKean are teaming up to deliver their next film, this time focusing on the world of retro collectors. Women on the Web [1]states that the usual cast members from past Guest films are being considered, such as Parker Posey, Michael Patrick Higgins, and Jane Lynch. I'm sure that other regulars like Eugene Levy, Catherine O'Hara, Jennifer Coolidge will be getting involved as the project develops. It's not actually said whether the film will be a mockumentary or more traditional narrative like For Your Consideration. This seems like a perfect pairing of material and talent. Guest and company are experts at exploring these little sub-cultures and milking the eccentricities of the people who inhabit them. Seriously, I can't...

Christopher Guest, the director behind such mockumentaries as "Waiting for Guffman," "Best in Show" and "A Might Wind," is re-teaming with Harry Shearer and Michael McKean for a new mockumentary that takes on the world of retro collectors. According to Woman On The Web the new movie will focus on people who seek out such things as old comic books, Barbie dolls, vintage magazine ads, vinyl 45-rpm singles and even Charles Manson song lyrics written on Kleenex. The story would focus on the massive underground group of collectors who constantly scheme and double-cross to possess the items that they crave. Guest is looking to also bring back Michael Patrick Higgins, Jane Lynch and Parker Posey. While on topic, Guest said that he is constantly being asked about a "Spinal Tap" sequel, but insists that nothing could come close to the original and thus is not interested in trying.

It's been four years since Christopher Guest assembled his friends to make a mockumentary. His last film, For Your Consideration, wasn't as well received as previous outings, such as Best In Show or A Mighty Wind, but the next effort from the troupe has been long-awaited to say the least. Now we finally know what the next film will focus one. WowWowWow has gotten word that Guest, along with cohorts Harry Shearer and Michael McKean, has decided to make his next film about collectors. Collectors of what? Everything you can think of, from old comic books to "Charles Manson song lyrics written on Kleenex." The site also says that regulars Jane Lynch and Parker Posey are being considered for the project, as is John Michael Higgins (who they mistakenly call "Michael Patrick Higgins," despite the fact that Michael Patrick Higgins died in 2008). This seems like perfect material for the group,...

Christopher Guest has made a habit out of being hilarious. In fact, it's not just a habit — it's a full-fledged career, as evidenced by his catalogue of brilliant mockumentaries including "Waiting for Guffman," "Best in Show" and "A Mighty Wind."
Guest could retire from the moviemaking game today and I would be wholly satisfied with his body work, but thankfully, he's not retiring — not even close. A new report suggests that Guest, alongside his "This is Spinal Tap" colleagues Harry Shearer and Michael McKean, is about to begin work on yet another mockumentary, this time about a topic that's close to home for those of us who proudly call ourselves geeks: the world of retro collectors.
According to The Women on the Web (via Cinematical), Guest's developing mockumentary will focus on the folks who collect "old comic books, Barbie dolls, vintage magazine ads, vinyl 45-rpm singles, or even — ick! — Charles Manson...
