There are probably some of you who saw this headline and were like, "Really? This site is actually going to post more fan art for Netflix's Stranger Things?" And trust me: I'm right there with you. I absolutely adore the show, and even I have just about hit my limit of quirky fan art, Funko Pop! vinyls, figures, toys, gifs, and all of the rest of the stuff that's popped up in tribute to The Duffer Brothers' 1980s-inspired small screen summer blockbuster. But when something this good comes across our digital desk, my fatigue disappeared and I figured I had to share these with you.
Artist Francisco Guerrero has created a bunch of jaw-droppingly gorgeous character portraits for the main characters of the series. We posted some of his The Lord of the Rings fan art a while back here and here, but he's really outdone himself with these latest pieces.

Shortly after 9/11, and very definitely as a personal response to that event, I wrote an article about Requiems for Cdnow, where I worked at the time (just a few blocks away from Ground Zero; fortunately our workday started at 10 Am, so I wasn't there yet that day, but in the weeks that followed there were days where, if the wind came from the wrong direction, we would go home early, it made us so sick). In the years since, I have written about music composed in response to that tragedy, such as John Adams's On the Transmigration of Souls. But now I find myself being drawn back to the Requiem idea. Here's a much-expanded take on it.
This roughly chronological list confines itself to works with a sacred basis, though the 20th century yielded secular Requiems, most notably Paul Hindemith's When Lilacs Last in the Door-yard Bloom...

Fan Artist Francisco Guerrero has created a great second part to his Lord of the Rings cartoon character design series. This time around he features his designs for the main Hobbit characters in the story. This is a on-going series that Guerrero is working on, and hopefully he comes out with a few more! Check out the new designs below, and tell us what you think! Click here to see part one of the series.
Here's a note for the image above:
Frodo is the true protagonist of The Lord of the Rings. Driving sometimes up to five story lines, Tolkien made us think that Frodo had died somewhere and that forced us to accelerate our reading in order to return to his chapters. This does not downgrade Aragorn, Gandalf and the others, because you feel a connection between them, so you realize that they are buying time for Frodo to fulfill his mission.

Artist Francisco Guerrero has created this fun little collection of cartoon style Lord of the Rings Character designs. I've includes the artists notes for each character that he's done so far. The artist is currently in the middle of this project, so I'm sure more designs are sure to come. Check out the designs below, and tell us what you think! Big thanks to the artist for sending these our way!
The fallen Hobbit. I liked when reading The Hobbit you realized that something interesting was going on with Gollum. I guess that for the children's book narrative, you do not feel him so threatening, I imagined him as a creature who only wanted to play—in a sick way—, and it was a simple and secondary character. The Lord of the Rings takes him to another level, it is a complex protagonist, vicious, addict and schizophrenic. Andy Serkis was...
