George Santos was taken into federal custody on Wednesday, with the Justice Department charging him with 13 criminal counts related to various schemes the serial liar has allegedly perpetrated in recent years. The arrest couldn’t be less surprising considering what’s already been revealed about the Long Island congressman’s rich history as a con artist.
“Taken together, the allegations in the indictment charge Santos with relying on repeated dishonesty and deception to ascend to the halls of Congress and enrich himself,” U.S. Attorney Breon Peace said in a statement.

Egyptian-born, Sydney-based comedian Akmal Saleh was so dismayed at the way Western media portrayed the 2011 revolution in his homeland that he shot a documentary on the subject.
Pharaoh Vs The Egyptians will have its Sydney premiere on the opening night of the fourth annual Indie Gems Festival which runs September 12-14 at the Riverside Theatres, Parramatta.
.Most of the information that Australians got about the uprising came from CNN, which Akmal felt was either inaccurate or did not reflect what was happening,. festival organiser John L. Simpson told If.. .He was very passionate about it, went to Egypt and made this extraordinary documentary about what the Egyptian people actually did. It.s a story of a tyrant (President Hosni Mubarak) who has gone too far and the people who got sick of being lied to by their government. Ïn light of what.s happening in Turkey at the moment the story becomes even more important.

Two film-makers from Sydney’s Blacktown have won the DigiSPAA feature film competition winner for 2012, a competition that highlights independent, digital film-makers.
Daniel Okoduwa wrote and produced the film Kemi, which cost $11,000 to producer while Michael Kang directed it.
Okoduwa told Encore: “Kemi is a reaction to the lives of the West African community in Sydney. There is so much drama in Western Sydney. I have made films before, but for this I wanted to take it to the next level. I wanted a multicultural film – Kemi is about the gossiping, the good and the bad and race relations of African people coming to Western Sydney.”
The film-makers have won $15,000 cash, $20,000 worth of post-production, with the film screening on the Movie Extra channel and a return trip to Los Angeles’ American Film Market in 2013.
Okoduwa told Encore: “I’m very excited. Our film is getting into Australian society, and out of the suburbs.

Do you wish you slept better? The Better Sleep Council can help. Since 1979, this non-profit, consumer education arm of the International Sleep Products Association (a non-profit supported by America's mattress industry) has devoted itself to educating the public about how to improve upon what everyone spends one third of their lives doing. The Bsc produces Better Sleep Guides and disseminates research linking sufficient sleep to improved physical performance, work productivity, and more, all in the pursuit of teaching you and me how to have pleasant dreams (and helping quality mattress makers sell their products). Do you wish you knew more about The Better Sleep Council? Suite 7 can help with that. The branded entertainment web series from Cjp Digital Media (the same marketing and production house that created The Temp Life and The Webventures of Justin and Alden and helped Easy to Assemble become one of the most-watched branded web shows ever) is an anthology,...

Illeana Douglas is flying high lately. The comedy web series in which she both created and stars, Easy to Assemble has been picking up steam this winter. It's become not just a popular success—over 5 million views so far—but also a business one, with Madison Avenue trade Advertising Age calling it the "most-watched sponsored web show" in a recent in-depth feature in the magazine. The success hasn't gone unnoticed by the show's main sponsor Ikea, which opted to fund an additional four episodes, extending the season beyond its initial ten. The new episodes, which they are calling a miniseries in its own right dubbed "Flying Solo" premieres Jan. 20 on MyDamnChannel.com, and the trailer was just released online (above). In the episodes, viewers will finally find out who won the season's Co-Worker of the Year contest between Douglas and Justine Bateman. Michael Kang, who had worked with Illeana before on a film,...
