A Christmas Carol (2019)
too long and boring, strange storylines
This is a slow adaptation of the old, famous tale. Though I usually do not mind creative freedom, I now think this went too far in this movie. Characters became very different then usual and the story lacks a clear start and ending. Also several script choices gave been made that were not only unneccessary but also detract from the beauty of Dickens' tale. Do not think this is your average Scrooge movie. This is definately not a feel good film and I cannot recommend it to anyone wanting to watch a nice christmas movie.
If you like dark, disappointing movies however it may serve you well, hence 4 stars. Could have been 5 without the stupid storyline of Mary Cratchit which, imho, totally missed the boat.
The Delta Force (1986)
Surprisingly bad, even for an 80-ies movie
I like movies from the previous century. However, there's great movies, there's ok-ish movies and there's rubbish. Now I gave 3 stars because this movie is not yet as much trash as the regular steven seagal crap is, but yet the viewer is considered to have an IQ of a peanut here.
The action was just a little quicker as that of "Dad's army", but not much. Every boring cliché was in here. And effects were quite over the top.
And seriously ... setting up an aluminium plateau with 4 ladders in the middle of the enemies building and no-one hears the noise?
Besides this, most of the actors have an emotional expression of a 6 year old.
Come on.
No Time to Die (2021)
2 stars for the sceneries, the rest sucks.
Can be short on this. This is no Bond. It does not even remotely feel or look like they James Bond did in the better days of the franchise. Too long, to much feelings, too woke, wáááy too woke, lack of fun and catchy oneliners, and...
Really... retiring, having a child and getting killed? 3 things that don't belong in a Bond movie.
Screw you, Eon!
The Letter for the King (2020)
Yet another hollywood ruined story
First the positive.. the photography is breathtaking beatiful.
Unfortunately that's all i can say in positive. Yes it's not like the book. Films based on books rarely are. And I can be ok with that, but...
But is it really, really necessary the put all politicall correctness right in front of the viewer? A dark main character ( which is not a a bad thing, but in middle ages, knights with dark wives and adopted dark sons in western knighthood? Come.on... ) . And then.. a queen? What purpose does this change serve other than political correctness? And the other youngsters... ah, of course, also the asian, and woman...
And than that stupid fantasy stuff. I love a good knightsmovie, but that stupid fantasystuff ruins many of them.
I enjoyed this one.
Star Trek: Discovery (2017)
Sorry... just let go.
This incarnation of Star Trek has many things a scifi series could show. However it has very little of what a Star Trek series should show..
Apart from that, After having seen all episodes of this season there's nothing left than a huge pile of disappointment. The series is full of unnecessary twists and plotlines and totally lacks the feeling of ease and comfort other series were able to give in between the exciting parts. The main difference for me is that in other series I was able to identify with the crew. This was not possible with Discovery. Also after the final eposide it feels rattled off.
And please... please... stop putting all political correct issues in 1 series. That is so not necessary as well.
Star Trek: Discovery: Will You Take My Hand? (2018)
WTF? Where did the story go?
This final episode (at least of this season, though they'ld better keave it at this) is disturbingly disappointing. Some dull talking... Klingons suddenly come to reason because of someone with a remote control (Really, no one carried a disintegrator? Not even later on at any moment?), The war ends, everybody happy, gasp. And what about that time difference?
This so looks like the lasts few lines that HAD to be finished before dinner and the writers simply did not feel like in anymore.
Total disappointment, But in that way it ís a worthy closing of the rest of the series.
Star Trek: Discovery: The War Without, the War Within (2018)
first a universe difference and now a time difference, really?
This episode explodes in a set of illogical and unnecessary storylines. The choice of Gergiou to be promoted to captain of discovery makes so little sense it hurts the brain. This is beyond phantasy. It's just plain silly and stupid. Period.
Star Trek: Discovery: The Wolf Inside (2018)
Still ridiculous stroy
Only 1 way to save the rest of the season... cut the parallel universe crap asap and get back to a 'normal' storyline. The way it is here is totally unbelievable. 1 star because of the ridiculous story (and still copied idea from star trek original). Besides that there are so many loose ends in this episode (as in most of them) that it is to cry for. Burnham can talk freely with Lorca out of his jail for a moment? Nobody else tries to take Burnhams place? Earlier it was said that everyone tries to improve at the cost of others. How easy it is to just shoot Burnham in the back. And than the kill of Culbers....
No.... pity I can't rate zero stars.
Star Trek: Discovery: Despite Yourself (2018)
Shameless copy
What a shameless copy of episode 'Mirror, Mirror' from the original series. I did kind a like the start of the series, but stories are heading in a way strange and totally unbelievable direction.
I don't know what the writers are smoking/drinking, but please send some of that stuff to us?
Star Trek: Discovery: Magic to Make the Sanest Man Go Mad (2017)
Incredibly bad and illogical episode.
To be honest, I do not dislike this Startrek series at all. It is entertaining, even though it does not do any right to the feeling of the previous star trek incarnations.
Hoever with this particular episode some many things were wrong... At first... Going back in time.... really... and over and over again.... I mean. I do dislike the illogical things connected to this idea in the first place. It makes no sense, cannot and and will never happen and never ever makes a good story. And what happened to the dear general, captured by klingons in the previous episode? Not a single second this episode refers to that or takes action on it? And then the building of awareness through the time lapses by Burnham and the others... Even though they are reset in time as well.
No, this is 1 big flawed episode full of story f*ckups and with a stupid time concept. This is not even B-class, this is no class at all.
Pompei, ieri, oggi, domani (2007)
sense of recognition
In general an entertaining movie, though definitely not great. However a strange feeling of deja vu possessed me when watching. It seemed to me like some story parts have been borrowed from great titles like Spartacus and Ben Hur.
Also to obvious sometimes the city parts (like the arena for example) look a bit fake. The acting is average, sometimes below average. The relationships between slaves and Romans sometimes look a bit unhistorical.
However, the great pictures of the Vesuvius volcano lift things back to a more entertaining level. This movie is nice for an evening of uncomplicated watching. If you don't expect too much, you may appreciate this one.
