Actor Gurucharan Singh, renowned for his portrayal of Roshan Singh Sodhi in the popular television sitcom ‘Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah’, has allegedly gone missing.
The 50-year-old actor departed from his home in Delhi on April 22, bound for the airport to travel to Mumbai, and has not been heard from since. Furthermore, his phone is currently untraceable.
However, this incident is not the first time a member of the show has faced trouble or attracted media attention.
Numerous actors from the series have encountered adversities in the past.
Actress Monika Bhadoriya, who essayed the role of Bawri in the show, voiced complaints regarding bad behaviour from the makers of the show. She departed from the series, citing inadequate compensation and mental harassment from the show’s producer, Asit Modi.

It’s safe to say that Deadpool & Wolverine is one of the most anticipated films of the year. Even a dual strike from the writers’ and actors’ unions couldn’t slow this new exciting entry down. The comic book frenemy rivalry between Deadpool and Wolverine of the X-Men was only hinted at with actors Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman taking friendly jabs at each other. Now that Disney has acquired Fox and the entire X-Men film franchise, the Merc with a Mouth’s inauguration into the MCU is going to be a crazy universe-bending ride. However, before Disney made its purchase and the Deadpool franchise was planning its third film outside of Marvel Studios, series co-star Karan Soni revealed the original story was a Christmas adventure.

‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ is easily the most anticipated MCU title. The upcoming film is gaining significant attention within the MCU community. Regarded as a potential game-changer by insiders, the studio is banking on its success to reignite enthusiasm among fans, who have shown declining interest in the genre.
Several factors contribute to the immense anticipation surrounding the movie. Firstly, it marks Deadpool’s debut in the MCU. Additionally, it sees Hugh Jackman reprising his role as a variant of Wolverine, despite his character’s demise in Fox’s X-Men Universe. Moreover, numerous cameos from previous movie franchises, along with rumored appearances by new stars like Taylor Swift, add to the excitement.

‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ is the hottest upcoming title as far as the MCU goes. The movie is already being praised as a game-changer and the studio is counting on it to restore some faith and excitement as fans are less and less interested in the genre.
Now there are quite a few obvious things why the movie generates some much hype. First, it’s going to be Deadpool’s first foray into the MCU. It’s also the first movie in which Hugh Jackman will reprise his role as Wolverine variant after dying in Fox’s X-Men Universe. But there are also a lot of cameos promised from the aforementioned movie franchise, and some new cameos that are only being whispered about like Taylor Swift for example.

His career is a testament to the pervasive appeal of ghazal, for Pankaj Udhas, among the foremost who brought the perceived elitist genre of music into the popular sphere, hailed well beyond its prime catchment area, but mastered the form with dedication and performed it with panache.
Pankaj Udhas, who passed away on Monday aged 72, is usually – and erroneously – seen as a purveyor of the ghazal’s “maikhana” tradition.
This is chiefly due to his famous renditions of “Mujhko yaaron muaaf karna, main nashe mein hoon”, “Thodi thodi piya karo”,”Sharab cheez hi aisi”, “Ek taraf us ka ghai ek taraf maikada”, “Sabko maloom hai main sharabi nahi” and several other vintage melodies, but there was more range to his velvet-rounded voice.
Recall the ebullient “Chandi jaisa rang hain tera”, the pensive “Kabhi saaya hai kabhi dhoop” or “Aap jinke kareeb hote hai”, the lightly mournful “Deewaron se milkar rona...

Emotions and politics fly fast and hard in Siddharth Anand's mega-budget Hindi-language “Fighter”, a new attempt at making the next big cinematic universe after his stints in Yash Raj Films' Spy Universe, “War” and “Pathaan”. While “Pathaan” heralded the return of Bollywood legend Shah Rukh Khan, “War” saw him refine his partnership with the similarly beloved Hrithik Roshan, giving him another super-hunk super-spy role after “Bang Bang!”, a remake of the Tom Cruise/Cameron Diaz action rom-com “Knight & Day”. The shadow of Tom Cruise looms over Anand's work with increasing prominence nowadays; “Pathaan” recruited “Top Gun: Maverick”‘s stunt coordinator Casey O'Neill as its second unit and action director, and now, Anand's very own production company Marflix Pictures utilises Roshan's lucrative leading man status into India's very own “Top Gun” (complete with a villain modelled off Cruise's hair and outfit in “Mission: Impossible II”). Anil Kapoor’s Fighting Spirit: On Four Decades of Film, the ‘Slumdog’ Effect, and One Heck of a Year
Anil Kapoor still gets meetings he can trace back to “Slumdog Millionaire.”
Chatting with IndieWire shortly after the premiere of Viacom18’s “Fighter,” the Indian actor is one of the rare global stars to enjoy “crossover success” — a buzzy term that, these days, seems to mean less crossing over and more crossing back-and-forth. Indian film stars, once compelled to journey West to Hollywood, now enjoy rich storytelling opportunities at home that also exist abroad. Between “Fighter,” “Animal,” a remake of “The Night Manager,” and daughter Rhea’s TIFF premiere, Kapoor’s last 12 months demonstrate the diversity of projects available for Indian actors today — though he still gets the most worldwide acknowledgement for “Slumdog.”
“I get really surprised sometimes at the kind of people who still know me, still remember me, and want to work with me. It’s still continuing,” Kapoor told IndieWire. “As a matter of fact, I insist...

