The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills (2010)
Where should I start from.
I've watched season 1, these people low key can't tolerate each other but have business going on so they go out and say 'We'll have fun'' with a dead look.
I think these women (some of them) are capable, but have been raised to think they should only care for their looks and be housewives. They are sexist, whoever wrote, directed this is sexist, I like how they are introduced to as by letting us know what their husbands have done.
It is entertaining because you can't believe these people exist, so ignorant. But after a while it becomes tiring. Interesting show to watch if you want to learn about entitlement.
I feel like Kim and Taylor are the most down to earth and likeable, if you ignore the fact that someone feels the need to buy diamonds for their 4 year old daughter.
Kyle and the british lady are the ones deciding what everyone does.
The way everyone raises their kids in this show like they are the centre of the world solve the question on how rich people can be so entitled.
Never Have I Ever (2020)
First episodes weird, but then it gets good.
At first it seems like a copy of Sex Education, but after you get used to it it has its own story and becomes hilarious. And Andy Samberg also adds to it.
The Invisible Man (2020)
Very good movie, to the point you decide to ignore the plot holes.
I liked the direction, the setting, the dark-ish aesthetics, the cat was very good, everything came naturally.
I wasn't a big fan of the plot, but it surprised me in a positive way, because I was expecting something idfferent.
Some part didn't make sense, like the simplicity of the invention, the fact that she hides her uniform in the bathroom, he gets in there, sees the uniform, yet he doesn't suspect anything the last time he sees her. Unless it was the brother that entered the bathroom while she was at their house.
I don't understand how she went to his house after all this without being scared? How they both pretended to have a civilised dinner?
The way he easily manipulated her sister with the email, the sister was angry, yet accepted to have dinner with her..too easy.
100% Hotter (2016)
Sexism, irony, hypocrisy
So, the setup is fake looking, the opinions of people seem staged.
Sometimes they make people do things without purpose (giving flowers to strangers, or walking down the street looking old photos of themselves). And magically, people change personality after doing these purposeless things.
Many times the team and the people on the street say sexist things, like on episode 2 season 1, when they told Khloe Khan she dresses to be liked by men and not women. To whoever scripted this, women can have friendships and don't necessarily compete.
We had other nice cliches, like you attract the wrong kind of attention, this haircut is not for an old lady, you wear provoking clothes, etc.
They took Kim Woodburn and ruined her style, made her look like Inspector Gadget.
I didn't like Khloe Khan's style, but what they did to her was equally without taste.
The only person they did well was Pamela looking-like woman.
The makeup artist has greasy skin, orange cheeks yet judges other peoples' makeup. She judged Khloe for her lashes, but we can clearly see Mel's lashes too.
The stylist wears clothes too huge for her, on episode two looked like a bee and Jack Sparrow. It's like fabric wears her, not like she wars fabric.
The hair stylist had same hair with Pamela look alike, yet considered her hair weird.
The team are good people and skilled just can't incorporate the style to the person. And they laugh when they hear bad ratings. Maybe it's their way of taliing, but I don't think they are meant for vogue either.
The Haunting of Hill House (2018)
Cozy but also horror.
Noone:
Haunting of Hill House parent: -Kid, it's ok to be sad about the dead. Look at the casket. Look at the casket!!!!!
The series seems to be inspired of six feet under and the (amazing) intro reminds me of Westworld.
It's a great series, nice cast that makes you feel familiar, nice image, music, really cozy with a great amount of horror! It's the best to watch at winter, with a hot beverage.
Girlboss (2017)
Sad there will be no season 2.
I like it, I liked the cast, it was a cozy show, funny, nice content.
When the model talked about dating with a millionaire, first thing that came to my mind haring this word, was a man.
Also, when they hired a web developer to make the site, my default was to think of a man. Surprised both times, so it's good to remember that you can always learn something new, even when you didn't think you were thinking streotypically.
Secret Obsession (2019)
Meh, but not lost my time
Not a goooood movie for sure, but I enjoyed watching it. There were areas of improvement, but I like it, it kept me interested.
O Negócio (2013)
Well executed, nice content
I like the fact that it isn't just a comedy, well directed, with good cast, music and everything, but that it touches things like politics, history, social phenomenons.
While there is a bad reality to prostitution and trafficking, I don't think this show promotes these. Just promotes that there is hypocrisy involved with sex and how while there is demand from certain people, the same people could be the ones to judge sex workers.
The first season was great, but I think from the second it starts to become even more funny. It is as good as any US show.
Insecure (2016)
I approve
It's like sex and the city to me. Not literally, since it may be shallow to compare these. Insecure has more of informative vibe to many social prejudices and it is completely different, but it has this woman everyday life touching relationships, work etc that I enjoy watching. This is what I mean, other than that I do't think these two are similar to compare. I hope it never ends, or takes many years before this happens.
Disenchantment (2018)
It has good jokes
I enjoy the images, story, the music and the characters. It has nice jokes and irony, I didn't like though the jokes about being married woman and indecisive, as I think perpetuates the stereotype of 'women don't know what they want'.
The Heat (2013)
It was one of the few comedies that kept me laughing
I enjoyed the movie, usually with comedies there are a few lines that make me laugh, in this I was laughing the whole time. The only thing I didn't like was the albino jokes, because they were offensive in my opinion.
I don't want to be preoccupied, but I was waiting to see a good review, came here and saw this rating. While movies portraying Jason Statham doing exactly what these ladies were are considered normal, seeing a woman swear apparently is uncomfortable to some. Also, on all these hardcore drug movies, Breaking bad, people were holding gun to innocents laughing, no one was bothered. I don't exclude people actually not liking the movie for other reasons, but maybe they were expecting to see princesses combing their hair to be saitsfied.
To Be a Miss (2016)
Feel sorry for those women
Ok first of all they emphasize on how difficult it is to enter beauty contests.. If you think the requirements they have, yes it is difficult, but it s not like it requires mental effort.. Good genes mainly.
I felt sorry for the girls/women, especially with the creepy guy who would be a 'sponsor'..This was similar to human trafficking, the woman was exploited..
So if you think about the abuse/dark side of this, yes it is difficult facing these.
If someone wants to have plastic surgery or enter beauty contest if they want to, why no..But they present it like it is something important. It is like 10 minutes of fame, then what?
Three Wives, One Husband (2014)
What about equality?
I liked the show, obviously it was somehting new for me to watch. I get the slightest feeling that there may have been a tiny attempt to look happier and not conservative from the women. I respect polygamy if someone wishes to do so, but when only one member of the relationship has the benefits, it is quite unsettling to me. The kids seem to grow up in loving environments, but I am wondering wether they have an opportunity to join society later int heir lives.
Kedi (2016)
Makes me want to travel to Instanbul
Very nice images in this film, and the stories about all these good people taking care of cats were worth watching.
Mother! (2017)
I like half of the movie
I'm not sure if this had a feminist or eco friendly message, in both cases good for them for pointing this out.
Mother's Day (2016)
Perpetuating stereotypes
There were some fun parts but I was disappointed because:
Those awkward jokes about feeling awkward about period when it;s something normal, making women feel bad about thir bodies.
The 'miserable' business woman becomes happy only when she meets her daughter. (perpetuating the stereotype of a woman being fulfilled only by motherhood).
It was mentioned that only mothers know how to take care of children best, which is wrong.
The good parts were the messages about racism and the lesbian couple.
Blockers (2018)
It was just an insult
Even if the movie actually makes a referral to women sex lives being treated differently than mens' (which was good), it still sticks to the cliches. What do I mena by cliches? That the first man is something important for a woman's life which is compltely b*$$ S*(^.
