Happy anniversary to the Writers Guild of America strike! On May 2, 2023, Hollywood writers officially put their pencils down in an effort to bring compensation closer in line with the revenues generated by their movies and TV shows. A steadfast refusal by studios to engage with writers on some issues led the strike to be prolonged, and eventually, the Screen Actors Guild joined the work stoppage as well.
Fast forward to 2024, and many studios are still trying to get their production schedules back together. Fortunately, it looks to be smooth sailing for getting TV productions on track in 2024, and The Streamable has compiled its traditional list of new titles coming to TV and streaming every day this week to help you keep track of what’s coming back when.

Celebrity Wheel of Fortune Season 4 comes to a close on Monday, May 13, and spinning the wheel this week are Neil deGrasse Tyson, Veep‘s Tony Hale, and A Black Lady Sketch Show‘s Robin Thede. TV Insider has an exclusive look into their face-off that shows the stars trying to solve a puzzle about fame. Fitting! The Bonus Round category is “People,” and the players start out with little help from the letters they call in the clip above. Thede, Hale, and Tyson each guess a letter that only has one space on the board, and Thede cracks up the audience when she sarcastically says “cool” in response to the excess of blank spaces. Hale gives a throwaway guess with “mandarine oranges,” and Tyson has no ideas for what the puzzle could read. When it’s Thede’s turn again, she guesses an “a,” of which there are two in the puzzle.

Audiences love a bit of history. Kings, Queens, dates, battles, all of that stuff. And a big part of the fun in watching a historical drama is knowing that you are watching a version of events that have actually happened. Yes, there might not be any material evidence that J. Robert Oppenheimer’s wife was imagining him having sex with his mistress during his private security hearing, but enough of the other details are right that we don’t know for certain she didn’t.
We like learning about the small personal dramas behind the big events, and seeing how people lived and loved and worked in an age before laptops and phones. Audiences want to connect with something real. And if those historical dramas don’t get all of the details exactly right, then that’s fine too! Some people get annoyed at Neil DeGrasse Tyson-style pedantry, but...

Neil deGrasse Tyson and Stephen Colbert spent the majority of Tyson’s appearance on The Late Show debating worms — Sandworms to be exact.
The astrophysicist and the self-proclaimed Dune superfan began their conversation with Colbert recounting that he and Tyson were both at the Dune: Part Two premiere in New York City last month and watched the screening together.
“I would say it’s perfect. What do you think, Neil? There are no errors. Go on, Neil,” the late night host began, to which the scientist responded, “I have some issues.”
Tyson explained that the film takes place in the sand dunes on the planet of Arrakis. The dunes are home to massive, very hungry sandworms that will appear wherever a thumper — a device that sends repeated vibrations through the sand — is placed.
“Somebody didn’t do the research on that,” he stated. When Colbert asked if that’s because...

Amber Rose recently interviewed astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson on her podcast and triggered a hilarious response from the scientist with a pseudoscience question. Rose chose to ask one astrology question to Tyson of all people, who literally lost it at the mention of it. While the scientific community backed Tyson in his funny outburst, the astrology supporters in the comments were pretty disappointed in him.
Neil deGrasse Tyson in a conversation with Bill Moyers on the latter’s show
Amber Rose asked Tyson whether he believed in concepts like Mercury in retrograde, which the astrologers believe influences the moods of people. Tyson was quick to dismiss it, even drawing an analogy that would perfectly explain the pseudoscience behind it.

Jennifer Lopez recently made a big comeback in her career with the release of This Is Me… Now (a follow-up to her 2002 album This Is Me… Then), and a movie of the same title.
Though the film is loosely based on J.Lo’s experiences in multiple romantic relationships, it is a fictionalized narrative (presenting a semi-autobiographical story).

It has been ten years since Jennifer Lopez released her last album, A.K.A., in 2014. Now, the singer is back with her ninth studio album titled, This Is Me…Now. She will also be going on a concert tour to promote the album. If the album and the tour were not enough for her fans, Jennifer Lopez is also starring in an actual movie, This Is Me…Now: A Love Story, which will be based on her recent album.

Jennifer Lopez has been making a lot of headlines recently as she released her ninth studio album, This is Me…Now earlier this month. Her studio album is only the first part of a three-part project and the second part is a musical film titled This Is Me…Now: A Love Story which covers a fictionalized version of J.Lo and Ben Affleck’s love story.

Jennifer Lopez’s This Is Me…Now: A Love Story has a lot of cameos
This is Me…Now is Jennifer Lopez‘s ninth studio album and is also a sequel to the singer’s 3rd album, This is Me…Then. However, Jennifer Lopez has pulled out all stops considering this is her first album in the last 10 years, and made it into a three-part project. The first part is the musical album that is allegedly based on and influenced by J.

