Ahsoka (2023)
CGI was good, end of positive commentary
Beside Rosario Dawson, casting was awful. Casting must have been by a Harvey Weinstein wannabe with young pretty talentless women in roles calling for depth of character.
The script must have been written during a writer's strike by talentless hacks. There are thoroughly unoriginal SciFi tropes throughout, from Dr Who, Star Trek
I grew up enamored with the first Star Wars movies, and started to be disappointed with Return of the Jedi. Most of the productions since then, series and movies, have been a disappointment. Andor was good, Ahsoka is awful.
Among the many problems:
- The makeup on most aliens looks like a five year old did it while raiding mommies bathroom unsupervised.
- The whole thing seems to be only for undiscerning kids like the animated series.
- The soundtrack tries to do what a laugh track does for bad sitcoms, guide the viewer when they're lost from lack of good story and acting.
The Night Agent (2023)
Casting mishaps
Hong chau is great in other things but TERRIBLE in this. It would be much better with someone else.
VP Redfield could be cast much better too.
Otherwise very good.
Suspense is good.
You're made to hate the bad guys, feel sorry for the innocent bystanders, and cheer for the protagonists.
The plot seems more than plausible.
The President's role is well written, cast, and acted; Peter and Rose also.
Secret service roles are perfectly cast , written and acted. I especially love that Amenadiel is a hero protecting the president and the VPs daughter.
There are a few sore spots in the plot, but those are not nearly as problematic as the bad casting.
Love, Victor: Spring Fling (2020)
I'm not crying. You're crying.
Even though I could predict almost everything, it was handled so beautifully that a rating of 10/10 somehow doesn't seem adequate.
Criminal Minds: Elliott's Pond (2016)
Weakest show yet for this disappointed fan
This is not the only episode with a far-fetched plot with the characters having epiphanies out of nowhere with the exact far-fetched plot, all with the aim of sappy reunions at the end. But this one has a double with the announced departure of Hotch after his absence from prior episodes with the weakest story I've ever heard. Honestly, it sounds worse than any first grader explaining a missed assignment.
Did people behind the scenes leave with Thomas Gibson and Shemar Moore?
I like the character development with Penelope, playing off of Luke. But the return of Emily Prentiss makes me wish I'd stopped binge-watching after the 11th season.
