"The tiniest amount of bad luck can shut down our entire operation!" In honor of St. Patrick's Day today, Apple TV+ has debuted a fun animated short film titled Bad Luck Spot!. It's a spin-off from their movie Luck, which already opened last year on the streaming platform. When bad luck finds its way into the Land of Luck, this elite team of bunnies spring into action to take care of it and keep things lucky. The animated short picks up where the film leaves off, following a trio of "Hazmat Bunnies" who collect a "dangerous" bad luck spot from the protagonist Sam's shoe. They end up getting into all kinds of trouble in this Land of Luck place. The short is directed by animation filmmaker Matt Youngberg and produced by Laurel Ladevich. Made by Skydance Animation, this 5-minute comedy short is just another promo for the feature-length Luck movie.

Nothing can stop DuckTales. That applies not just to the characters of the series but the crew behind it. Throughout the run of the series they not only redefined DuckTales for a new generation but also crafted a beautifully woven story that developed every single one of its cast of characters. Along the way they also brought back other beloved Disney TV classics like Darkwing Duck, TaleSpin, Rescue Rangers, and even mega deep cuts like Fluppy Dogs.
They pulled all that off but the finale presented the crew of DuckTales with their biggest challenge yet. They had to wrap up the shows many plotlines while also giving its huge cast of main and supporting characters time to shine… all in just over an hour. This would be near impossible for most shows… but nothing can stop the crew of DuckTales.

The DuckTales finale had a lot to wrap up. One of the biggest mysteries introduced in season 3 had to do with Webby. Beakley was keeping secrets about her but we weren’t sure what. The finale gave us answers but not in the way we expected.
Early on we’re introduced to what we’re told are Webby’s sisters, clones of her. As Webby begins to investigate she learns more and more, confident she’ll get some clue to her past. She gets that and a whole lot more. The audience and Webby both learn she’s not actually Beakley’s granddaughter, she never had real parents. She was created by F.O.W.L. solely to obtain a magical artifact that would prevent Scrooge from ever having adventures again. In order to do that she needed to be a descendent of Scrooge…...

Reboots aren’t just for grown-ups anymore.
The proliferation of streaming platforms reliant on free-flowing programming pipelines has led to the development of new versions of shows such as “Battlestar Galactica” and “True Blood” that last aired when Barack Obama was president. That same industry-shaking shift away from linear and toward streaming, coupled with the emergence of nostalgia and geekdom as dominating cultural forces, has turned kids TV — already accustomed to regularly reimagining corporate-controlled IP — into a hotbed of reboots.
“We’re in an interesting time right now, where, probably more so than ever before, adults who grew up with certain properties are able to still be a part of those fandoms and talk about them and participate in those fandoms very actively,” says Noelle Stevenson, creator of the DreamWorks Animation-produced “She-Ra and the Princesses of Power” for Netflix. “In the past, it was maybe a little bit more of a niche thing.

DuckTales has been cancelled after three seasons. It’s a major gut punch to any fan of the astounding reboot of the classic 80’s series. Even three seasons in it felt like the show was only beginning to rev up. It was slowly building a new version of the Disney Afternoon universe, more and more characters were being added to the cast, and the characters we loved so much were getting fleshed out in fascinating ways.
Thankfully there’s a small silver lining. The show isn’t quite over yet. There are still a few episodes left to air and hopefully they’ll provide some closure to DuckTales’ many long running story arcs.
But how many episodes are there and when will they air? Well the statement from Disney about DuckTales’ cancellation does hold some clues.

Fans of Disney’s Darkwing Duck might be headed for a Crisis on Infinite Darkwings. A reboot of the beloved ’90s animated series is in the early stages of development for Disney Plus, with Alex McAtee of Seth Rogen’s Point Grey Pictures overseeing the project (via Variety.)
But wait, didn’t they already reboot Darkwing Duck recently? In the modern series of DuckTales, the character of Darkwing was slowly introduced over the shows three seasons before recently getting his own special episode, ‘Let’s Get Dangerous!’ This episode introduced a rebooted version of original Darkwing Duck character Gosalyn Mallard and set the stage for more adventures featuring the two alongside DuckTales main cast member Launchpad.
So is this new reboot in development a spinoff of what we’ve already seen in the new DuckTales, or is it a whole new version of Darkwing Duck? At present we aren’t sure.

