The Ingress Tapes (2017)
Creepy experimental Super-8 thriller
For a short film, this is surprisingly creepy and disturbing. Using what appears to be 'found footage' of landscapes and train journeys shot on grainy super-8 film, The Ingress Tapes tells a story of psychopathy, deceit and multiple murders. Stylistically it reminds me of the filmic psychogeographies of Patrick Keiller or William Raban but with added mayhem. I would like to see a collaboration between Fausti and Burial sometime soon.
Although this piece deals with some horrifying events and crimes (I'm still not sure if they are real or not), it is rich in dark comedy and gallows humour with some fabulous one- liners that I have been quoting since.
Try to see this film and work out if it is a documentary or a fiction. I only hope its a fiction as I would not want the narrator to be walking the streets today.
