Hell’s Kitchen host Gordon Ramsay emphasizes the importance of chefs picking their brigade for the final challenge that determines the winner of the season. There’s pressure for them to get the first pick, but how much does it really matter? Turns out, it statistically doesn’t really make much of a difference whether Hell’s Kitchen chef contestants pick first or second for the final brigade.

Heading into Monday’s two-hour finale of “Hell’s Kitchen” Season 20, only the Top 3 chef-testants remained in the running to win: Trenton Garvey, Megan Gill and Kiya Willhelm. After weeks of fiery battles, “Hell’s Kitchen” Season 20 has come to an end and one competitor has come out on top, winning the Fox cooking competition and the Head Chef position at Gordon Ramsay Steak at Paris Las Vegas. Congrats to… Trenton Garvey!
During the two-hour season finale, Chef Ramsay planned an emotional reunion for the three remaining chefs — Kiya Willhelm, Megan Gill and Trenton — before they were tasked with cooking a five-course dinner service scored by celebrity judges.
Megan and Trenton were chosen as the final two chefs, and in the second hour of the finale, they picked their brigades from a pool of their former competitors and competed in their final dinner service, after which the last chef standing was chosen. When all was said and done, it was Trenton who won “Hell’s Kitchen” Season 20.

“Hell’s Kitchen: Young Guns” chef-testants Samuel Garman and Antonio Ruiz had an agreement going into their final judgment before Gordon Ramsay: neither would say a bad word about the other, and they’d let their track records be the sole determining factor of who went home. Sounds good on paper, right? When Gordon asked Sam who was the weakest link on the Red Team, Sam honored his buddy by refusing to answer. But that only angered the renowned British chef more and more. He then turned to Antonio and asked the same question, and Antonio fired back a one-word death shot: “Sam.”
Chef Ramsay immediately took Sam’s jacket, making this 23-year-old executive chef from Fleetwood, Pennsylvania the 11th person eliminated from Season 20.

One of the early front-runners to win “Hell’s Kitchen: Young Guns,” 22-year-old Josie Clemens, was just eliminated from the competition. Host Gordon Ramsay took her jacket in the August 16 episode after being nominated by the Red Team’s temporary leader, Kiya Willhelm. Kiya was adamant that the private chef from Macomb, Michigan was the worst chef on her team, so she didn’t bother discussing it with her other cohorts. The third time on the elimination block was unfortunately not the charm for Victoria Sonora during the August 9 episode of “Hell’s Kitchen: Young Guns.” This junior sous-chef from Longmont, Colorado (and lover of all things root vegetables) simply wasn’t “ready” to be Gordon Ramsay‘s newest protege, something she now admits she was aware of at the time of filming. “I knew it and he knew it — I wasn’t ready then, but Damn that was incredible,” Victoria tweeted after her elimination. “Low key just happy to have made it past day one.”

If you’re going through “Hell’s Kitchen” withdrawals, you’re not alone. For the first time on this season of “Hell’s Kitchen,” someone was eliminated during the middle of dinner service. Kevin Argueta repeatedly messed up on cooking lobster during the July 12 episode, which got him reprimanded by host Gordon Ramsay. When Kevin later turned in overcooked lamb, the entire Blue Team was forced to have an impromptu meeting in the storage room. “I just have to get my head out of my ass,” the 21-year-old Los Angeles native said exasperatingly when Gordon asked him what was wrong.

Payton Cooper did the unthinkable during the July 5 episode of “Hell’s Kitchen” when he cooked a bland dish for Megan Ramsay, daughter of host Gordon Ramsay, on her 21st birthday. Megan had taste-tested the Thai noodles with soy peanut sauce earlier in the episode and loved it, which is why she was confused when she was handed a watered-down version during dinner service. After being nominated for elimination (along with Josie Clemens and Sam Garman), Payton fought for his life in front of Gordon, but things didn’t go according to plan.
“Chef, I know that I’ve made some mistakes and I feel absolutely s***** about it, especially for your daughter,” the 21-year-old sous-chef from Kentucky apologized. “I’m sorry I sent her a flavorless dish tonight. But I feel like I’m growing stronger and stronger every day and I know I can do better, Chef. I really do.

The sixth episode of “Hell’s Kitchen” was a family affair, as host Gordon Ramsay invited his daughter Megan Ramsay to Sin City to celebrate her 21st birthday party. That meant the 13 remaining players on the Red Team and the Blue Team endured double scrutiny during the challenge and dinner service, with one group crumbling under the pressure and delivering its biggest disappointment to date. A lot is at stake this year for the ultimate winner, as they’ll claim a head chef position at Gordon’s steakhouse at the Paris Hotel in Las Vegas.

“Morgana might be baby-faced, but tonight she behaved like a baby when her fish station struggled,” Gordon Ramsay claimed at the end of the fifth episode of “Hell’s Kitchen” Season 20. The host ended up taking Morgana Vesey‘s jacket after she repeatedly brought him raw salmon during dinner service. That, when combined with her lack of a strong voice, sealed her fate. He explained further, “The protege I’m looking for needs to be confident and outspoken. Morgana was neither.”

“I’m definitely pissed off right now,” sighed Jayaun Smith after being eliminated in the third episode of “Hell’s Kitchen: Young Guns.” Chef Gordon Ramsay took his jacket after his poor showing at the garnish station, in which he failed to communicate and seemed to have a problem remembering what sides were supposed to go with what proteins. “At least I was honest about my mistakes,” he added, referring to the fact that Alex Lenik blamed other people for his bad performance on the chicken station.

After last week’s double elimination, only 16 Young Guns were still in the running to win the 20th season of “Hell’s Kitchen.” The ultimate prize this year? A head chef position at Gordon Ramsay‘s steakhouse at the Paris Hotel in Las Vegas. Since no one was eliminated during last week’s “Hell’s Kitchen” premiere, that meant at the start of Monday’s second episode all 18 contestants were still in the running to win the head chef position at Gordon Ramsay‘s steakhouse at the Paris Hotel in Las Vegas. And it was time for a double elimination. As usual, the nine girls competed in the red kitchen (with Season 10 winner Christina Wilson as their sous-chef) and the nine boys took shelter in the blue kitchen (with Season 7 fan-fave Jason “Jay” Santos as their mentor). So whose jackets did Chef Ramsay end up snatching in this special 300th episode?

For its landmark 20th season, “Hell’s Kitchen” is traveling back to Las Vegas, but this time around there’s an even bigger twist. All of the contestants are aspiring, up-and-coming chefs who are younger than age 24, which explains why host Gordon Ramsay affectionately calls them “Young Guns.” These 18 all-new chef-testants competed in Sin City prior to the Covid-19 pandemic, with Christina Wilson and Jason “Jay” Santos returning as sous-chefs for the Red Team and Blue Team, respectively. At stake for the winner? A head chef position at Ramsay’s steakhouse at the Paris Hotel in Las Vegas. So how’d it all play out in Monday’s season 20 premiere?
