One “Star Wars” fan may need a rewatch of the prequel films because in a bizarre interaction, the Twitter user dubbed Anakin Skywalker as “space Jesus.” Sounds like “someone” may have completely missed the plot point where the character crosses over to the dark side and transforms into Darth Vader. Ya know, the supremely bad guy and killer of who-the-hell-knows how many people?
“Sw is a Christian story, Anakin is space Jesus. Thus why it got wide appeal,” the tweet that opened the flood gates read.
The interaction took place underneath a promo celebrating Pride Month, which triggered an anti-gay response from someone who admonished the “Star Wars” account for making the franchise “political.” The official Twitter account fired back by saying that “queer characters existing isn’t political” and pointed to the fact that “Wars” was in the title of the franchise. Afterward, a user chimed in about the Jesus comment.

Rudy Giuliani, the man who stumbled his way through any and every hare-brained legal and extra-legal avenue to overturn a free and fair presidential election at the behest of Donald Trump, has embarrassed himself yet again — this time, in costume.
The disgraced New York City mayor appeared on The Masked Singer last night, dressing up as some sort of colorful bird who popped out of a jack-in-the-box to serenade the show’s panel of judges. Perhaps even more embarrassing than Giuliani’s decision to appear on the show is the...

“The View” co-host Meghan McCain has lashed out at Dr. Anthony Fauci and the Biden Administration’s vaccination rollout.
“I’m over Dr. Fauci,” a frustrated McCain said on Monday’s show. “I think we need to have more people giving more opinions and honestly quite frankly, I think the Biden administration should remove him and put someone in place that does understand science or can talk like these other countries about how we can be more like these other places that are doing this successfully.”
McCain’s comments came during a frank discussion between the co-hosts centering on Covid-19 and the fact that the U.S. is reaching a record breaking number of half a million deaths since the virus began ravaging the country almost a year ago.
While she acknowledged the fact that no one should be downplaying the grief and tragedy that everyone has experienced, she also...

Lila Byock, who served as a writer and producer on Damon Lindelof’s Emmy-winning “Watchmen” limited series, has a question for Ted Cruz: “What the fuck are you talking about?” Byock was one of many social media users ripping Cruz after the senator evoked “Watchmen” and “Avengers: Endgame” to criticize the left for thinking “people are a disease.” Cruz made the argument on the most recent episode of his “The Verdict” podcast, a video excerpt from which circulated Twitter and earned over one million views in less than 24 hours.
“You talked about inevitable,” Cruz tells co-host Michael Knowles. “I have to say it brought to mind ‘Avengers: Endgame’… what is interesting, and ‘Endgame’ is curious. Have you noticed in many movies how often rabid environmentalists are the bad guys? Whether it’s Thanos, or go to ‘Watchmen’…the view of the left is people are a disease. They buy...

We can all agree that Mariah Carey's record-breaking, best-selling, multi-platinum holiday anthem is perfect as is. But, a new wonderfully chaotic remix feels appropriate this year.
"I created a mashup that no one on the planet asked for," tweeted Media Matters For America Editor at Large Parker Molloy while sharing a song combining Carey's "All I Want For Christmas Is You" and Daft Punk's 1997 hit "Around the World." The resulting mashup is both festive and frantic, like, say, going to the mall on Christmas Eve. Give it a listen below, and then check out the over-the-top trailer for Carey's upcoming Apple TV+ special.

Over the weekend, The New York Times reported that President-elect Joe Biden was expected to name his long-time advisor Antony Blinken as Secretary of State. But while most members of the media were diving into the policy implications of Biden’s potential appointee, a swath of music journalists and fans were quick to point out that Blinken has a band called Ablinken and, yes, his music is available on Spotify.

On Thursday, Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez dissed and dismissed former Sen. Claire McCaskill for comments McCaskill made the night before on MSNBC, in which Caskill appeared to blame key democratic constituencies for electoral setbacks.
Quote-tweeting a video from the appearance where, among other things McCaskill referred to transgender people as “transsexuals,” Aoc noted the irony of McCaskill appearing on the cable news network as an expert on winning elections despite the fact that she was voted out of office in 2018.
“Why do we listen to people who lost elections as if they are experts in winning elections?” Ocasio-Cortez quipped before also noting that McCaskill lost her election in a Democratic wave year, despite following her own advice. “McCaskill tried her approach. She ran as a caravan-hysteria Dem& lost while grassroots organizers won progressive measures in Mo. Her language here shows how she took her base for granted.” Ouch.

It certainly seems that by now, there shouldn’t be a fashion designer on earth unaware of both the proliferation of affordable video editing software, and the internet, but it seems some of the world’s most powerful people keep such designers on retainer. Like Melania Trump, who appeared alongside her Donald on Thursday for the final night of the Republican National Convention wearing a lime green dress almost the exact color of standard green screen.
You can probably guess what happened next. Melania’s dress became the vessel through which hundreds of people on Twitter mocked the night’s proceedings by superimposing video of everything from the weather, to coronavirus statistics, to current events and more.
Here for instance is Melania, walking down the steps in “Total U.S. coronavirus deaths”:
