Cryptomania (2022)
Ugh, such lazy journalism
Don't waste your time. I work in traditional finance but also own some crypto and so have a fairly good understanding of both sides of the coin. This documentary is very lazy and because it has selected such a poor quality of "experts" to interview (I assure you most are the complete opposite) the information that is portrayed is poor and it will completely mislead someone who is new to crypto. Steve Johnson was the only person who knew what they were talking about. Whereas the guy who used to work for the SEC is a complete moron (shock) he says that crypto is used for money laundering, sex trafficking and drug dealing - ah yes, criminals love to leave permanent records of their crimes on a immutable public ledger that everyone can see 😂 Molly White is a bitter loser, I'm not sure why she got so much screen time . Yes there are many scams in crypto but there is also some incredible technology that has been developed with many use cases, this will likely change the world that we live in along with AI. There is a very good chance that we have developed a far superior version of gold in bitcoin. If you are interested in learning more about crypto, I would highly recommend starting with bitcoin, Lyn Alden has an amazing 30 minute YouTube video explainer about broken money. Saiffedean Ammous' The bitcoin standard is also a must read. Put the hours in and you will be thankful!
Your Christmas or Mine 2 (2023)
Potentially one of the worst movies ever made
We remember the first movie not being too bad, so sat down to watch the sequel as we fancied a Christmas movie. I don't know where to start really but it was incredibly cringey throughout and there isn't a single part that was funny or entertaining. The main failure is that the characters you are meant to like are actually rather horrible, and the ones you are meant to hate really didn't do much wrong. The main mother is meant to be the hero but she's really just a jealous cow to be honest. Just because they are rich they must be evil and vice versa, terribly lazy scripting. Avoid like the plague!
Industry (2020)
Ignore the bad reviews. Great show
I work in finance on a trading floor and of course there are some inaccuracies and cheesy moments but I think this is to make it more interesting for viewers outside of finance. This show was still completely gripping for me and I found all the characters engaging - whether you love or hate them. I loved the soundtrack and even the background noise on the trading floor made me smile at how accurate it is e.g. traders talking about their fantasy football team. Definitely worth a watch.
Greta (2018)
Very good thriller
Not sure why the reviews are so low. High tension throughout, decent storyline and some great twists, some guessable and some not. Definitely worth a watch.
Michael Inside (2017)
Must Watch
An excellent, gritty drama that keeps you hooked from start to finish. The lead actor Dafhyd (Michael) is brilliant and I expect to be seeing more of him in the future.
Cam (2018)
Other reviews said like black mirror, so disappointing
Started interesting, but then the bulk of the film nothing happened and dragged on, and then the ending is a joke. A good idea, but poorly executed.