When Jennifer Lopez started working on This Is Me… Now, she knew a lot of people wouldn’t get the full concept at first. Yes, she was planning an album that would be a direct sequel to her 2002 LP This Is Me… Then, an album she wrote when she was first falling in love with Ben Affleck, who she reconnected with and married almost exactly 20 years later. But she also wanted to pair the music with an out-of-the-box film that would capture the romantic journey she’d been on over the last two decades.

Jennifer Lopez has spent the better part of her career navigating the two halves of her public persona: Bronx-born girl next door “Jenny from the block” and Hollywood power player “J.Lo.” Though much of the tension between the two has been amplified by media coverage that spans calculated marketing campaigns and inescapable paparazzi scrutiny, Lopez has frequently seemed to capitulate to whichever of the two serves her best at the time.
“This is Me…Now: A Love Story” is, on its face, the visual component of her self-funded ninth studio album, and at a reported $20 million price tag it’s easy to see it first and foremost as an advertisement. But as not only the subject but star, co-writer and executive producer of an interlinked series of music videos, Lopez showcases above all else how tough it is to express oneself personally after more than 30 years in the public eye,...

[Editor’s note: This following article spoils the ending of “This Is Me…Now: A Love Story.” We promise you, this doesn’t matter.]
For Ben Affleck fans who thought his small role as Phil Knight in “Air” just needed to be a little Bigger, Prime Video has a film for you.
And yet, “film” isn’t exactly the right word. The 65-minute “narrative-driven cinematic odyssey” (press release’s words) for Jennifer Lopez’s wannabe-“Lemonade,” “This Is Me…Now: A Love Story,” follows her search for love, set alongside music videos for several songs off her new album of the same name (also out today!). It’s a bombastic, simplistic misfire.
Opening with a Puerto Rican myth about roses and hummingbirds, viewers are treated to J.Lo working in a steampunk love factory (complete with a giant mechanical heart about to explode!) and a fictionalized-but-clearly-autobiographical tale about realizing she’s a love addict. She’s searching for love in several doomed marriages, before learning the person she really needs to love is…herself.

In the summer of 2022, Netflix released “Halftime,” a glossy, shiny, and intermittently revelatory documentary focused on global icon Jennifer Lopez. That offering found unexpected (if highly unrelatable) pathos in the star’s distress over not being nominated for an Oscar for her (quite good) turn in “Hustlers.” Just twenty months later, and yet another streamer is now releasing its own glossy, shiny, and intermittently revelatory film project focused on global icon Jennifer Lopez. The pathos, though? That’s mostly missing, but certainly not for lack of trying.
The project comes from the mind of Lopez herself, who also co-financed the effort. It’s clunkily titled (and punctuated) as “This Is Me…Now: A Love Story,” linking it inextricably with Lopez’s latest studio album, which just so happens to be dropping the same day as its “cinematic” component. Synergy!

On her 2002 album This is Me…Then, Jennifer Lopez included a song addressing Ben Affleck. “Dear Ben” is a confession and a love letter to Affleck, whom the singer met and started dating during the shooting of the film Gigli. The album was released two weeks after the pair’s engagement. The song ends with a now melancholic coda: “There’s no way I’d leave you / It’s just not a reality / Sometimes I feel like I’m living in a fantasy.” A year later, after Lopez and Affleck postponed their wedding, the pair broke up.
More than 20 years later, Lopez’s life looks different. She’s even more established in her career, she’s a mother of two teenagers and she remarried the love of her life. Three years ago, Lopez and Affleck rekindled their relationship, becoming proof of the adage “right person, wrong time.” To commemorate this...

The excitement among Jennifer Lopez’s fans on the release of This Is Me…Now: A Love Story, which showcases the meaning of love and self-love from the diva’s perspective, is quite high. Adding her touch of elegance, the actress has an interesting take on how this film was made. She created an album by the same name but did not want to take the conventional route for the album launch. Taking help from her dear friend, Dave Meyer (director), she visualised her perception and idea of love and started writing a script, which then resulted in – This is Me…Now: A Love Story premiering on February 16 on Prime Video.

Jennifer Lopez took on an enormous challenge with This is Me … Now: A Love Story, the “narrative driven, cinematic original” film that hits Prime Video this week. It wasn’t the singing, acting or intricate choreography featured in the 65-minute musical, as the multihyphenate can do all of that in her sleep. The real hurdle arose when the money disappeared and Lopez opted to open her wallet to pay for the whole thing.
“Everybody thought I was crazy when I said I would do it. We did have financing, and then that fell out. They pulled out at the last minute, and then it was that moment where you go, ‘Ok, do we just make a video or do we go ahead and do this thing?'” explained the 54-year-old entertainer during an interview at the Four Seasons Los Angeles in Beverly Hills while sitting alongside her Nuyorican Prods. producing partner Elaine Goldsmith-Thomas.

