The Genetic Detective (2020)
Too much back-story
I love the story and how DNA is such an essential tool to solve a crime. I love the closure families get once a horrific crime has been solved solved. I appreciate CeCe's passion. What I don't like is all the backstory about CeCe...what she used to do, how her interest in DNA grew, blah, blah! Get to the story at hand!!!
Property Brothers: Miles Apart (George & Jenn) (2017)
No Vision
I truly am fond of Drew and Jonathan...They are really nice guys and do seem to know their business. It always irks me with the added expenses that are in EVERY reno they do. Still, having said that...George and Jenn were More irksome. She had no concept or vision of the expansion that could make the house open and gorgeous. George kept on inserting HIS opinion, likes, dislikes, etc...too much. But Jenn not getting a round mirror in a square frame...I mean...really. She says she's world traveled. Maybe they spent too much time jumping around to take a gander at decorating styles!!
Grant (2020)
Casting
This series is excellent...it really reflects Grant's strategic approach to the war...; he was fit to win the war, not solely battles.
My only criticism is that Grant was 5'8"....Lincoln was 6' 4"....decidedly a great difference in height. Yet the actor portraying Lincoln was not taller than the Grant actor. Sorry...not authentic casting here.
Good Bones (2016)
Mother/Daughter Authenticity
My husband and I watch rehab shows a LOT! Good Bones is one of our favorites. Both ladies came from very different backgrounds...Mina a business major...Karen an attorney. They established a rehab business "2 Chicks and a Hammer"....which has evolved into Good Bones. They know their construction...especially Mina...and they do a heck of a lot more than wear heels, tight jeans, and nail in 1 nail...(like another rehab show...!). While I'm not a fan of their constant use of purple...or chunking items I think could be re-purposed...I like the gals and appreciate their transparency. Hope they continue their success!!
Good Bones: Family Reunion Renovation (2016)
Poor Mina
Renovating her Dad's home had to be SO stressful for Mina. I mean...her Dad...what a piece of work!! I think his wife Missy got in 3 words reference the renovation process, etc. he's obviously and egotist and control freak!!
My hat's off to Mina...she tried to soften her Dad's personality....didn't work with me.
But Mina is a doll...love her and her Mom. Her Dad...not s much.
Bargain Mansions (2017)
I, Me, Mine!!!
Tamara...please! There are too many "I" 's in your conversation. It's a team effort, but according to your descriptions, YOU do it all. I'm not sure why you call in your Dad and others for their advice/guidance...because you never ask for it. You just prattle on about you. As your Dad said once , " I'm not sure why I'm even here." Good question, Dad!
Think of other ways to describe a design...or a vision. Try to stay away from the "I" so much.
The Rocket (2018)
Runner vs Football
This is truly a sweet story of perseverance and drive...the old "One door closes another opens" scenario. The acting was subpar...but I could get past that. ...focus on the message! The Dad was pretty awful...surprised he got away with being so mean. But, what I really had difficulty with was the constant comparison of the football player bodies ...big, bulky, etc ...with the runners' bodies...wiry, smaller framed, etc. I agree that's very true in reality, but the actors in the movie didn't bring that home...That is, their bodies didn't reflect that. The kids portraying the football guys weren't big, bulky, muscular. They really looked the same as the runners. They acted tough, but the bodies weren't there to back them up. I guess that's a casting issue...but it did caused me not to completely embrace the movie.
NCIS: New Orleans (2014)
Least Fav NCIS
While I am fond of the individual actors...the roles some of them portray just don't work.
Ms Pounder is perfect...best casting choice, by far.
Sebastian needs to be back in the lab...he just doesn't cut it as an actor when he portrays "tough guy" on the street. I know he isn't supposed to be a TOUGH guy character, but really...would the REAL New Orleans put him out in the field?
...just putting it out there!!!
The Good Doctor (2017)
Shaun vs His Emotions
I really like this show...I love Shaun's exceptional intelligence and creative approach to a patient's surgical needs. I applaud the writers' decision to have Shaun deal with love, rejection, etc. I also applaud them for FINALLY having Shaun's peers and superiors voice irritation with his self-absorbed approach to ...well almost everything and everyone. It is who he is, but walking on eggshells around him isn't healthy for anyone.
Now that Shaun has exploded to Lea and Dr M called him out...let's move on. It's time for Shaun to reflect and regroup!! I'm sure his patient peers...though oft times promoters of reinforcement error behavior...will be there for him. ...and perhaps he can learn to be there for them.
Lincoln Rhyme: Hunt for the Bone Collector (2020)
...a little thing...
Just a suggestion...but "Amelia", please put that constant shock of hair behind your ear! It's not sexy...it's distracting!!
FBI: Most Wanted (2020)
Real FBI...NOT
Where to begin?!
1. The background music is distracting and cheesy...it's got to go
2. Since when do FBI agents become involved in the emotional well being of the perpetrators? ...especially to the degree of lowering their weapons while the perp still holds his...
3. There is a process that is strictly followed in order for someone to be added to the FBI most wanted list...this show would make you think that it's overnight...how insulting to the FBI!
4. The acting is poor and predictable...
5. The daughter (tired of her and her always being called 'sweetie') has got to go...her role is negligible
Bottom line...I gave it a chance... never got better...
A Miracle on Christmas Lake (2016)
Don't waste your time...
Not sure where to begin on this one... I truly am always drawn to any Christmas movie with magic in it...so, this movie seemed to be "all that" and maybe more. However, it was a disappointment...poor acting, confusing character development, and overly dramatic moments that were really lack luster.
Apparently this is a small town who lost one of its own....a teenage boy. Everyone SHOULD be affected, but only one boy (best friend of the dead teen) grapples with his grief. His mother and brother are short-tempered with the boy...unsympathetic to his sorrow. The other boys in town (friends of the dead youth) also show no empathy with this young man. Even a teacher takes his shots to this kid.
But when the young man makes a speech before the town council (reference a lake land sale he opposed) moods change and he's lauded everything but the key to the town. ... unbelievable!
I'm sorry...I tried to find redeeming pieces to this movie, but found none. Maybe I was too hung-up on an older brother who looked old enough to be the dad, rather than an older teen.
No Time Like Christmas (2019)
Writer Issues...
I won't comment on the acting...enough said already. My issue lies with the writers. Two points I'd like to make....first, on the night of the performance there was a snow storm keeping the actors from getting to the theatre...; and yet the theatre was packed ...I guess the audience came on snow -mobiles!!?? Second point...The story line flowed decently until the "performance" night. ...a live-streamed, packed theatre audience were treated to one song and a declaration of love between the stars? While I wasn't expecting the entire play, I thought there would be more...it was very rushed!!! The fault isn't totally with the stars... but with the writers.
Searching (2018)
Captivating...!
For the first 10 minutes if this film I thought..."geez...can I sit through a movie filmed in this manner?" ...but I did and am SO glad I did!!
What an original, innovative approach to unraveling a mystery...! Kudos to the writers, the director, the producer...and HUGE "high-fives" to the actors....
I usually have the antagonist nailed at the beginning of a movie...not this time...impressive!!! A Golden Globe nomination at the very least....!!
The Flight Before Christmas (2015)
A Prince and a Shrew
I'm not sure where to begin here...I do admit turning it off 10 minutes to the end...I just couldn't take it any longer.
While the storyline was nothing original, the casting was the worse ever. The male star's character was handsome, kind, and patient ...more than patient...with his co-star's character. That character was awful...on too many levels...bitter, thankless, prickly, rude... If this movie was considered a "romance", then I would question the writers and producers.
He was a Prince...she was a Shrew!!