This DuckTales article contains spoilers for season 3 episode 12.
While watching DuckTales I sometimes think about what writing the show is like. While I know there’s considerable time spent on writing the complex characters, their arcs, the world, and just making a great story? I have no doubt there’s also got to be at least an hour long discussion every week of “okay but what deep cut Disney reference can we do in this episode?”
Throughout the 2017 DuckTales there’s been references big and small to Disney’s past. In the recent Darkwing Duck episode of DuckTales, “Let’s Get Dangerous” we got a Bonkers cameo! However, so far all the references have at least been to things fans were more or less aware of. This reference though was the deepest of deep cuts. This DuckTales article contains spoilers for the recent Darkwing Duck special.
The people behind the new DuckTales are massive fans of Darkwing Dark. You can’t deny it after the recent big “crossover” episode aired on Disney, which finally brought Darkwing and his extended cast fully into the story of DuckTales. It featured a deeply compelling story about Darkwing, Gosalyn, and Launchpad, furthered DuckTales‘ current story arc, And tons of references, big and small, to Darkwing and the Disney Afternoon.
Putting together an episode like that is not easy so we had to sit down with DuckTales Co-Executive Producer Frank Angones and Executive Producer Matt Youngberg to discuss the genesis of the episode, how they adapted Darkwing’s tone to DuckTales, and what this all means for the future of the “Disney Afternoon Universe.”
Den of Geek: Would you say that all of the new DuckTales has been leading to this Darkwing Duck episode?...

Darkwing Duck deserves a spinoff. After several appearances in the new DuckTales series, the show has already done an immense amount of work to prove that the time for Darkwing Duck to return is now. We’ll be seeing even more evidence of that in an upcoming two-part DuckTales episode that features Darkwing Duck and the first appearance of Gosalyn in the new DuckTales continuity.
With so many appearances and big special about to air, could this be the sign that there’s trouble and Darkwing Duck needs to be called in for his own spinoff? We spoke with DuckTales Executive Producer Matt Youngberg and Co-Executive Producer Frank Angones and both were evasive in their answers. However they did say that the ultimate goal of every new (or old) character appearing in DuckTales is thinking about what more could be done with them. As Angones puts it, “we treat every...

DuckTales is a very funny adventure series. Following the exploits of Scrooge McDuck’s extended family, the show has no end of wacky hijinks, whip smart one-liners, and truly some of the funniest premises on TV. However, when the show wants to get serious, it gets heartwrenchingly real. While much of the cast have faced some less comedic problems, the character of Lena has gotten the best and most true to life plot of them all. One that centers on abuse and trauma.
Lena was introduced early in the first season as the niece of infamous Duck villain Magica De Spell. Forming a close friendship with Webby, Lena was secretly working to infiltrate Scrooge’s family in order to get his #1 Dime and use it to free Magica. Over the course of the first two seasons Lena grew closer to Webby, betrayed Magica, found out she was a sentient shadow,...

The pursuit of wealth isn’t quite so glamorous anymore. The materialistic ’80s are out. Where millionaires were once an ideal to strive for they’re now under far more scrutiny in our society. So where does that leave the richest duck in the world, Scrooge McDuck, from DuckTales?
Scrooge McDuck was originally created by Carl Barks in 1947 for comics and later brought to even wider notice in the 1980s DuckTales animated series. Since those times values have shifted and the new DuckTales series has changed with it. It even touches on the idea that wealth corrupts. Glomgold, one of the main villains in Scrooge’s rouges gallery, was created because Scrooge refused to pay him a fair wage. It’s socioeconomic commentary you wouldn...

