Worthed it.
16 August 2022
I saw it only now and I expected it to be great.

It was.

A great biography movie of Freddy Mercury and Queen band.

A story of talent, hard work, self believe and decisive moments.

Freddy, being one of the best - if not the best - showman in music industry and Queen, a band that revolutionized rock music in its time.

A must-see of the year 2018.

some basics
7 August 2022
A Netflix documentary presenting this topic from the perspective of 3 stages (body, mind, relations).

It has an inclusive touch and is indeed dedicated mostly to women.

I gave a 10 rating because I always give 10s.

The second installment...
17 April 2022
The second installment of 'Life in a Day' movie, first filmed in 2010, makes a 10 years leap and catches the world once again in its lenses, this time in the special conditions of the covid pandemic.

It's interesting to see how people thought this could unfold, how others are now after 10 years since the last movie and that the major concerns and joys of people around the world haven't changed.

A day of our lives
14 April 2022
Warning: Spoilers
The first movie of its kind (a second one was filmed 10 years later) by famous director Ridley Scott, a movie about small acts and random people.

The sun gets up, we get up for another day, some children see the light of the day for their first time, some other adults get married, while some other random people worked all day long, realizing their Saturday went by, just like that.

The sun sets for another day finally, and we spent another day of our lives. Nothing special can really happen in a day, but if we see life as a wonder itself, being healthy or with our loved ones can be a miracle in itself.

Inspirational, especially for Eastern Orthodox Christians
14 April 2022
Warning: Spoilers
The story of a known Greek saint from the 20th century, a priest who tries to please God and help his fellow people, but stirs up his colleagues instead.

In this holy man's pursuit, he even receives the admiration of some atheist, who even if he hardly believes in faith, he admires him for his pesonal traits.

As the priest says himself at some point, when asked if he is a good Christian: "I try to be".

That enough could be a motto for us, in any pursuit we would have, holy or of any other sort.

The Batman (2022)

old and new actors...
6 March 2022
...in the latest installment of the Batman movie series.

I am not the only one saying this movie raises to the standards of the previous Nolan's series of Batman movies, and the film also places the whole Batman universe to the present day, within our day-to-day social trends and technology.

About the actors:
  • Robert Pattinson brings his new maturer but still young and wild style to play Bruce Wayne (and who could play the Dark Knight detective better than the one who played a vampire in the Twilight series?);
  • Catwoman looks slick, and reminds me of the version played by Halle Berry in 2004's Catwoman (a movie I still have to watch);
  • Commissioner Gordon - I think it's the first time the police-man is played by a non-100% white actor, but he does a very good job!

  • the other important characters, like Alfred or Penguin, are in place, very well played also (I was quite surprised to see who played The Penguin)

Pattinson's Batman character faces a different villain this time.

As last time's Batman played by Christian Bale was facing a brute force enemy - Bane - , this time, Pattinson's Batman has to make use of his cunning skills to match the Riddler's.

It is good, great, and may be very likeable even for the non-Batman fans.

The Day Sports Stood Still (2021 TV Movie)
10/10
thoughtful
8 January 2022
The pandemic in 2020 took the world by storm and, even when I write this review, in 2022, we're still upside down, but slowly recovering and getting up.

Sports worldwide made no difference.

This documentary focuses more on the USA major sport leagues, with a special note on NBA and also the BLM movement.

Athletes are today's gladiators and, as many fans have made even idols out of some of their favorite superstars, sport's voice can be heard louder and its message delivered more successfully.

But aside from covid and social equality, sportspeople are people just like us, with families, goals and fears, and their life trembled too as 2020 unfolded.

a good recap
31 December 2021
Seen in the last minutes of the year 2021, I was expecting a documentary about the crucial events in the world, told in a more serious note, but as the documentary was unfolding, I saw many speakers were funny or ironical.

It was a good recap though, which can tell how different social classes think and which makes you think again about what's good or bad in the world right now.

another interesting story
29 December 2021
My quest of watching the entire series of the Harry Potter movies continued with the 3th chapter: The Prisoner of Azkaban.

With a plot that twists, some known actors but also new to the series and novel magic spells, the 3th Harry Potter movie is no different than the others, continues the story, adds to it and it's decently good. The way the students resolve the final puzzle in the end is also pretty slick.

Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban is another interesting story.

Welcome to fantasy island!
28 December 2021
What started as an ideal weekend on a tropical paradise island turns out to be too good to be true.

Lured by the idea of realizing their deepest desires, some tourists believe it to be a joke at first, but they have to see through their fantasies to the very end, while some ones' fantasies may be other ones' nightmares.

While going through the movie, the main idea and moral of the story slowly gets into shape.

Welcome to fantasy island!

