Leo (2023)
Unspeakable nonsense
After a man was attacked at home by a gang of petty criminals at the beginning, there is a hyena that has gotten lost in a snow-covered town and roams the city center like a giant monster, bloodthirsty and murdering, until finally the hero (with a ridiculous salt and pepper hairstyle, which was probably styled half an hour before each scene - it machtes the snowy landscape!!!!), puts it to sleep with a tranquilizer dart and then visits it with his family, which the hyena is really happy about and is suddenly very sweet and very tame.
Afterwards there is a tame owl. The animals behave like they are from a Disney cartoon.
The hero, who is is a very nice café owner and family man doesn´t only only tame wild animals, but also kills evil killers. Then he almost goes to prison because people don't believe him for killing the bad guys in self-defense.
A conspiracy takes places as well and our man has to solve this too.
Tthe soundtrack is truly horrible!
L'Afrique, les OGM et Bill Gates (2022)
Watch out: This is a one-sided documentary!
As is any documentary because it´s always been made through the eye of the director.
And this one doesn´t like big corporations. Well, I don´t either.
To know that Bill Gates and his collegues are not just some kind philantrophists who want to bring the blessing of GMO plants to Africa to secure Africas peoples nutrition, I wouldn´t have needed to watch this documentary.
Still, it explains this and more in short scenes and in a way that everybody who can think independently, can understand it.
I learned in the last years that GMO itself isn´t a bad thing. I do understand this from a scientific point of view.
This doesn´t change a thing about the fact that corporations are doing everything they can to win and exercise power over poor countries to make huge profits. They use GMO plants for this. Because these they can patent and own. Any farmer who steps into a dependency of these plants is going to be lost because he will have to pay for the seed and the fertilizer and the pesticides and the techniques etc.
None of the big corporations that produce and sell pesticides/fertilizer/seed have any interest in feeding the world. All they want is to make a profit - at all costs for the societies.
Anybody who seriously wants to help fight hunger in the world shows people how they can grow plants with permaculture and how they can support healthy soil and grow plants in dry places without technical stuff that has to be bought from a company.
My Amanda (2021)
Long car commercial with zero substance
The irrelevance and trivia of this movie can hardly be outperformed. The dialogues are completely banal (which made me angry, because I had to read this shit). About the outside locations I wondered: Where the h*** has this been recorded? The main characters drive with around in expensive cars (that I couldn´t afford and I belong to the 10 % people with the highest income in Germany) through a countryside that is so deserted that I inevitably thought that all other people and vessels must have been kept out during the production. It all appears completely artificial.
Additionally, we get to see a complete illusory world where the protagonists have no other problems than where the hamster stays after the separation, what the ex texted or who gets to sing the favorite Karaoke song first. One gets to hang out with one´s best friend all the time. No need to work or any everyday life chores.
The director Die Regisseurin Alessandra de Rossi is actually actress - she should have stuck with her first profession.
Luksong tinik (1999)
Technically bad and lovelessly staged conspiracy story
This movie about a smalltime criminal woman who accidentally witnesses the murder of her boss a clerk in an administration and has to run for her own life is bad in every cinematic aspect:
Script, staging, actors and visually.
The movie only takes place in modern and new office buildings, a chic and empty bar, modern and new homes of people. Sometimes outside, but in a completely neutral environment that could be everywhere. All the inside places have more or less no real furniture. The director didn´t care at all for any kind of endowments. Completely loveless. And the characters are almost all wealthy or upper class people. They are all dressed neatly and behave unnaturally polite and stiff/unauthentic.
Apart from the movie being bad, it also gives a wrong idea about life on the Philippines.
Stairway from Hell (2010)
Bible commercial
This documentary is just a commercial for the catholic church.
The nun in her white robe wanders through the worst slums ever and saves some of the 30 % Philippinos who live in extreme poverty. Of course it´s not been spoken about the historical context. The christian church has been part of the colonialization through Spain and afterwards USA that have exploited country and people.
Instead, the church is being introduced as savior! All of this with a perfectly chosen soundtrack to induce certain emotions.
Apart from this it´s staged conventionally with a dramatic background speaker and a few good cinematographic scenes.
