Buried Truth of the Maya (2019)
Promising, but not delivering
Just finished watching this documentary. I'm a real Maya and Aztecs buff and so I was pretty anxious to watch this. Though it was reasonably good, it gave no really new insights. Wat was absolutely disappointing was that the end was wide open. I was left with the feeling that I had to wait for episode two. Which never came...
Blood & Treasure (2019)
Really entertaining
I just watched all thirteen episodes of the first season and I must say it's really entertaining. By the way, did I mention that Sofia Pernas is really hot in this show?
It has every element of a nice TV-show: action, adventure, comedy end even some romance. The makers have succeeded to put all these elements in an attractive story. Not going to deep. Not going to light. Just the right amount of entertainment to enjoy the show. And Sofia Pernas? Man, she's really hot.
The show takes place on different locations around the world and these locations are beautiful. The acting is not very good and not very bad. Except for Sofia Pernas that is. She really convinces as the smart thief with a good heart. Who really stands out is John Laroquette who his whole carreer could play just one character. And so he does in 'Bood & Treasure' too. So a thumb down for him!
To sum it up: 'Blood & Treasure' is a really nice show. Fun to watch with some nice twists. I'm really looking forward to watch season two which is coming up in 2020.
And Sofia Pernas? Looks like she's runner up for becoming Mrs Coumans soon...
DNA (2019)
Unfortunately not wirth the effort of watching
Yes guys and girls, I really did it. I sat through all ten episodes of this first season. To be honest, I don't think there will be a second season. Why you Ask? Because there's not one episode that stnds out for good acting, good story, good camerawork or not containing any cliches.
Yolanthe, who plays the leading role of Lara Noort, is without any doubt one of the most beautiful women in Dutch showbusiness but taking on this pretty serious role of a policewoman with heaps of personal problems is simply too much for her. Yolanthe excels in simple romcoms but this role is asking too much of her.
With all the premisses it could have been an excellent show, but unfortunately it isn't end I think that's a real shame.
Castle Rock (2018)
Top notch suspense and drama
Henry Deaver, a lawyer with a bad trackrecord, receives an annonymous phonecall about a young man who has been found in a cage deep in the bowls of the Shawshank prison. Nobody knows who this young man is and the new warden of the Shawshank prison is not very eager to go public with the discovery of the young man. Deaver gets curious and decides to go and meet the found man. This is how this story, based on characters sprung from the brains of Stephen King, starts...
The show is co-produced bij Stephen King and J.J. Abrams and it shows. It is packed with a suspense en storydevelopment as only mister King can put in a chain of events. The cinematography is absolutely top notch as well as the soundtrack. But what really stands out is are the characters in this show. They're played by established actors like Melanie Lynskey, Bill Skarsgård, Scott Glenn, Sissy Spacek, Ann Cusack and Terry O'Quinn but it's André Holland who really steals the show playing Henry Deaver.
Right from the first minut you know this show is a good one. The end of every episode makes you eager to watch the next episode. Compliments to HULA for putting 'Castle Rock' on our screens to watch....