Good enough
22 December 2021
I watched the first Venom movie some years ago and didn't remember much from it, but I got back to its universe pretty soon as I started watching this new one.

Decent action movie, some nice touches of inspiring drama and a few jokes that make this film just as any other modern superhero/villain movie from Marvel or DC.

Above average, not fantastic, just good enough!

decent action movie
15 August 2021
A decent action movie with famous old actors (and new), some slick lines and, all in all, a love story that creates union between two worlds (water and land).

Onto see the next one in the DC movies series.

End of a saga?
1 August 2021
I have seen only a few of the Fast&Furious series but reviewing this film's cast crew (Charlize Theron, John Cena, Gal Gadot...) , I can say it has all what it requires to be a good action Sunday movie.

Now I'm onto viewing all the Fast&Furious series from the first one to the latest, soon!

Some nice replies make the movie more enjoyable.

Now I'm about to see the rest of the series, including the most recent Snyder's Justice League.

Very thoughtful
17 July 2021
A very thoughtful documentary about how the world is governed, ruled and on where it is heading, for good or for worse.

I've seen the first movie form the Zeitgeist series many years ago and I can compare it to 'The Secret', a similar eye-opening documentary from pretty much the same time space, although Zeitgeist is darker, more realistic and more grim.

A must-see for all conspiracy theory fans, but not only!

A deep and complete view
26 June 2021
A deep and complete view on the various aspects of human spirituality and religions of the world.

And who else could be better suited to present this show other than Morgan Freeman, the 'Voice of God' from Hollywood.

A nice series, in which we could see that even if we are so different in faiths, we are much alike in the ways our faiths tell us about who God is.

A solid sequel
15 May 2021
A solid Sequel to the first part, where Batman capitalizes on what it achieved before, to confront more dangerous enemies and to leave a final blow to the crime in Gotham.

While doing this, he doesn't go away from confronting the police or even god-like heroes (Superman), if they stand in his way of moral justice and in defeating crime.

An interesting story
14 May 2021
An interesting story of an old Batman which comes back after years of retirement, alongside a much younger Robin and a Commissioner Gordon soon to retire, too.

We'll see the older version of some villains as well, by watching this movie.

A good insider
9 May 2021
A good insider to the life of referees in football.

With all the family duties and day-to-day life careers, a referee can always be blamed when a decision is against your favorite team, that's why this makes it a difficult job, more difficult than the goalkeepers in this sport.

Besides training, meeting football superstars and traveling to beautiful places around Europe and the World, a referee has to and does what's it supposed to do: take decisions.

Some dialogues make sense...
2 May 2021
Warning: Spoilers
...in this movie where we can find another version to the ending of World War one, even if a fantasy one.

Some other good points would be that I was surprised to see known actors in totally different roles, and despite some cultural clichés, it was pleasant to see how someone from an utopic society finds our misshaped world.

Years after seeing it for the first time, I didn't remember all the action, which at times was surprisingly well.

not bad
1 May 2021
Warning: Spoilers
A colorful movie in which Will Smith shows again what a great actor he is.

In the whole movie, he gradually seems to take control like he's leading the whole team.

And about the team, the villains, I've known some of them from DC and comics, some of them were similar to heroes from other sagas (maybe even copies), and all-in-all, the outlaws make up a team, with all the inherent clichés, to take the mission to success or die trying.

I've pretty liked the movie, as I just saw it for the second time, and although it has its critics, maybe I've liked it just because I was used to some characters already.

The music is well picked.

Like a dream-fight come true
30 April 2021
It is only now I have started to watch or rewatch the whole DC movie series and this film was no disappointment to me.

Maybe in earlier years we all asked ourselves who could win if two of the most known superheroes fight each other.

About the movie itself, Batman, as well as Superman, is well depicted and also truthful, I as well surprise to see Jeremy Irons playing Alfred, the butler, and the first time I saw Lex Luthor played in a film so I could remember was a pleasant encounter, even if he resembled in some moments with Batman's nemesis, the Joker.

What a great told story!
3 April 2021
A great story told about the Conquest of former Constantinople, renamed to Istanbul after fallen into the hands of the Ottoman Turks.

The ever long lasting Eastern Roman Empire led by the courageous Emperor Constantin XI Dragasses fights to survive once more against a huge army led by the young, ambitious and master tactician Mehmet II, in a battle that inspired many writers and poets since then.

This movie isn't far from truth, as it seems well documented and also well displayed as both a documentary and an artistic movie.

As a history fan, I give a 10stars rating without hesitation to this title.

A movie I have seen again after more than 10 years, it's always like a good remember of uplifting motivation, a confidence boost.

Sooner or later, everyone should watch it, but with a positive attitude and without criticism.
