We just decided to try the first episode of this series to see if we liked it. From the first 10 minutes we were hooked. Intelligent, witty dialogue, interesting characters and character development and an intriguing plot. We had to watch all episodes for our own mental wellness, we were so invested in it. It is a bit harrowing but very well worth it. The main protagonist is excellent as is his partner/assistant. They play off each other so well. Then there are the various misfits that gather around him in the new cold case department who shine in their new environment. At the end of the series, I felt like a weight had been lifted from my shoulders. I hope Netflix makes a second series!

I love the books, read multiple times but unfortunately the series doesn't live up to my reading imagination. Maybe it is the lead. I just imagined Murderbot to be a bigger more commanding presence with a soft centre and a wisecracking humor. I don't even like the sound of his voice or the way he seems uncertain and nervous. The rest of the cast seem silly and make foolish decisions just to create drama. These are supposed to be intelligent people with hearts. Just a bit off for me; a diehard fan of the books. I will continue to watch though but not with the great enthusiasm that I thought I would have.

I have only seen the first episode but some parts of it left me vexed. I love period dramas but I want them to be believable. I found the dialogue stilted, the costumes overdone, the character portrayal too modern and the scenes to stylised. I was disappointed. Perhaps the next episodes will be better and my opinion might soften.
