Chanoc series and bonus of Mexican superheroes

The adventures of Chanoc, and his anti-sidekick Tsekub. The eight, yet unassociated movies were filmed between 1967 and 1981. Mostly, the movies depicted Pedro Zapiaín's "sea and jungle" theme of the Gulf of Mexico, of the more than 1,100 historietas or comic books published from 1959 to 2018.

The films featured as Chanoc, heartthrobs like Andrés García and Gregorio Casal; and the animal trainer Humberto Gurza, tamer in the movie Conan the Barbarian. As Tsekub, they included endearing comedians such as Germán Valdés Tin Tan, Ramón Valdés, and its own director Chano Ureta.

Bonus:

The two megaproductions of Kaliman feature the Canadian actor Jeff Cooper and the voice of the Mexican Manuel Pelayo, and culminate the more than 1,000 radionovela broadcasts starting in 1963 for Mexico and Latin America, and more than 1,350 historietas published between 1965 to 2005 (some reaching one million prints).

Three movies about the charro hero El Payo, featuring Jorge Rivero, legacy of almost 600 popular, graphic-realist historietas, and at its time influenced by the golden age radionovelas of "El Charro Negro" and "Chucho el Roto". Hints of Juan Rulfo's Pedro Paramo sets and the fight of the oppressed underdogs in the Mexican countryside.

Three movies of Alma Grande; a western sided with the Indians; a common trait on the South side of the border. The sidekick, a Swede who raised the orphan, Yaqui Indian Alma Grande, likely drew more attention in the actor David Reynoso.

Two movies of the later controversial Professor Zovec, briefly portrayed in the movie Roma, and featuring the mentalist himself.



Luchadores El Santo, Blue Demon and Mil Máscaras... well I guess a genre and worth another list on its own.