While The Bear has made “Yes, chef!” one of current TV’s best catchphrases, one prominent chef is saying, “No!” As it turns out, world-renowned chef and restaurateur Jamie Oliver has had trouble finishing the Emmy-nominated show because of the actors’ techniques.
Appearing on The Graham Norton Show (via The Independent), Jamie Oliver said he tried watching The Bear – about a chef taking over the family sandwich shop in Chicago – but gave up once he saw how poorly its stars, presumably including Jeremy Allen White, use a knife. “I’ve got to get back into The Bear because I watched the first two [episodes] – and I know it’s brilliant, everyone keeps telling me how brilliant it is – but I watched the first two and I’m like, ‘He can’t chop.’..They just jump cut it and cut around it.” But it’s not just chopping parsley that gets Oliver all worked up.

Kelly Clarkson was seen on a recent episode of The Kelly Clarkson Show wearing a gold cross ring on her wedding finger, only three years after her split from ex-husband Brandon Blackstock.
The ring was not the only thing fans noticed. For the show, Clarkson wore a low-cut black dress and high heels that showed off her recent weight loss.
Clarkson confronted the topic of weight during her interview with Jenna Bush Hager and Barbara Bush. They were promoting their newest co-authored book, Love Comes First.
They were looking back at old photos when a picture of the sisters in blue dresses came up. They talked about how many dresses were “drop-waist” when they were younger. Clarkson said those dresses were “not good for girls with curves.”
Bush Hager asked, “Barbara, in my life, was I chubby?”
Her sister then responded, saying that there was “a stage” in her life where she was.

Pop star Britney Spears has been back in the public eye ever since the abuse she's suffered from both her management team and her family came to light, resulting in the termination of her conservatorship in 2021 after 14 years. Her new memoir, "The Woman in Me," (published this past October by Simon & Schuster) has put the spotlight on her once again; the New York Times bestseller list doesn't lie.
While "Saturday Night Live" hasn't had Spears on as a guest host yet, the latest episode, did have a sketch highlighting the book. "The Woman in Me: Auditions" features Britney revealing some interesting details about how the memoir's audiobook was produced. As the sketch notes, the audiobook of "The Woman in Me" was ultimately read by Michelle Williams. However, Fineman's Britney reveals that plenty of other actors auditioned for the honor of reading her words.

The news that multiple Oscar nominee Michelle Williams was the reader for the audiobook of Britney Spears’ memoir “The Woman in Me” was too delightful for “Saturday Night Live” to pass up. In a pre-taped sketch for the Nov. 11 episode hosted by Timothée Chalamet, Chloe Fineman as Spears introduced a cavalcade of celebrities auditioning to be the reader of Britney’s book.
Fineman was everywhere in the sketch: She also played idiosyncratic actress and model Julia Fox, and a manic, borderline illiterate version of Chalamet, while the actor himself played Martin Scorsese (who recently directed Chalamet in a perfume commercial for Blue de Chanel).
Other highlights included Sarah Sherman as comedian John Mulaney, referencing his most recent stand-up special, “Baby J,” about his drug addiction (but in a funny way); Molly Kearney as actor Kevin James, but instead of reading from the memoir, Kearney just recreates the ubiquitous meme of...

When I heard Rob Reiner was planning to direct a documentary on a true comic icon and genius named Albert Brooks, I thought “Now this will be good!” Reiner is not only a smart and talented filmmaker in his own right, but also a longtime friend of Brooks, with whom he went to high school and even co-starred with him in drama department productions. I am happy to report this HBO Original documentary, Albert Brooks: Defending My Life, premiering Saturday night and then streaming on Max, not only more than met my high expectations but exceeded them.
Set in a plush dark red restaurant booth, the film is anchored simply by a conversation between Reiner and Brooks. The visual is almost identical to the opening scene of Brooks’ 1981 Modern Romance, where he and his girlfriend are breaking up,...

Kelly Clarkson was shocked in the Thursday episode of her eponymous talk show to find out that famed astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson once moonlighted as a professional dancer — and considered becoming a male stripper to make some extra cash while studying at Harvard.
“I was cut and flex — I could do a full split,” he told a hysterical Clarkson.
As deGrasse Tyson explained, “I was still studying astrophysics and I had fellow dancers who were making extra money because I needed money because we weren’t paid much. And one of them said, ‘Why don’t you come down with us?’ Because some of them danced at a strip club, a guy’s strip club.”
“So I went, and I was cut and flex — I could do a full split. So I was, but I went to just investigate, I wanted data first,” the “Kelly Clarkson Show” guest explained of his consideration.

