The Other Zoey (2023)
"i'm poly"
This movie made me feel physical pain because of how hard it was to watch. The main character was probably one of the most annoying characters i've ever seen, and the acting was pretty rough. I know it was supposed to be just a fun rom-com but there was nothing fun about this. This movie made me root for no one, I was hoping all of the characters would have a sad ending. My heart ached because of how painful it was to watch, and also because people were happy at the end. Those characters did not deserve happiness. No hate, but also I was not vibing with the main actress. I think the fact that she was in the After movies ruined any possibilities of seeing her in a positive light. No hate though, all love. The cousin creeped me out as well, especially in his first scene. Also, the movie felt like it was a poorly made remake of while you were sleeping which also kind of annoyed me because I like that movie.
Giving this move a 2/10 though because the main love interest was kind of hot!
The Last of Us (2023)
So excited for the next episodes
After watching the first episode, I am absolutely blown away. I was a big fan of The Last of Us games, and I was super excited for the show to come out. The trailer looked amazing so I had high expectations going in. I think the casting for this show was amazing. Especially the actors that play Joel, Sarah, and Ellie. They did such an amazing job with really bringing the characters to life in the little screen time they have had thus far. It's so refreshing to see, especially after reading so much hate online about people being upset how the characters didn't look exactly the same as they did in the game. It's also so cool to see the new elements the show is bringing into the story, and I loved how they have expanded some of the character's stories already. Such an amazing show right off from the bat. I can't wait for next sunday!!
Thor: Love and Thunder (2022)
Enjoyable but I wish it took itself seriously
I really was looking forward to this movie since ragnarok was my favorite marvel film, and I like Taika Waititi and his work. Like several others have stated, the movie felt more like a comedy than having a lot of depth. Everytime the film began showing emotion, it would quickly break it up with jokes and such. It was funny in parts but I feel liked it sacrificed character building just for the sake of laughs. I love Valkyrie, but I am really dissapointed how they use her character mainly for comedy and they don't take her seriously. It seemed the only character that wasn't repeatedly cracking jokes was Gorr. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy when movies don't take themselves too seriously, but it ended up being too much. I wish I could have gotten to see and learn a little more about Gorr, and watch his journey as a villain. It seemed like we didn't get to see a lot from him, and it almost felt like there wasn't any serious danger throughout the film. Obviously there was, but it was covered up so much with comedy it never really left room to feel the conflict the characters were going through during the film if that makes sense. I liked the Jane storyline in this movie, and i'm not even gonna lie I even got a bit emotional during it. But I wished they could have done a little more with it because it felt a bit rushed. The entire movie kinda did, and I think there were some pacing issues. I appreciate what Waititi had done with the thor movies, and i think he considerably helped them. Although I wish the movie could've had a bit more of a serious tone, especially with the content it could've focused more on. I would definitely watch it again, it's kind of a fun watch. But it's kinda upsetting to think what they could've done with the film if it took itself a bit more seriously.
Harry Potter 20th Anniversary: Return to Hogwarts (2022)
super emotional and lovely
These movies were such a big part of my childhood, and getting to see all these actors together again was truly something special. I thought it would get boring just listening to people talk for so long but it was not like that at all. It was so fascinating to get to hear some of the stories and hear from all different kinds of people. They also showed a few behind the scenes clips during filming and more. There was also a lovely tribute to the actors who had passed. I cried throughout pretty much this entire reunion, and I would definitely recommend if you are a harry potter fan and/or you grew up watching these films as well!
Ella Enchanted (2004)
To give it anything but a 10 would be to rob it of its eminence
This movie is incredible. The star spangled packed cast brings you in, but the production and everything else keeps you locked onto the screen. I've watched this masterpiece 69,000 times and I would watch it 69,000 times more. The emotions this movie pulled from me cannot be pulled from anywhere else. I grew up watching this movie, and after 8 years I decided it was time to watch it again. It blew past all my expectations and showed how well of a film it is to entertain those of all ages. I've seen some people critique the cgi, especially that of the snake. Let me tell you this, if I saw that cgi snake in real life, I would jump out the window of my two story house and start singing "I believe I can fly" because that cgi was ahead of its time. This movie is my drug. If I could inject it like heroine, I would. I hope more people can appreciate this movie for what it is, a sensation.
The Last of Us: Part II (2020)
if you disagree ur moms a ho
To start off, the controls of the game were really nice. Also, the details and scenery were beautiful. The map was really cool, and you could explore a lot.
Was this game as good as the first? No. Was it still a good game? Yes. This game had a lot to live up to. Like many others, I loved the first game. I was not able to dodge all of the spoilers, but I still loved the game. I agree Ellie and Joel's characters had changed a little bit from the first game, yet they still were likeable. The death of the character that led to the plot was devastating, and I think this is what led many people to have a strong hate towards the game. Before they had even played it, they had strong opinions against it. That's why many of the reviews can be misleading. I think there was a really good plot with an important message at the end. You just had to have an open mind. I also can understand why people were frustrated with the ending of the game too. But I think it had a good message in the end about revenge. Nobody really wins. So if people hadn't gone in with such hot-heads, maybe they would be able to understand that the game was actually good.
