Canone inverso - Making Love (2000)
The best Italian movie on love and music
I consider it one of the best movies in the history of Italian cinema. The book is very beautiful and the Director Ricky Tognazzi as been able to trasform the book in a masterpiece of cinema. You can feel love beetwen the man and the woman, and beetween friends and brothers, you can feel love for music. It's very dramatic and intense. Hans Matheson is the best actor, but Melanie Thierry is so a loving woman. All actors are very clever. It's a film that moves people towards love. Love is the centre of existence. This film is for all lovers.
Vittima della mia libertà (2018)
A strong film about bullying in schools
A strong film about bullying in schools. A denunciation of what is happening more and more in Italian schools, where bullying is becoming a trend to impose the ideas of some on the majority. The director has been able to describe this phenomenon not with a documentary but with a feature film, with actors who have acted in a very natural way, making the spectator perceive this sad reality. An intense film that transmits emotions, which pushes us to rebel to maintain our freedom to exist and to carry forward our ideas beyond what others want to impose on us. The protagonist - excellent interpretation of Elisabetta Mercadante - struggles to affirm her thirst for freedom from the conditioning of society. She wants to be and feel free, even if this will bring her great suffering. The film is also a complaint against the institutions, which sometimes, as in this film, accuse the victim and his parents of not having protected the minor daughter, so the victim's protagonist becomes a scapegoat, and the parents with her. Excellent interpretation of the protagonist's mother's interpreter: Flora Febraro. But all the very good actors should be mentioned, even those who have tried for the first time in the cinema.
The director Davide Guida demonstrates, with this film made at no cost, that you can make good films even with few means, when you do it "with passion". It recalls a little bit of the first films of neo-realism, like those of Vittorio De Sica ("Bicycle Thieves") even though the environment is not post-war misery but the misery of the lives of many, who obey the bullies for fear of being trampled.
Excellent direction, excellent actors, excellent shots, a very good job of independent cinema.
Doctor Zhivago (2002)
A masterpiece by Giacomo Campiotti
This new version of Doctor Zhivago cannot be considered a remake of David Lean's previous film. You cannot make comparisons: they are both beautiful movies, interpreted and directed very well, with beautiful scenery and music. In this version Campiotti goes more in detail, is more faithful to Pasternak's novel, and at the same time provides a new very original interpretation. It's a moving film, a film about love that prevails over the adversities of destiny.. The performances of Keira Knighteley (Lara), Hans Matheson (Yuri) and Sam Neill (Komarof) are excellent, but the other actors are really good too. The direction is very careful and precise. The ending has been changed to give hope to those who see the film. It is hope in a better future, written by the poet Zhivago, aka Pasternak. It deserves an Oscar.
