Gunsmoke: Bohannan (1972)
Amazing in it's 18th Season they still produced excellent quality episodes.
I was totally amazed how well written Bohannan was, This episode was not full of cliche's nor stereotypes. Richard Kiley and Milburn Stone deserved Emmy's for their performances as well as writer William Kelley. I am not nor ever will be a Religious man but I am a strong believer in Faith. I admit this episode will generate tears of joy. I cannot put into words how outstanding sometimes the positive power of Television can be without being manipulative.
The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson: Episode dated 23 April 1973 (1973)
Entertaining episode. Vicki Carr was a charming hostess.
I enjoyed this episode but especially for the Michael Landon segments. This episode was produced almost four months after the final episode of BONANZA. They showed the famous clip of Landon saying farewell for the cast then being shot out of the door with a rifle saying Adios. Then Carr and Landon did an question and answer with the audience where Landon discussed the series, his feelings for Lorne Greene and the two hour episode of the fourteenth season where Little Joe's wife was murdered and the outpouring of mail it received and why it was presented that way. An audience member asked Landon his opinion of Dan Blocker. Mind you this was less than a year after his death and the loss was still raw in his heart. He praised Dan Blocker as a human being and in his opinion the best actor he ever worked with while trying not to cry. The final question was about Pernell Roberts where he was a bit sarcastic about him leaving and then saying what he did was what Roberts felt was right. 'A man has to do what a man has to do'. But, you could tell there was still bitterness about what he did and how it could have hurt the series. A very enjoyable episode.