Fighter
Starring Hrithik Roshan, Deepika Padukone , Anil Kapoor
Directed by Siddharth Anand
Hrithik Roshan does a homegrown Tom Cruise in Siddharth Anand’s Pathaan without its jaan, Shah Rukh Khan.
It is a rollercoaster ride for those who are not fans of airborne disasters. You may enjoy Hrithik and Deepika, together for the first and blast time, flying war planes across the LoC. But hell, you know it is not them in the planes. Even if it is they, the stress is more creating a midair Cruise than focussing on the relationships.
Most fatally, Roshan and Padukone seem to have very little us-time together. Most of the time their characters Patty and Mini move in a group with their other airforce chums, doing so many slo-mo shots together it feels like an ad for war wear. Speaking of ads, Deepika tells Roshan at some point in their pointless prattle, “I’ve heard you like Zomato.

Hrithik Roshan and Deepika Padukone can’t inject feeling into an air force love story with lifeless CGI and obtrusive product placement
Fresh off the megahit Pathaan, director Siddharth Anand is back with yet another star vehicle, this time pairing Indian superstars Hrithik Roshan and Deepika Padukone on screen for the first time. Aiming to valorise the tribulations and triumphs of the Indian air force, Fighter inevitably invites comparisons to the Top Gun franchise. The parallel extends to more than mere visual similarities: these films are all made with the approval and support of the military in their countries.
While the recent Top Gun update Maverick coyly constructs a faceless, stateless enemy, Fighter goes full throttle into an India v Pakistan showdown. Considering the current state of Hindi cinema, such hyper-nationalistic storytelling is to be expected, but the film offers little in terms of action pizazz. CGI-ed to death, the...

State of the art tech, exciting action sequences, swaggering young heroes … it’s no surprise that the world’s new superpowers have fallen for blockbuster air force films. But can they be anything more than military propaganda?
In an era of rising global tension, there are a few status symbols the self-respecting global superpower can’t do without. Nuclear weapons? Sure. A space programme? Natch. But the latest geopolitical must-have is superficially more niche: a supersonic, hyper-nationalistic blockbuster air force film. There wasn’t a soul on the planet who failed to notice the media sonic boom as Tom Cruise passed overhead with Top Gun: Maverick in May 2022, while its Chinese counterpart Born to Fly came out a year later. And this month India gets in on the game with its own flyboy extravaganza Fighter, starring Hrithik Roshan, whose quiff alone qualifies as some kind of national monument.

Yash Raj Films’ “Tiger 3,” starring Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif, debuted in fourth position at the global box office with $11.5 million, according to numbers released by Comscore.
The film achieved this despite opening in India on Nov. 12, a Sunday, on the day of the Diwali festival. Diwali is India’s biggest festival and audiences traditionally shun cinemas in favor of family celebrations in the run up to it. However, Monday and Tuesday are also holidays in several parts of India, giving the film the flavor of a weekend, albeit a couple of days late.
“Tiger 3” opened in North America a day earlier, on Nov. 11. The Hindi-language film was also released in Tamil and Telugu-language dubbed versions.
In India, the film grossed $6.3 million, including dubbed versions, on Sunday, according to Yash Raj Films. That makes it the highest grossing Diwali day in the history of Hindi-language cinema surpassing “Krrish 3...

Looks like there are attempts by vested interests to bring the fans wars over stars on to the streets. One knows the kind of groups that get into prolonged arguments on X for the star they favour, or are appointed by, or paid occasionally. They also abuse and run down other stars. All they need to do is toe the line their star master has assigned to them.

Interview‘Paradise’, directed by Sri Lankan filmmaker Prasanna Vithanage, is about a Malayali couple who land in Sri Lanka during the economic crisis. The film has Darshana Rajendran and Roshan Mathew in the lead.Still from 'Paradise'Across a phone call, Prasanna Vithanage’s voice fades mid-sentence. It must be the weather, he says when he is back. As I picture Sri Lanka in the rain, he asks, is it pouring hard in Kerala. It isn’t, but there has been a spell or two, right in the middle of Onam. Ah, Onam, he says fondly of Kerala’s biggest festival. Everything about Kerala appears very dear to this filmmaker in Sri Lanka, who has been coming to the state’s annual film festival (Iffk) year after year since it began in the mid-1990s. It seems apt that after decades of making many noticeable films, Prasanna has now made a...