The Late Show with Stephen Colbert is back at the top.
The CBS show took the ratings crown during late-night’s return last week, despite tough competition at the start of last week from Jimmy Kimmel Live!
It comfortably beat Kimmel’s show and The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon over the course of Monday through Thursday in the Live+3 Day ratings, per Nielsen.
However, the most surprising aspect of its ratings were perhaps the delayed viewing lift, scoring its highest three-day lift in over five years.
The Late Show averaged 2.79M viewers across the week in L+3, beating Jimmy Kimmel Live!, which averaged 1.78M by over a million viewers, and The Tonight Show, which averaged 1.42M. The Late Show and Jimmy Kimmel Live! air Monday through Thursday, while Fallon has a show on Friday nights (those full L+3 numbers are not in yet).

In Doctor Who, the phrase “wibbly wobbly timey wimey stuff” has become synonymous with both the nature of time itself — short version: time is a nonlinear mess — and how woefully inadequate our layperson’s vocabulary is when it comes to blathering about time.
Whether you generally understand the intricacies of time and time travel but can’t formally express them, or your head immediately starts to explode the second somebody mentions killing Baby Hitler, it’s simpler to attribute temporal circumstances to “wibbly wobbly timey wimey stuff” than pretend you’re Neil deGrasse Tyson.
The handiness of the phrase came to mind more than a few times while I watched the second season of Disney+’s Loki, on which the creative team has absolutely succeeded in using Marvel’s money to make a wildly expensive season of Doctor Who featuring Tom Hiddleston as the Doctor. Stephen Colbert kicked off his first new show since May by celebrating the end of the writers’ strike and the new contract that guild secured — as well as the fact that his writers are “back safely in their job holes, doing what they do best: Making my prompter word screen full of good and haha.”
Colbert of course took “The Late Show” on hiatus after the Writers Guild of America declared a strike on May 2, and judging by the cold open, he was not only thrilled to be back, he also doesn’t hold writers responsible for the length of the strike.

Colbert of course took “The Late Show” on hiatus after the Writers Guild of America declared a strike on May 2, and judging by the cold open, he was not only thrilled to be back, he also doesn’t hold writers responsible for the length of the strike.

Stephen Colbert returned to the Ed Sullivan Theater to a standing ovation.
The Late Show host is kicking off his first show back in five months with Neil deGrasse Tyson as his first guests. It also marked Colbert’s first show since it was revealed that he’d signed a new contract to remain as host of the show until 2026.
“It feels good to be back, it feels good to be back with all of you in the Ed Sullivan Theater because after the first few months of the strike, Evie refused to keep chanting my name,” he joked.
Obviously, he talked about the strike.
“Now the writers strike is over, with a new contract that includes protections against A.I., cost of living increases, better pay and better pay for streaming. Plus, thanks the picket lines, my writers got fresh air and sunshine and they do not care for that.

Late-night talk shows are returning after a five-month absence brought on by the Hollywood writers strike, while actors will begin talks that could end their own long work walk-off.
CBS’s “The Late Show With Stephen Colbert”, ABC’s “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” and NBC’s “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” were the first shows to leave the air when the writers strike began on May 2, and now will be among the first to return on Monday night.
Comedian John Oliver got his first take on the strike out, exuberantly returning Sunday night to his “Last Week Tonight” show on HBO and delivering full-throated support for the strike.
Oliver cheerily delivered a recap of stories from the last five months before turnings serious, calling the strike “an immensely difficult time” for all those in the industry.

Late-night is back, and Late Night host Seth Meyers is teasing a bit of the first post-strike script. In an Instagram post Monday, Meyers gives us a peek of the script in a photo, which confirms his first target is — who else? — Donald Trump.
“Welcome back, everyone!,” the script in the photo reads. “I’m not sure what you’ve been up to these past five months, but I’ve used the time to reflect and have come to the conclusion that yes, I’ve been too hard on the guy. Who among us isn’t under multiple indictments?”
In his Instagram caption, Meyers gives a big hint about tonight’s show, which will be without guests on the first night back.

The Writers Guild of America went on strike on May 2, and work on all television and film projects was stopped immediately by guild members. Production was able to continue on some projects that already had completed scripts, but since the nature of late-night talk shows requires timely jokes, they have all been off the air for exactly five months.
But, thanks to last week’s deal between the WGA and the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP), all of the late-night shows will return to the air on Monday, Oct. 2 with brand new episodes. As The Streamable noted last week, because these types of shows are generally day-to-day operations, they are able to get back to airing new episodes almost immediately.
That being said, the shows will still have to contend with the fact that they will not be able to have actors on as guests in order...
