Christmas in the City (2013)
Love Is All Around
This film has gotten some pretty nasty reviews here. This film doesn't deserve that. It sets out to tell a story and "Amps the Camp Level" where its needed. Ashley Williams is remarkable in this. You should see it.
In this film Wendy Carroll (Ashley Williams) and her six-year-old daughter Grace (Kylie Price) live in a small town where Christmas is everywhere. She gets a foreclosure notice three weeks before Christmas on her father's candy store which she has been running for the last five years. To make some extra money in order to save the candy store, Wendy and Grace travel to the big city, where they stay with Wendy's friend Angie from back home who just got a major part in a play. Angie works at Wolman's - the city's largest department store - where she takes Wendy to apply for a temp job. While waiting for Angie to check in, Wendy meets Tom, who manages the store and offers her a job in the toy department. She thinks the store is amazing, with all the Christmas holiday cheer; unfortunately her excitement doesn't last long when the store's outside manager consultant , Teanna (Ashanti), destroys the Christmas spirit throughout the store and replaces the joy season with garish displays.
The film is however a celebration of love of family. Something many films fail at. This one didn't! Shame on you if you don't watch it!
Christmas Town (2008)
This is made for the Santa Believers
This film works for young children. Adults will be bored but its not made for you. In this film a young man discovers that Santa's village may not be in the North Pole.
The acting is fine the special effects are not great but the story works and at the end of the day that is what counts. Family safe. You will smile at the end if you give it a fare chance!
