The Late Bloomer (2016)
Fell for the trailer. Don't let the trailer rob you.
Epic failure. The movie's premise had so much potential. I cringe just thinking how the end result turned out to be.
If you are looking for a comedy, this is not it. I didn't laugh once the entire movie. Poor performances, except for J.K Simmons, lame and generic screenplay. Jokes are not funny. This movie is trash. Please do not watch it. Wish I could give a zero, no option on this site though. Not exaggerating.
I have noticed a common trend in movies like this, Neighbors 2, Bad Moms, Horrible Bosses 2, Mike and David Need Wedding Dates, is that they rely heavily on dick jokes, overuse cringe comedy, awkward situations and characters, seriously who are the writers and directors, I want to throw tomatoes at them. Crap after crap after crap. This movie was the last straw.
Seriously guys, this is garbage. I regret watching this. Only good thing about this movie is J.K Simmons, everything else is trash.
Jawani Phir Nahi Ani (2015)
What were they thinking!?!?!?
I didn't have much expectations from the start. I went in with zero expectations and this film still disappointed me.
Most of the scenes are copied by Bollywood films. No originality. Vulgar. And I wouldn't have the problem if it had made any sense. Films like these are not needed for the revival of Pakistani cinema. Humanyun Saeed does well, because he is a good actor. Ahmed Ali Butt is funny. And so is Hamza Ali Abbasi. The female leads are wasted. Vasay Chaudry disappoints. Overall, despite production values, and cheap humor, this is a forgettable experience. I really hope a meaningful Pakistani film comes out, which doesn't try to copy Bollywood, and use vulgarity as USP to attract audiences. The acting of the female leads are cringe worthy. Mehwish and Soha do poorly, and rely on looks to impress, and fail.
Ae Dil Hai Mushkil (2016)
A bit disappointed....
When ADHM was announced I was extremely excited. Not just was the movie directed by Karan Johar, but Ranbir Kapoor one of the most talented actors in the Hindi film industry was the hero of the film. My excitement and anticipation grew more and more as the trailer and songs released.
So having such high expectations is what ruined the film for me. If you are expecting a love story of the decade or an amazing film, you are in for a huge shock.
Starting off with the good points of the film. Perhaps the best thing about ADHM are the performances in particular Ranbir Kapoor who gave an honest and earnest performance. Anuksha Sharma gives the best performance of her career. Aishwariya Rai is natural and charismatic. And Fawad Khan, who unfortunately doesn't give much scope much to my and others dismay delivers masterclass acting in the few scenes he is in. The next good thing of the movie is the cinematography, and locations, both beautiful. The music is really good, but not great as it was anticipated to be. Bulleya is the best out of the track.
So what fails in ADHM, everything else. The screenplay is as it seems to be inspired and copied by various films, such as Rockstar, the Fault in our Stars, and others, and is generic as the rom coms we see each year. The direction is mediocre at best Karan Johar gets very little credit as the actors themselves saved the film. KAran Johar relies way to much on quantity rather than quality. Some scenes are so annoying and pathetic, that they make you cringe from inside.
ADHM is a disappointment. Its unfortunate to see the talent of good actors wasted in such a pathetic film. If you are a Ranbir Kapoor fan, you can watch this for his sake, as he delivers a phenomenal performance. Fawad Khan fans, this isn't his film he literally only has 10 minute screen time altogether not worth enduring this torture of a movie.
PROS The lead performances, especially Ranbir Kapoor make up for a terrible film The songs are good The film has a good pace Fawad Khan stand outs in the few scenes he is in Cameos are good.
CONS No originality Direction could have been better Screenplay is mediocre, and generic
