Day 9 (2013)
This movie's got heart
I saw this film and it really has a lot of heart and is a great story. It's a low-budget film and when you watch it it's obvious that the filmmakers didn't have much money, if any at all, to put behind this. But once engaged in the film it didn't matter that the production wasn't perfect. This movie's got a nice take on a zombie flick.... in a market that is over saturated with typical run of the mill Zombie movies. Some of those mid-level or big budget films aren't very good anyways.
I think it's worth it to give this film a shot, whether you see it at a festival screening or if Tom Ryan, the director, ever makes it available on DVD. It's really a great effort and has a good twist at the end. I hope the director gets the ability to continue making films....and maybe gets a larger budget on the next one because I'd love to see what he could accomplish even with a little bit more money and a better camera...etc...etc.
The movie was good. Go see it.
Wesley Willis's Joyrides (2008)
Great Film (No spoilers)
I saw a screening of this film at the 2008 Florida Film Festival. It was an excellent film. If you get the chance, please go see a screening of this. It's an amazing story about a man that many of us don't know enough about. I myself was enlightened because during high school, I thought Wesley Willis was just a crazy bum who made music. Much to my surprise, he was a genius...among other things.
The audience was packed when I saw the movie and there were cheers after the film. And at the second screening...the audience was packed again.
So please....if you only watch one documentary this year. Check this one out. I'm not just saying this because I have no connections to the film. Other than that I met the filmmakers and they are really cool too. But you have to see this movie. It is very relevant.
Thank you Wesley Willis. And thank you Chris & Kim for making this film.