If there’s one word that sums up the overarching theme of the upcoming DuckTales season 3, it’s legacy. That comes from DuckTales co-executive producer Frank Angones who half jokingly says that it’s taken them two years, “to get to where the original DuckTales started, which is family going on big globe-trotting adventures.”
For fans of the original ’80s cartoon that may sound strange but family is hugely important to the new DuckTales, so much so that the team behind the series has taken their time to carefully develop the huge extended Duck family. At the start it was just Scrooge going on adventures by himself but over the first two seasons the cast slowly but delightfully bonded together. There have even been some additions to the extended family, including Magica De Spell’s niece Lena, the triplets mom Della, and Fenton Crackshell-Cabrera aka Gizmoduck!

Lin-Manuel Miranda's TV dreams are all coming true. The Tony winner behind Hamilton makes his DuckTales debut as Fenton Crackshell-Cabrera, aka superhero Gizmoduck, on Friday, May 11. Miranda is a big fan of the Disney Channel series. In the exclusive video above, Miranda takes viewers behind the scenes of the series. Executive producer Matt Youngberg and story editor Francisco Angones reimagined the character to have Latin roots. Miranda's character, a scientist, is in over his head at times, but always earnest, Miranda said. "His heart is in the right place, he sometimes tries a little too hard," Miranda said. "He's sort of a little too much, he's like a little extra, which I have also...

Lin-Manuel Miranda is finally going to be in the room where it happens, “it” being the Emmy-nominated DuckTales. The Hamilton creator will make his debut as Gizmoduck (aka Fenton Crackshell-Cabrera) in a new DuckTales episode set for Friday, May 11.
“I’m really excited that a new generation of kids will be growing up with DuckTales,” Miranda said. “As a huge fan of the original series, I love that I can share this new version with my sons.”
The Miranda-voiced Fenton, says the channel, is “Duckburg’s preeminent hero who has Latin roots,” a “brilliant young scientist” that marks a “reimagining” of the character by executive producer Matt Youngberg and co-producer and story editor Francisco Angones.
In Miranda’s debut episode, titled “Beware the B.U.D.D.Y. System!,” Fenton is recruited by Launchpad (voiced by Beck Bennett), who is feeling menaced by tech genius Mark Beaks’ newest invention. See the trailer above.

As you know, Disney is in production on a new DuckTales animated series that is set to debut this summer. It's just been revealed that Gizmoduck will be coming to the series and that Hamilton star Lin-Manuel Miranda will be providing the voice!
Miranda has found a home at Disney and has worked on films for them such as Moana, Mary Poppins Returns, the live action Little Mermaid film, and I'm sure he has several other projects in development at the studio. Now he'll be providing the voice of a classic fan-favorite character.
Gizmoduck, also known as Fenton Crackshell-Cabrera, is described as an "exceptionally bright intern working with Scrooge McDuck’s in-house mad scientist, Gyro Gearloose." The art above shows the new character design and as you can see it's pretty faithful to the original.
According to D23, Lin-Manuel is a lifelong DuckTales fan, and this is what co-producer and...

Disney released the below sneak peek of the new Disney Xd version of DuckTales and it will take you on a nostalgic ride that only Launchpad McQuack can deliver. And Disney isn't stopping at a sneak peek: DuckTales has also been renewed for a second season, yes ahead of the show's summer premiere. Matt Youngberg of Ben 10: Omniverse is executive producer with Wander Over Yonder veteran Francisco Angones as story editor and co-producer, Gravity Falls veteran Sean Jimenez as art director. "Fans around the world are eager and we're looking forward to introducing viewers to the all-new DuckTales," Marc Buhaj,...

It's been nine months since we first saw our first image of Disney Xd reboot of DuckTales and a couple since we last got a promo poster. Today, we have a new promo image that's 76 megapixels and a stupidly short teaser. I like the art style, and Matt Youngberg — who is a Ben 10 alumnus — as executive producer gives me a lot of faith in the project. Announced today, DuckTales will premier on Disney Xd in the summer of 2017 and have 21 half-hour episodes and two one hour specials. My guess is those specials will be for Halloween and Christmas. I can't wait to see more!
