- Aileen Wuornos was that rare "female serial killer" responsible for the murder of seven (7) men in Florida between 1989-1990 by shooting them all at point-blank range. Wuornos had an unorthodox upbringing being raised by her grandparents after her mother abandoned her at an early age, and her father had left her mother before she was born. She was raped and impregnated at age 14 and her new born child was immediately taken away and given up for adoption to an unknown family. Aileen Wournos had multiple run-ins with the law and served prison time before even commencing her murder spree. She stole the cars of her murder victims and then traveled with her female lover Tyria Moore, a hotel maid, who she met at a Daytona Beach gay bar to continue with her murder spree under the pretense she was a prostitute. Her criminal defense was she only murdered the men after she herself was being threatened by her Johns. In court proceedings she eventually recanted her earlier testimony after it was proven that some of the men she murdered were not her Johns, but innocent victims meeting their demise by being at the wrong place and time when they met up with serial killer Aileen Wuornos. After being found guilty in the murder of six (6) of the seven (7) murder victims (Peter Siems body was never found) Aileen Wuornos's execution took place on October 9, 2002.—Ed Shullivan
- In 1990, Florida police were on a frantic search for a killer. Seven men were dead, their bodies scattered along state highways. Terrorized motorists heard of the bullet-ridden victims of the Interstate Killer - but the investigative trail was cold and there was no end in sight. The killer behind the spree was Aileen Wuornos-a complex, misunderstood misfit who hitchhiked near truck stops, selected her victims at random, and lured them to secluded locations. It took good old-fashioned police work, a little luck, and a lover's betrayal, to finally bring Wuornos' killing spree to an end. This episode features rare interviews with victims' family members, and Wuornos' best friend.—HLN
