Mulligan (2023)
Really Funny (esp. if you love Tina Fey/Robert Carlock)
This show had me laughing from the beginning of episode one. The voices are great (especially Dana Carvey as Senator Cartwright LaMarr) and the writing is excellent. It's got all the feel of the other Tina Fey/Robert Carlock collaborations- 30 Rock, Kimmy Schmidt etc- so if you're a fan of those shows, this will hit with you right away (though Fey didn't write for this one).
And while there's nothing here that's groundbreaking compared to those previous shows, the post-apocalyptic setting allows the writers to lean into the more absurd side of their humor, which I loved.
On a final note, it seems like a lot of reviewers are trashing this show because Netflix cancelled other shows they like. I get that frustration, but giving this show a bad review because you're mad at Netflix doesn't help people who are looking at IMDB to find something good to watch. If you're reading this review, don't let the average scare you away from giving it a shot. This show is really good and definitely deserves another season (or two, three....).
Heal (2017)
So many "Answers" to "Life's" "Questions"
Heal seeks to answer a question that most of us ask ourselves daily: now that I've married this billionaire, what shall I do with my time? "Director" Kelly Noonan answers this question boldly as she speaks with "authors," many of which she appears to chase while on their lunch break in New York City. One man talks to ghosts and seems disappointed when Noonan doesn't have a terminal illness. The rest of us are disappointed for other reasons.
All jokes aside, this is a gold digger's fantasy ride. Please don't be tricked into believing it.
