3 Body Problem: Judgment Day (2024)
Great episode except..
Really enjoying the show so far but it jumped the shark a bit this episode. Feels like a different person wrote half this episode to make it gruesome as possible and desperate to include that invisible wire net screen. I have a strong stomach for this stuff but was mega uncomfortable with that ship scene and the boat being full of kids.
I think part of my shock it is suddenly the good guys completely lost the plot and set up the most elaborate, over complicated and out of character situation when other options could have been taken.
Why did they need to kill everyone on board with the wire net? I'm so confused.. they already established they had access to a warship as Wade clearly has pull with the navy and Raj is captain of a brand new warship? If they really wanted to include the wire for some reason to link it with auggies countdown why would they destroy the entire ship that way, not have any intel of the occupants when they already shown they have drones of some sort they followed Jin with last episode.
Auggie and Raj seemed pretty chill about just killing all those kids and other people out of nowhere.
The whole wire net in the canal plan seemed like the most complicated to set up and a public relations nightmare situation, couldn't it have happened at sea?
Maybe some story reason they needed to take that radar dish out covertly, Wire pulled by ships to take it out and cripple The boat or something? It goes wrong somehow asbad guys hit back throw off aim and they get to show the gruesome end to the ship they really wanted? I would have just skipped the gruesome killing of everyone on board personally and had the ship sink rather then cut everyone to bits and good guys just shrug and get on with it.
3 Body Problem: Our Lord (2024)
Enjoying show but characters make odd choices..
Again loving the show but they seem to make some bizarre decisions with it and people go totally out of character.
So wade and Da shi really establish they know what they are doing in this episode. They recruit Jin to go undercover and spy for them after the death of Jack all fair enough as she's both interested to find out what's going on and get revenge for Jack.
It's all going well, she infiltrated the group shocked to learn about Ye Wenjie being leader of the group, the authorities/army/MI5 it's never explained who it is pounce and come in to arrest everyone but here is where I think it went a little odd.
Why did they come in now? Surly they could have listened in a bit longer to find out what is going on seemed like they jumped the gun.
Why did they Blow Jin's cover like that so publicly? I'm no secret agent but surely you protect your agent? They didn't secure everyone before extracting her despite having the drop on the situation.
They way I would have done it is have them come in at the end of the meeting after finding out all they could, Ye wenjie tells everyone to "sit it's all part of the plan"
They secure the situation and start to lead everyone out in handcuffs including Jin who is taken same as everyone else (agents maintaining her cover), Tatiana could have escaped during all this with some of her security/alarmed cultists. She overhears a flustered Jin saying I'm not one of them asking for De Shi isn't a trained agent and realises she was a spy tries to free Ye wenjie causing a similar scene and getting shot trying to take out Jin escaping injured in the chaos of her agents attacking she crawls away.
It's not a major change but feels it wouldn't have better maintained the secret agent vibe if the experts hadn't blurted out "let's get you out of here" in front of the bad guys and would have secured everyone before they did so rather than letting a room full of armed "civilians" get the drop of them.
3 Body Problem: Destroyer of Worlds (2024)
Enjoying show but characters make odd choices..
I'm hooked loving it but I really couldn't see Jack leaving Jin like that.
Surely would have been better writing if Jack had been unhappy with the situation and refusing to believe in aliens, tried to talk Jin out of it and disrupting conversation, Tatiana says "no hard feelings your both free to leave if you want but Jin think your interested" hands Jin the invite.
Jack and Jin argue on way home but Jin agrees with him to keep him happy with every intention of going on her own. Both go separate ways and Tatiana turns up at Jacks the same way and kills him.
This just feels that a simple way of keeping the same ending without Jack abandoning his friend with a strange woman in a scary situation he doesn't seem the sort so far to do this.
Quantum Leap (2022)
Did they even watch the original
Original actor Scott Bakula refuses to be involved after Dean Stockwell died last year which is a shame would have made it so much better.
Despite this they not helping themselves though:
They got rid of the old sound effects completely. Should have kept leap sound effect, the mirror noise when he saw reflection, ziggy and hologram window noise.
Got rid of theme tune completely what's that about?
Feels a bit rushed just jumps right into story with no build up and little explanation. Feels like it was made by someone who just saw a synapsis of the series rather than grew up watching it.
I like how they bring Sam and Al's name into the story don't just write them out.
I'm 3 episodes in so far seems like loads of opportunity to turn it back around but I fear it'll go a season and then get cancelled.
I get they want to reboot it to a modern audience bit just doesn't feel like it's reaching them.
What would make it work for me would be:
Bring back the damn theme tune! Even if you modernise it.
Bring back the sound effects! Come on we need those Ziggy beeps!
Do what you can to get Scott Bakula's Sam back in season finale for a team up with Ben.
They just keep making these old shows but taking out the hits that we loved so much.
The Predator (2018)
Deducted extra star because of the ending
I was waiting for Apple to repair my phone so and to see this film, it's really not very good but did kill a few hours so I'd give it a 5/10 for the action and I had nothing better to do.
Story is just all over the place and makes little sense. Predator kills everyone instantly but somehow the main characters can go toe to toe with it despite being ill equipped and off guard, giant indestructible alien dogs that get shot in the head, suddenly mentally become puppy's wanting to play fetch and turn up from nowhere several times with just the right item in mouth.
The ending truely takes the biscuit, it is clearly trying to set up a sequel but I can only compare it to Sharknado level of story and acting and expect it on the sci-fi channel not the cinema.
Great news my phone was ready when it finished!
