Zusammenfassungen

  • The five teams travel from Bangkok, Thailand to Guilin, China. One person gets frustrated when a dancing judge can't understand their question. A battle between two teams throughout the leg leads to a full-blown meltdown when they arrive at the Pit Stop.—Allister Coots

Synopsis

  • Bangkok, Thailand. The five teams leave the eighth pit stop at a palace. Margie and Luke leave at 9:36 a.m. for Guilin, China, more than 1,000 miles away. There, they'll travel to a hair salon to find their next clue.

Margie and Luke get to the airport and get a connecting flight that leaves in an hour. The cheerleaders leave next. They're dismayed to see they're going to China, which is very populated. Not one of Cara's favorite things, she says.

Tammy and Victor leave third. She's been to Guilin -- for spring break two years ago.

In her interview, Jen says with five teams remaining her competitive nature comes out and if she sees someone in front of her, she's going to knock them over.

Margie and Luke arrive at the connecting airport first.

Mark and Michael leave next - four hours behind thanks to their penalties.

The first three teams meet up waiting for their connection, which is delayed.

Kisha and Jen are on a different flight on a different airline. They arrive first. They're not sure what to make of the fact they haven't seen any other teams.

In the cab, Tammy enjoys being in a country where she and Victor speak the language. But in the cab all this means is that they understand the driver when he says he doesn't know where he's going. Margie and Luke reach the clue first. It sends them to a bridge. Tammy and Victor are right behind but end up in the lead when the cheerleaders follow their cab.

The stuntmen land and hope they're still in it.

Margie and Luke pull up to the hair salon and see Kisha and Jen running in the street. Jen says she doesn't trust them.

Margie says she surprised by Luke's competitiveness. The two teams arrive outside the hair salon at the same time and see the clue box at the same time. What happens next is played in slo-mo over and over like the Zapruder film. Luke gets there in front of Jen. She runs up behind him and tries to grab his shoulders or pull him off and he tosses an elbow to get her off him. Then she calls him a "bitch" because, she explains, it was a "bitch move."

In the cab, Margie tells Luke what she said. Luke says it's a good thing he's deaf. If he'd heard her, it would have been on. "Calling the deaf guy a bitch is not nice," he says, adding that it's time to get dirty.

Tammy and Victor read the road block first. Teams take a raft out to the river where they train a cormorant to fetch fish in the river. Once the bird brings back 10, they're done. Tammy volunteers. The cheerleaders are right behind them.

Mark and Michael wander, looking for the hair salon.

Margie and Luke get to the bridge steps ahead of Kisha and Jen. Another race for the clue box ensues. She steps in front of him and body blocks him, then shoves him off. Margie yells at her to cut it out.

On her boat, Jen is laughing, telling Tammy and Victor they just missed a great fight with Luke.

Each team member doing the challenge floats on a bamboo raft with a bird and a trainer, tossing in one fish at a time for the bird to fetch and return.

Mark and Mike find their speed bump at the salon, they have to shampoo and dry two little old ladies' hair.

Tammy thinks her bird is stubborn and tries to encourage it on in Chinese. This doesn't seem to help.

Luke is holding the fish at one point and the bird bites it out of his hand, drawing some blood.

The sisters and cheerleaders finish at the same time and head back to the shore. Kisha and Jen get their clue first. They have to head to the Ancient South Gate for their next clue. Of Luke getting bit, Jen says she believes in karma and he showed "extremely bad sportsmanship."

Jamie is thrilled that their taxi driver is actually racing for a change. Margie and Luke finish. Tammy and Victor, who got there first, have one fish left. Their bird complicates things by flying away.

Mark and Mike finish their salon speed bump.

Tammy finally gets her last fish from the bird. Margie and Luke have a slow boat driver and end up getting in their cab after Tammy and Victor.

In the cab, Kisha and Jen say they're out for Margie and Luke. Jen says she'll piss them off more because she'll laugh in their face.

Margie tells Luke to forget about it.

Kisha and Jen reach the clue box first. It's a detour. Choreography or caligraphy. In the first, they have to learn the dance and perform it together for judges. If they perform it correctly, they'll get the next clue. In caligraphy they have to copy a series of characters at four stations.

Kisha and Jen go with caligraphy. The cheerleaders take dancing. Margie and Luke take caligraphy because Luke noted the directions said "when the music starts..." and he wouldn't be able to hear it. Tammy and Victor also go for writing.

Mark and Mike arrive at the fishing.

Jamie and Cara start dancing (Jamie tries to lead).

Kisha and Jen and Margie and Luke start writing at the same time and Tammy and Victor come up right behind them.

Jamie and Cara learn the dance from some locals, who manhandle them a little in teaching the steps.

Tammy and Victor read their caligraphy and race off in search of what they wrote. The other teams are right behind.

Jamie and Cara try dancing, but the judges say they did it wrong. The woman who taught them laughs at them.

The three writing teams head for the third station together as the cheerleaders start again. Victor tells one of the caligraphers, in Chinese, that if they don't win, their parents will cry themselves to death.

The three head to the fourth stage at the same time.

Mark and Mike finish fishing and go to the gate.

Jamie and Cara finish and are again told "no." They're upset that no one can tell them what they're doing wrong.

They quit and head for caligraphy. But then they turn around and decide to try one more time.

The three teams writing get the pit stop clue, Banyan lake, where they have to find a view corresponding to a drawing they got. They're traveling by foot. A foot race breaks out. Kisha and Jen are in front, trailed by Tammy and Victor and Margie and Luke.

Kisha and Jen are first and win a trip to Barbados. Tammy and Victor are second, with Margie and Luke in third. Phil asks them about the tension. Luke wants to say something. Margie tells him not to say anything, but he's upset. Mother and son and the sisters describe things very differently. Luke gets frustrated and tries to explain he's upset. Kisha laughs. Margie and Luke both think it's at him. She tries to say she's smiling, not laughing at him. They say that he was trying to express himself. Margie goes all mama bear on her and Kisha apologizes, saying she wasn't trying to mock him. It mostly sounds sincere.

The cheerleaders finally figure out they're were supposed to continue dancing and not stop and pass the test. They're team No. 4.

Mark and Mike greatly entertain the assembled Chinese dancers and arrive last. They're eliminated.

"All in all, it was a great dash around the world," one says, and the other says it humbled him a little bit. "This world's an amazing place."