ReviewThis is a 2-hour 23-minute drill on how smoking can kill you, delivered in the breathless fashion of a lecturer who is trying to cover the entire syllabus before the bell rings. In Pawan Kumar’s Dhoomam, Avinash (Fahadh Faasil), the marketing genius of a tobacco company, proposes that they make an anti-smoking ad that people would actually want to watch – and slyly promote smoking through it. The idea behind Dhoomam seems to be loosely based on this thought. A thriller about the ill-effects of smoking that would catch the audience’s attention. Except, there is nothing sly or subtle about the messaging. Kollywood Prarthana Theatre, India’s first drive-in theatre, is set to be demolished to make way for ultra-luxury villas.Courtesy/AjaySrinivasanTwitterPrarthana drive-in theatre has been a long cherished landmark in Chennai, and it has a significant heritage of being India’s first such endeavour. With the theatre now shut down and set to be demolished to make way for ultra-luxury villas, Chennaites recall their experiences of watching movies there as the city says its farewell to the iconic cinema hall. Crackling and unpredictable speakers, children stargazing while the adults watch films, heavy competition from corporate-run multiplexes, dearly held memories with a parent who has since passed away – Prarthana Drive-in Theatre has seen it all ever since its doors first opened to the public in 1991. The theatre had the advantage of being situated near the city’s beach at Injambakkam on the East Coast Road, adding another layer of charm and wonder for movie-goers.

Mumbai, May 12 (Ians) Actor Roshan Kapoor, who plays the role of Maahir in ‘Bade Achhe Lagte Hain 2’, says he felt the pressure of his performance initially.
The actor is playing a comic character and Roshan admits that it’s not easy to make people laugh.
“It’s my first show with Balaji so, yes, there was pressure to play a funny character well. It’s an important character and requires a lot of screen presence. Yes, the pressure was there as to make someone laugh isn’t easy. You should have that punch and timings. There can be technical issues or if someone fumbles then you have to do another take. So again, you have to bring that comic timing and it gets tough.
To prepare for the role, Roshan did something unique.
“So, what I did before sleeping was that I watched some comedy like Kapil Sharma’s show.

The editor-in-chief has been ousted after more than four years in the job, during which time he steered a major rebrand of the publication through buzzy, high-impact cover stories and features while expanding the title’s social media footprint.
Roshan’s exit comes directly on the heels of massive shifts on the business side. In December, Los Angeles was acquired by power lawyers and business leaders Mark Geragos and Ben Meiselas through their newly launched Engine Vision Media in a deal that also covered Pasadena and Orange Coast magazines. At the time, the pair said they planned to invest in the titles and “provide the resources needed to take them to the next level,” per Geragos.
The deal was welcomed as a shot in the arm by Los Angeles staff, which had been decimated in recent years amid challenges to the media industry.

The eternal combination of music with films and stars, many a times their fate intertwined, with each giving a boost to the other, is considered a hallmark of Indian movies. This has been the tradition of almost all films produced in India – since the humble beginning made with “Raja Harishchandra” (1913) by the venerable Father of Indian Cinema, Dhundiraj Govind ‘Dadasaheb’ Phalke.
Among the sackful of musical blockbusters churned out by Bollywood, one of the front-rankers is K Asif’s National Award winner “Mughal-e-Azam” (1960) with a dozen unforgettable scores by the Master of the Baton, Naushad Ali. Surprisingly, this all-time megabuster did not see Dilip Kumar, the winsome Prince Salim, singing a single song on the silver screen.
All the 12 songs in “Mughal-e-Azam” were left to other characters such as the besotted Madhubala (Anarkali) and the jealous Bahar Begum (Nigar Sultana), a wandering soothsayer, or royal court musician Tansen, in the...

Los Angeles, Dec 10 (Ians) Actor Hrithk Roshan spoke at length about his career, his charitable work and the professional relationship he has with his father, director Rakesh Roshan at the ongoing Red Sea Film Festival.
“My father was against me coming into films because of the struggle that he had to go through,” said Roshan when asked if his father supported his choice to venture into acting. “He struggled very hard for 20 years and did not want me to go through what he went through. But I think there was something inside me that was really determined,” reports Variety.
“I wanted to prove myself because I grew up with a really bad stutter and this was my one chance to look and feel normal,” he continued, telling the audience how the exclusion and isolation he felt due to his childhood stammering led him to set up a charity foundation with...

It took dozens of security guards to ensure Indian superstar Hrithik Roshan could safely walk the 50 meters from the entrance of the Red Sea Mall to the cinema screening where his In Conversation event took place as part of the Red Sea Film Festival. The lucky ones who got a space in one of the most disputed talks of the festival heard the actor speak in length about his career, his charitable work and the professional relationship he maintains with his dad, director Rakesh Roshan.

Chef
Starring Saif Ali Khan, Padmapriya Janakiraman, Svar Kamble
Directed by Raja Krishna Menon
There is a lot of teasing between the father and son, played with endearing casualness by Saif Ali Khan and Svar Kamble. Aptly, Chef teases our appetite for cinema. It’s a culinary delight—warm, tender, inviting and appetizing– served up in a dainty dish with a dash of debonair but played-down posturing, like a masterchef who is shy to show off his skills but can’t help it. He’s so adept at what he does.
Chef conveys the kind of sagacious skill born not out of arrogance but wisdom sometimes misplaced. Like the protagonist Roshan Kalra’s traditionalist father who believes the kitchen is for women.
Speaking of which—arrogance more than wisdom—Saif Ali Khan’s Roshan Kalra (from Chandni Chowk Delhi married to and divorced from the lovely Malayali danseuse Radha Menon...
