Code 207 (2011)
Pretty good film - could be studio film in future.
I thought it was a great little independent film, surely they did not have a big budget but they made a pretty good movie. The acting was good and there is a really cool little play between the two lead characters. The story line was solid and could easily have been made for a big budget. I agree the lead Tino Struckmann belong in far bigger budget films he does a really great acting job. the kid has chops and I hope he gets a chance to break through big. There were some limitations set by the obvious low budget and that is what it is as they say. However that should not detract from the film feel and writing, it tells a story that have happened and thus should be made, as it is easier to talk about real life issues when making the film about them. And for that alone the film makers should be applauded.
Red Rose of Normandy (2011)
Amazing story and scope on super low budget
This was just a good film, I will say the filming and possibly editing could have been a little better, but I understand that you make a movie with the budget you have available. and for the 80k they had this is amazing. I have never seen even a studio film with this many real tanks and toys, they did an amazing job getting this film together on that budget. There was also some great actors in this film Tino Struckmann and Jack Dimich should absolutely go bigger in their career. The story line was solid, and I really enjoyed the little wedding scene as well as the historic details seen from the German side, not often mentioned, thus it could be an important teaching tool. well done so stop knocking this film they did better than anybody else with that money.
Ardennes Fury (2014)
If you are going to do it - do it right!
I will honestly say I agree with Wellers review, the only good thing about this movie was watching Tino Struckmann, by far the best actor in this cast. He did a great performance leaving me wanting more and the biggest downfall of this film is that there is not more scenes with him as the lead bad guy. and let's just not talk about the horribly CGI, why would they use that when they apparently had a few real tanks. Historically it was way off, I understand they wanted to make a profit of the release of Fury but why? why not try to do something either original or if bent on an exploitation film they could at least gotten a few of the details right - like the time of year?!
The Last Rescue (2015)
OK film but nothing original?
well it is an OK movie but it does run pretty slow, and there are a few really silly bits in there, like the stereotypical gigantic bodybuilder evil bald Nazi and the stereotypical evil Nazi who apparently can't speak either English or German very strange? But agreeing with others Tino Struckmann did a great supporting role, very solid only with they had followed up on some of the obvious subplots that could have been, and perhaps it would have a more solid film had Struckmann lead the film. The females were completely unengaged, and some of the others who before had done solid seemed flat. Perhaps it is the story, nothing original or new, sad a missed opportunity I feel.
Brothers War (2009)
I truly well made war film.
I found it a most compelling film, With strong historic content. The producers really have understood this terribly period and with all the small subtleties and dangers. I was very impressed and can only recommend it. I also very much enjoyed the lead actors I found all in this film did a very good job. there are some very specific details worth watching out for. Especially I enjoyed the scene with Struckmann and a German Sergeant, where his lack of returning the Nazi salute shows his commitment to soldiering and not to the Nazi regime. There are many more little pieces of historic tidbits worth looking for. true some of the digital parts in the beginning could have been done better but overall a great little film.
