Archetypes: The Demystification of Dragon Lady with Margaret Cho (2022)
Markle speaks to hear her own voice...
MM likes to start every podcast telling you how awesome she is and then spends the rest of the podcast comparing herself to the people who have spend a lifetime making a name for themselves. While I care not for Cho's writing or shows, she has worked hard. That is something that MM does not do, except when it comes to crafting an overly long introduction about herself. This podcast seems to have been created to help MM network with people that she wishes she was, and that is sad. A true feminist goes out and does the work that it takes to get the happiness they want...they do not try to mooch talent from others. Spare yourself (see what I did there?)
Archetypes: The Duality of Diva with Mariah Carey (2022)
Ignore those 10/10 ratings!
This is the second podcast that I have listened to on the subject of archtypes, but this one is nowhere near as good as the other one I listened to.
That podcast actually listed archetypes and how we can figure out which one we are and use the infomation to make better choices.
This is chit chat with no real archetypes. The host has clearly chosen people that she wants to chat with but while the guests are amazing people, the host is only there to talk about herself and her very limited number of accomplishments. Or worse, to pretend that she is as successful as people who have been working for decades to build their careers. This content is insulting.
Archetypes: The Misconception of Ambition with Serena Williams (2022)
This is truly dreadful
Do not fall for those 10/10 reviews - they are from the Sussex fan club and do not reflect the truth.
I agree with a previous reviewer that this is self-indulgence on the part of the host disguised at motivational help for women.
Markle seems to think her limited life experience as a suitcase girl makes her the ultimate feminist, but with every episode she shows us that her only concern is to speak over every guest and present her opinion as fact.
A true feminist is concerned with helping elevate other women, like Serena does but Markle does not. MM is more concerned with elevating herself.
Batman Ninja (2018)
Beautiful to watch
This is by the most beautiful animated super hero movie I have ever seen. It is gorgeous.
There are several different art styles within this movie, so one minute you are watching a blast of color and then next everything is muted and mellower. It's fun.
The plot is crazy super hero stuff, but it is still a good story and I learned a few things about feudal Japan, so plus plus. I am not a DC geek, so I was glad to get lots of backstory about some of the characters which made it easier to follow along.
Murder House Flip (2020)
They do not actually flip the house...
When I first saw this listed I wanted to watch it, but it is not quite what it says it is.
It is a reno show, not a flip show. They are not buying murder houses and then flipping them. Instead, they reno a room or area for the home owners who, as far as I know, keep their newly decorated home. So not a flip.
It is fun to see people who live in a murder house talk about their experiences and weird vibes, and that is the best part of this show.
The actual reno part is short and not as much fun, as the hosts mostly talk about what they want to do and then you see a reveal.
The Dead Don't Die (2019)
This should have been a better movie
I was looking forward to a new zombie movie but this wasnt it. Much as I like dry humor I found this movie lacking in every other area. I did enjoy multiple references to multiple other movies so that was fun. I think this movie gets better with repeated rewatches. Idk I am still deciding on that
The Walking Dead (2010)
Every new season makes a great concept into an even larger pile of garbage
After the season 8 mid-season finale, I do not care about this show anymore.
Jeffrey Dean Morgan is the wrong actor to play Negan. Too old and scrawny, and not nearly as menacing as his comic character is.
Killing off great characters and bringing in creepy weirdos is just plain wrong.
As well, picking off good actors to prop up the other Kirkman zombie show is a waste. That show sucks so bad and they will not kill off the one character who is ruining it...Madison.
I think Kirkman is letting this stuff happen because he wrote these storylines years ago and is probably happy to switch things up, but it is ruining this show.
They should take a page from iZombie or Ash vs Evil Dead as lessons in how to entertain people using the undead as a backdrop.
Mother! (2017)
Very enjoyable once you know the story Aronofsky is telling!
I am shocked by all the long winded reviews by people who tell us flat out that they do not understand what is going on.
I admit that I was not paying attention to the story in the beginning because I was so put off by JLaws appearance (Mother!) and how young she looks compared to her partner (Him), however this is key to the story.
I was also a bit turned off by the next two characters to appear (Man, Woman) in the movie, which is when I figured out what story Aronofsky was telling. And this was confirmed by the arrival of the next two characters (Oldest Son, Younger Brother).
For anyone who still has not figured it out ***SPOILERS***,
Aronofsky is telling a synopsis of the Christian bible. From the book of Genesis, it starts with the creation (Him + Mother (mother earth), Adam and Eve (Man and woman, and their children Cain and Abel), the flood (destruction of the house which causes Mother to be covered in water), and the progressive chaos in the world; moving into the New Testament, we see the birth of the Saviour and his subsequent death, then the apocalypse and the final destruction of creation and the rebirth of creation (with a new mother earth) as described in The Book of the Revelation.
I am sorry that so many people did not get this movie, and that just shows where we are in the world that so few recognize what is being shown to them, however that is also part of the prophecy of the bible, that people would follow false gods because they do not recognize the Truth. Once you do see it, it becomes a puzzle to solve, only deciding which parts of the bible are in the movie as you continue to watch it.
My first real clue to what was going on was the injury to Man's rib area that we see when he is in the bathroom. My suspicions were confirmed by the two brothers fighting over their inheritance, which is the classic story of Cain and Abel.
I agree that this movie is a psychological horror film to those who do not understand the underlying story.
