Altered Carbon (2018)
A surprisingly intellectual concept series
While it had many cliches, I was pleased to see so many nods to classics like-
Blade Runner, Matrix, Avatar, Firefly, etc. You'll have fun picking them out.
It's definitely adult, but it is very intelligently done.
The story, visuals and acting are all first rate, impressively so.
But for me, the turning point, mid way through,
was the message- a brilliant, timeless message.
The series is a worthy watch by any measure,
bit for those who are seeking a bit more,
a higher plane, if you will, this series has it.

Ultimate Ninja Challenge (2018)
Interesting but misleading
Sadly, the show had almost nothing to do with Ninjas, a key part of the name;
Their claim of the last living ninja being involved, is very dubious at best.
The show really seemed like a poor excuse for Renegade83 to make yet another highly produced survival show, bordering on outright fakery.
The casting also reflected a very poor quality in that some of the people
had highly questionable backgrounds, some bordering on blatant fraud
or seriously worrisome character issues with legal implications.
Sadly, this is one of those lackluster shows reflecting both ignorance
by networks and production companies on the subject matter
and their seeming low estimation of the intelligence of the viewing public.
We can only hope it goes out with a whimper and stays gone.
Dude, You're Screwed (2013)
Good fun, bad survival, nice guys, fake Colonel
I enjoyed the camaraderie of the show very much,
but the survival was not truthful and the entire show
was so produced that none of the scenarios were remotely possible.
But mainly, I was really put off by the Fake Colonel Moore Character.
Being a survivalist, veteran and host myself, I like to do my due diligence.
I found Moore had put himself in to be a "Kentucky Colonel"
back when you could "self-submit".
Their rules clearly say it is fraudulent to hold the rank out as real.
Yet, Thomas more, uses the rank to fool folks into donating money
to fund his trips abroad to other countries known for unsavory practices.
I did a FOIA (Freedom Of Information Act) request on Moore
and his actual military record was far from stellar,
and explains why he misleads with his 'honorary' rank.
Moore served a few years on active duty on the 70's
and he tried out for Special Forces and failed.
He quit the military then joined the reserves a decade later
for a few years in the 80's and again, he quit and left for a decade.
Then after failing in civilian world again, Moore joined the Guard.
Again he served only a few years, then quit and his record shows
he did attend a few schools, but never anything elite or survival.
The most concerning fact is that he never obtained a rank higher than Specialist, and that he did something bad that warranted them to reduce his rank, usually, as the result of a court martial.
The bottom line is that Thomas Moore has a very checkered and inglorious past, and he managed to dupe KY into an honorary title which he has subsequently used to sell books and solicit funds, for what appears to be,
less than honorable activities in under developed nations.
The Next One (1984)
A rare film that will enlighten you by surprise
I don't want to do any spoliers- some folks who've reviewed here have come close to doing so, but not to any harm to the new viewer's experience, imho.
I will say for sure, this movie was decades ahead of it's time
in both concept and story. The acting is well done for the standard of the day.
It could be viewed as sci-fi, it could be viewed as religious.
Either way, it brings an enlightening idea that will offend many,
confuse some, but will appeal to others- seeking to understand
our world, lives, universe and existence.
Check it out if you ever get a chance to watch.
