Sekushî boisu ando robo (2007)
A 14 year old middle schooler and a 24 year old robot otaku team up as spies, taking on one crazy case after another.
I'll admit I was skeptical about this show. I thought that there was no way that it could be good at all. I'm happy to report that I was wrong. Each episode, supposedly, has an important life lesson to be learned, be it friends are forever, it's never to late to set things right, and of course, love, love, love. The word itself is enough of an explanation. I'm not going to lie though, if it wasn't for Ken'ichi Matsuyama as Robo, the show wouldn't have been half as good. Ken'ichi plays robot otaku Sudou, who goes by the nickname Robo. Every episode he cries/screams/acts childish, etc. Point is, he's hilarious, and the fact that he's adorable helps, too.
The character Niko, Sexy Voice, is like any adorable Asian middle schooler, at least she was in the beginning. As the show progresses, she learns the lessons to be taught and grows more mature, and is able to see the world in a different way than she did before. Her talent is the ability to manipulate 7 varieties of voices, and distinguish between them in a crowd, and even hear someones voice from a half mile away (if they're screaming). **SPOILER** I was very disappointed with the end. The spy boss decided to pack up and travel, so Niko and Robo had no need to deploy and take spy jobs anymore. The day the boss leaves we see them walking together in a park, when Niko gets a phone call and tells Robo that she'll see him tomorrow. The voice over explains that they didn't meet again, and the last time Niko saw Robo was leaning on a wall, staring at the stars. She didn't even try to talk to him (she said that she couldn't find her voice), and they never saw each other again. Then the show was over.
So basically, Sexy Voice and Robo is a very good show on the whole, but the end wasn't so great. It's a good choice for relaxing and a laugh.
