Star Trek: Deep Space Nine: Explorers (1995)
Absolute Nonsense
What a stupid ship.
Oh yeah we have build an ancient spaceship . With full life support and a fancy sailing ship design.
It's the biggest nonsense I've seen for some time.
Star Trek: Deep Space Nine: Armageddon Game (1994)
Deadlyish Harvester
It's kind of silly in the end the evil virus bio weapon infects Miles and it takes about 2 minutes for a well equipped medbay to fix him. It doesn't appear to be contagious either and has a pretty slow kill time .
Basically we had more dangerous bio weapons available on earth in the 50s
Still it's scary enough to kill over to stop anyone else ever figuring out this really complex weapon ..
These little inconsistencies ruin a fairly decent episode.
Finding 'Ohana (2021)
Goonies but without the fun
Its Goonies except it's dull and has no bad guys, no interesting characters and no real adventure . So it's just 4 kids walking through a cave for a bit.
Man vs Bee (2022)
Its weird and pointless
Not by words but those of my 9 year old . I do agree though .
Its all really predictable and nothing interesting happens . Its just 10 minutes of somebody failing to be intelligent or funny .
Prospect (2018)
Dads dead . Oh well.
Lets not even feel anything at all and make friends with his murderer. Then off we go on an adventure. Fun times. Just seems bizarre. Why was the whole Dad murder needed.
Star Trek: Voyager: Lineage (2001)
Nonsense
Remember in the season before this when B'lanna went on the barge of the dead and reconnected with her dead mum and decided she needed to reconnect with her Klingon heritage going forward.
Then this garbage is the next time she mentions being Klingon.
Star Trek: Voyager: Barge of the Dead (1999)
And it was never mentioned again
B'elanna learns to embrace her Klingon side because she doesn't want her mom to go to hell.
She ends up deciding to embrace her Klingon side.
She doesn't change
And then it's never mentioned again.
Star Trek: Voyager: Nothing Human (1998)
Moral dilemma ?
My child is sick and dying .
A vaccine is developed by an evil man who only discovered the cure by killing me.
Would I want my child saved by this mans research . Or to let my child die.
Knowledge is neither evil or good.
At one point seven asks why the Borg are hated and the hologram isn't ...
The crew constantly use sevens borg knowledge and equipment with no objections despite the obvious issues with the borg as a species and the manner that the borg acquired that knowledge.
Still a good episode though because my conclusion is different to some of the voyager staff doesn't make me right and them wrong.
Interesting that Torres is willing to give up her own life but Paris is not willing to sacrifice her.
Would she be so quick to dismiss the research if it was Paris in peril. Self sacrifice is often easier than sacrificing your loved ones.
Star Trek: Voyager: Displaced (1997)
It's Cold in here
Very quickly it's established that the aliens are effected badly by cold weather and bright light .
The crew adjust the voyager environmental controls to help them
If only 1 of the crew where bright enough to change them back once they realised it was an invasion....
Or you know ,set the controls to -40 or something .
Or activate the auto destruct sequence ( It's not like the aliens had deactivated the secondary command conduit , the single point of failure for this function .... )
The aliens motivation for stealing voyage seems to be so that they can steal it. They already have a way cooler ship capable of supporting far more lifeforms than they are. But there main use of this huge ship is to hold all there lower tech prisoners.
Of course the security on the alien ship is awful. Tuvak cracks there security by looking at the control panel in an unknown language and obviously types in the word "password" in alien as within 10 button pushes he is through their security.
It's just one of those episodes where someone has an idea that could be a good story and then takes their brain out.
Star Trek: Voyager: The Q and the Grey (1996)
Janeway is so Dumb again
Janeway this week decides " We are not looking for a short cut we are going to get home with hard work "
What an idiot. Also pretty sure this goes against everything she has ever said before.
This time the price asked for a trip home is far less than the last time and effects only Janeway .
So the usually self sacrificing Janeway decides she is definitely not interested and her actions nearly destroy the universe .
After they get lucky and are saved at the last moment by the crew of the voyager . They go on there merry way . Forgetting to ask for a lift home. Probably because it wouldn't be hard work enough to satisfy Janeway ...
Star Trek: Voyager: Alliances (1996)
Traveling Very Slowly
How do we keep running into the same people . Are they constantly chasing us ?
Two seasons in and despite the fact we are supposed to be heading in a single direction and heading home.
We seem destined to encounter the same kazon .
This week we find the slave owners and immediately forgive them and form an alliance with them .
Janeway will admit the trabe are virtually slave owners.. but only virtually so let's get on with it .
Shockingly the Trabe turn out to still be awful .
Still on with the slow crawl through the neverending Kazon space.
Star Trek: Voyager: Twisted (1995)
Paris is the worst
Neelix gets jealous when another guy buys his partner an expensive personal gift .
Kes being two but exceptionally wise notices.
In the next episode we find out Paris is in love with Kes.
Paris is the worst.
One of Us Is Lying (2021)
Infruraiting
The adults are supposed to be portraying high school kids but police officers immediatly do one on one interviews with them.
They call for paramedics and then hang up rather than staying on the line .
The girl gets detention for a mobile phone ringing in her bag and argues with the teacher because it's not her phone and she has no interest in having the phone back but the teacher is obviously an idiot that has never confiscated a phone before ( no teenager gives up her phone that easily )
And the teenager just meekly takes the detention and dosent instantly contact a parent to resolve the issue.
It's just garbage for the first 20 minutes and then I stopped watching.
The Legend of Vox Machina (2022)
It's not big or clever
I like swearing . But this program swears like a 10 year old that's just discovered swearing . Theres no nuance ,it's not clever . It's just spray the word F+ck into every sentence . It makes every character come across as as one dimensional idiots that defining characteristic is that they swear a lot . The rest of the plot is drowned by it .
You don't have to swear In every sentence to entertain adults or to prove you are for adult viewers . In fact much like the 12 year old that things swearing makes them sound grown up it has the opposite effect.
