Your Honor: Part Twenty (2023)
Would love a Season 3
So I see how they wrapped things up here in a neat little bow. I get it, mega star Bryan Cranston has other things to do, that's fine. But there is so much craziness going on here, the series can totally go on without him. Even though they are so outrageous, I LOVE the Baxter family, I would totally watch anything with them in it. Jimmy Baxter is my favorite character! I hope they can find a way to make this happen. Wouldn't that be fun? Unrealistic, yes, but fun. The New Orleans background is a story in itself. Season 2 was so much better than Season 1, this series really redeemed itself. Good job!
Northern Exposure: Balls (1995)
Ed will turn your heart of stone into mush
Oh my Ed, I dare you not to cry after watching this episode! Although Ed and Heather's romance is only one part of the storyline, it is a gem. My heart broke for Ed over and over again, especially at the end when we see his breakdown with Maurice. And Maurice being sympathetic and sweet? This is something special. I don't like where the Chris and Maggie storyline is heading, but I guess it is to be expected with the show wrapping up its six season run.
Northern Exposure: Mi Casa, Su Casa (1995)
Funny and touching all in one
This episode had me laughing out loud, Ed acting like Maurice, Maurice walking in on an unsuspecting Ed singing show tunes. Comedy gold. And the beautiful, poignant scenes with the always unlikely pairing of Marilyn and Joel. When they danced together at the end, what a touching good-bye. Perfect episode.
Northern Exposure: Mr. Sandman (1994)
So moving
Beautiful episode, Holling made me cry. A lot of emotion and wisdom in this one. Also love the minor characters shining in this, Walt, Ron, Erick. Most episodes make me feel warm and cozy, this one especially.
Ted Lasso: Make Rebecca Great Again (2020)
Who else hates Michelle Lasso?
I saw the high ratings for this episode, and I sat through the first 10 minutes wondering why. Then Nate's roast begins, and I understood. So much happened here, so many highs and lows. So much emotion. But I must say, I can't stand Michelle Lasso. Why is she doing this? Maybe time will tell.
Modern Love: On a Serpentine Road, With the Top Down (2021)
Wow
Perfection! This was just beautiful. I loved every minute, and I had to watch it again immediately. So many little touches that went straight to my heart. Minnie Driver is so good, emotional and believable in her role. The scenes with her late husband especially got to me. A love story within a love story.
Blow the Man Down (2019)
Watched for a second time a year later
This was even better the second time around. I watched this last year right at the beginning of the pandemic, and I didn't want to rate a movie during such an emotional time for the world. I rewatched it last night, and I loved it even more than I remember. Who knew that sea shanties would now be considered cool? The setting keeps you watching, and the acting is amazing. As many have stated, Margo Martindale steals the show. I also have a soft spot for Officer Brennan. I did take off one star for the "ending."
Your Honor: Part Ten (2021)
Acting a 10, story a 6
Very enjoyable series, but way too many unanswered questions and implausible scenarios. Cranston was outstanding, of course, but can we talk about the crazy good and bone chilling performance of Michael Stuhlbarg-Jimmy Baxter- omg, I will now watch anything with him in it! Margo Martindale is always a winner, and I truly loved the friendship portrayal by Isiah Whitlock Jr. And the city of New Orleans may be my favorite character of them all. Now to admit that I laughed when Adam died, literally laughed out loud. I don't think this was the intended emotion they were going for, but come on! Adam was one of the dumbest characters to ever grace a TV screen, and we can't entirely blame the actor either. What the heck was he doing anywhere near the courtroom? Why did that idiot teacher fall for him? And what was going on with Maura Tierney, was she also supposed to be annoying as hell? I was so distracted by her crazy hair, I couldn't take her seriously. Oh well, some very exciting moments in the series. But it should be over, how can you come back from that?
Christmas in the Wild (2019)
Came for the A-listers, stayed for the unique story!
I am NOT a Hallmark Christmas movie fan, I don't get excited for them or wait all year for them to come on. But Netflix's Christmas movie offering is different and adorable! Even though I tuned in to watch Rob Lowe and Kristin Davis have an adventure in Africa, I actually wound up loving the character Luke, played by John Owen Lowe, the most. The mother-son dynamic was my favorite aspect of this movie, he had stuff to prove because he is Rob Lowe's son, and he passed the test. Raises awareness of the seriousness of poaching also, so even better!
Call the Midwife: Episode #2.1 (2013)
One of the best episodes...
I've just watched this episode for the second time, and it confirms for me that it is one of the best episodes of the series. The storyline involving the delivery of a baby on a Swedish ship was so beautifully done and fascinating. When Sister Evangelina and Trixie have to climb aboard the rope ladder in the middle of the night, I was holding my breath. What an adventure, funny and heartwarming at the same time.
