Deliver Us from Evil (2014)
Well Done
It's not easy to pull off an exorcism movie but this was entertaining. Good cinematography, solid acting and interesting storyline, which is supposedly based on true events.
Nice change that it didn't just focus on a single possession. Quality special effects and atmosphere with actors able to perform convincing roles that can be difficult to play without looking tacky. Since IMDB insists on a minimum requirement of characters, I'll add that both leads were great in later roles, Edgar Ramírez in Versace and Eric Bana in Dirty John, but really, the actors who portrayed the possessed also gave strong performances.
The Babadook (2014)
Great manifestation of grief and depression
The Babadook - on the surface, a monster who takes possession of a little boy's mother. Beneath the surface the Babadook is an excellent portrayal of what grief and depression would look like if it were visible and the demon it can become.
Ghosts (2019)
Charming Comedy
Such a fun series. Each of the ghosts have their own fun, quirky character and the couple who inherit the house are genuinely likable. I've seen a few episodes of the American version and it pales in comparison.
Ghosts (2021)
Do yourself a favor and watch the original
The British ghosts are so likable and so is the couple. It's not so much the show, per se, it's the characters that make the series. The American ghosts fall flat - and the couple who live in the house are just plain awful.
The Tell-Tale Heart (1960)
Pathetic Poe
Story depicts Poe as a horny, loser who gets jealous that the woman he is drooling over falls for his handsome friend, who actually has some charisma.
