Before the ruling was final, Cher’s lawyer argued in court that an expedited order was urgently needed “for the protection of Mr. Allman.” The...

It's eight o'clock and everyone's here... well, almost everyone. There's Carl Reiner, and there's Gavin MacLeod, and there's Betty White and Allen Ludden. They're all here, in this awkward white screening room up four flights of stairs and down a winding hallway deep in the bowels of Paramount Studios. It's a hybrid crowd – TV people and movie people, performers and people from behind the scenes, chorus girls and choreographers, even a few who are just regular people with...

Lately, addiction treatment entrepreneur Alex Shohet has been a lightning rod in Hollywood’s recovery community for the care he and his therapist wife Bernadine Fried have provided at a series of high-end rehab facilities in the Santa Monica Mountains, the multisite One80Center that shuttered a year ago, as well as Wonderland Epa, which closed Oct. 17. But before all of that, he and Fried partnered in another facility, itself called Wonderland, with another well-known local rehab businessman, Dr. Howard Samuels, who now runs The Hills Treatment Center at the same Hollywood Hills address. It gained fame for its

After word broke on Tuesday that Cory Monteith had died of an overdose of heroin and alcohol, E! News spoke with a drug and alcohol recovery expert in hopes of gaining some insight into the late Glee star's substance abuse struggles. Howard Samuels, founder and CEO of The Hills treatment center and author of Alive Again: Recovering from Alcoholism and Drug Addiction, told E! News he believes it wasn't the pressures of Hollywood that were to blame, but that the 31-year-old's recovery was made even more difficult because he was a successful actor. After her longest sustained stay in a rehab facility, troubled actress Lindsay Lohan is reportedly set to leave the Betty Ford Center on Monday (January 3).
Following months of drama that included a failed drug test and an alleged altercation with a rehab worker, Lohan, 24, will emerge into an uncertain future thanks to her ongoing legal and personal struggles. She's already lost one of the few parts Hollywood has offered her in recent years, the lead role in the Linda Lovelace biopic "Inferno," and given her past, it's unclear what the onetime double threat singer/actress' next move could be.
Lohan's fourth stint in rehab came after she voluntarily entered the Ford Center in late September following an admission that she'd failed a court-mandated drug test.
